The last chorus just after that great little guitar solo is epic!

It's not. Good tune, but ...Idle, SCYHO, I'm Outta Time Falling Down and Go Let It Out are all superior imo

People complain about the choir, but I much prefer the way it is rather than Everybody's On the Run overblow choir style which is cheesy as hell.

Yeah but this choir is used in a different way, because TT and EOTR are very different songs. I would have liked the choir to be a bit louder, not as loud as the one on EOTR but still louder than it is now, and the bass should have been louder too.
Otherwise, this is definitely one of my favourite post 2000 Oasis songs.

IMHO it's the second best post-SOTSOG Oasis song... just a little behind Falling Down.

Without a doubt my favorite off of DOYS and its a top 5 00's Oasis song for me at least. It is a really really well constructed song. Has just about everything that a great song should have. Love the intro. Great organ tones and the drum/bass establish a nice hard hitting groove. It actually has a guitar solo! I love the "shake you ragdoll baby" coda near the end, some nice guitar work/licks in there too. As a Dear Prudence fan, I naturally love the outro.
It stands up with some of their best work in the 90's. I've said it before this was the type of song that I wanted from Oasis in the 00's. Classic Oasis vibe with a huge chorus but it had some really nice sonic textures. Sounds great on headphones. I personally think the choir is fine where it is. You kinda feel them, it doesn't over power the track.
The Turning, Go Let It Out, The Shock of the Lightning, Falling Down, Shout It Out Loud, Gas Panic, Roll it Over, Part Of The Queue, The Importance of Being Idle its songs like these where Oasis tried something new (to a degree/in comparison to their 90's work) and really succeeded.
The alt version is also very good. Pissed me off that they didn't play it live.

I think I prefer the alternate version over the studio one.

The alternate version reminds me of Lyla. Plus I find it a bit too nervous. I prefer the albumversion
Is there a reason why it was never played live?

pity it was never played live, same with Bag It Up. Two powerful songs.
The DOYS tour set was basaically a greatest hits and in my opinion the best live performances Oasis have ever put in. Though when you see songs like TBWTL, AGN, IOT and TMOS get thrown into the mix then it's a pity they weren't put in at some stage. I know the four songs i'm saying were weak links were written by Liam and Gem, just coincidence.

I prefer the albumversion Is there a reason why it was never played live?Yes, they wanted to transfer that lack of ambition and soul to their live shows to replicate the feel of Dig Out Your Soul (ironic title if you ask me).

I remember this because of the GH multitracks.

It always sounded promising in the soundchecks. Where do you think it would have fit best in the setlist? I think somewhere after Morning Glory, likely in place of Aint' Got Nothin, would be best. With My Big Mouth and HTWA in the set, it would be superb.

Not up for it vocally? Is The Turning that much harder to sing than Morning Glory or I'm Outta Time (not that those sounded great live or anything)?
