OH I hope that's true! That would be fantastic, their commercials are so heartwarming and amazing. I love them. The one with Real Love as a song last year made me a bit emotional. Plus they all become hits, don't they?
*cough* Ahum, okay. Back to my cynical, moody and mean self now.

Noel's pension pot certainly won't be harmed if this is true!

I must say I'm getting a bit bored of all these covers of songs in adverts, initially it was interesting but they've just kicked the arse out of it now ...in fairness that "real love" cover sounded really good.

I don't tend to like most of these cover versions. They're usually done by some whispery voiced woman who somehow manages to suck all the life out of the song, The Smiths cover from a few years ago being a prime example.
That being said, Tom Odell did a good job with Real Love.

Even I think Tom Odell did a good job, and I can't stand him.

Not sure the picture captures your likeness exactly, but hey ho...

Obv the exposure would be good (tho think royle family already sealed this songs place in history with the 'general public') guess we'll see either way in next few days

The best Real Love version is the demo recorded in John Lennon's flat. The Anthology version is a mess, while the Tom Odell version is the typical simpering crap associated with that kind of music. Says it all when a demo with an out of tune piano is better!
Though I'm interested to hear any Oasis cover if it is indeed picked - any publicity for an Oasis song is good publicity. Aside from the shit ones of course.

Confirmed - the advert features a simpering cover of Cigs & Alcohol featuring a penguin that has lost its way from the Antarctic who adapts to a hedonistic weekend environment in the UK, snorting coke off a hooker's tits.

Is Elton John singing it and playing the penguin? He's got all the requisite experience for that storyboard

I absolutely can't see this happening!
If offered, I'm sure Noel would do it in a heart beat but John Lewis using a song that's already a theme tune to a rather well known sitcom, sung / played by the same person?!
If anything, I'd think it would be a Noel-cover of a song that previously had Liam on main vocals… Like SCYHO or LTBL
Anyway, it's the NME reporting it and we all know how reliable they are… Just because that JL spokesperson didn't deny it doesn't mean it's true, I mean...

I don't want it to turn out to be true tbh... I'm not looking forward to hearing Half the World Away being castrated by some random smiley 'I'm so emotional' pop star knob being paid off by department store management fuckers.

The teaser ads have shown shots of the moon. Half The World Away would make sense so I have a feeling it might be used.

No one could conceivably cover Half The World Away. Noel's version is utterly perfect.

Whatever the song is, I sure hope to god it ain't Paloma Faith.
How many fucking vowels and syllables does that woman express in a song?
