nobody cares for videos these days Not true. Music videos are bigger than ever. Look at the big mainstream artists, they litterally get hundreds of millions of views per video. Even Beady Eye had 5m for the Roller. MTV never got that sort of exposure back in the day. Yeah maybe for One Direction etc.. Videos are still big, But for artists like Noel definitely not.

What a terrible video.
No wonder Noel didn't want to use it.

I really can't see him going solo. What else is he going to do? I can't see him starting another full time band. What would make it different than Beady Eye? I think a solo album is in the cards in the next 1-2 years. Oasis is not an option for Liam, especially in the short term. Noel is going to be very very busy over the next 12 to 15 months. Plus if it matches HFB success, that's even more working against a reunion. Take my advice William, solo album! No way solo Liam matches HFB success.

Yeah it's bullshit we've all been buzzing for this one all year and now it's up in the air, it'll be gutting if this doesn't see the light of day Would not surprise me since Noel hates the album

Preorder it here (iTunes link)"http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/noel-gallaghers-high-flying-birds-do-the-damage-track-premiere As of now, ITHOTM is not on iTunes Italy So it's only ITHOTM and not the single with Do the damage?

Noel's take on Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's "Weapon Of Choice". DTD is so mediocre that Andy Bell could have written it. So of you don't half talk some tripe.

I didn't even realize there was a Noel Gallagher forum on his website until now. I returned after the new single came out. Was hoping for more activity, but hardly any. Maybe in the next few months people will come back to it. Still much busier than the beady eye section

Love this song, Gutted we will probably never hear Liam sing it live.
But would be delighted if Noel sang it on his next tour (Highly unlikely tho)

Maybe that's why Liam and noel are on better terms, Liam is trying to get in Noel's good books for a reunion.

Well he already has a decent number of songs to go solo but I would love to see the people on here going ape shit if he still sang Noel songs at a Liam Gallagher gig. But are they good enough?

If Noel did reject Four Letter Word for DOYS then he's an idiot. It would have fit perfectly with the rocking start to the album, I think it's the best song any of them have produced since the break up. Kill For A Dream is dreadful so I'm with him there. I quite like Millionaire, perhaps Noel couldn't get his head around a song about Salvador Dali. Nah i like Bag it up better as a opener.

I would interpret all this rant as an overreacted backlash to the new single. I dont think anybody was expecting another wonderwall, but a song that would bring as much satisfaction as TDOYAM brought (to me anyway). The new song could have easily been a b-side to the last album, and you all know it. In my opinion, I heard it for about 7 times yesterday, trying to force myself to like it, but havent listened to it again since. Now that's rare for me when it comes to Oasis/Noel music. That's how bad I think the song is. I can totally get the frustration, after 4 years of nothing new. But that's not to say that his whole solo career is gonna be underwhelming. People just overreact, that's all. Who the hell wants another wonderwall? It's THE most overrated oasis song ever.

Well, Oasis themselves can't be placed in line with legendary bands like the Beatles to me, and let's be honest, after Be Here Now they were still big but not legendary. They had the potential to be, but they just didn't continue in the same line. Noel has written a few all time classics while in Oasis, like Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Live Forever etc. And while HFB was a good album, and this new single is alright too, he hasn't written a new Wonderwall yet. And with that I don't mean a song with the same chords, I mean a song that is so universal and that everyone, no matter where you are, can sing along to. A songwriter like McCartney isn't just remembered for his work in The Beatles. He also released some all time classics during his solo career, like Maybe I'm Amazed, Live and let die, Band on the run etc. Noel hasn't. And I don't know if he has any more Wonderwalls in store for us. I hope he doesn't.

Listening to the new song makes me sad how much better the first album would have sounded without sardy.
