Greattt greaattt song! 4.5/5 Never understood why they stopped playing it live after 2002. Was one song that 2000s Oasis really did well live...

Kind of amazed that some people are rating this an 8+/10. I understand we all have different opinions, but are we really going to say this song is almost as good at Let It Be, Imagine, Champagne Supernova, Here Comes the Sun, Free Fallin’, Layla, etc? All which could be considered as 10/10s by a significant amount of people? I think some people let their love for Noel influence their rating of his music too much. Or we need to rethink the way we rate music. I mean, I wouldn't even consider an 8/10 almost as good as a 10/10. 10/10 is on a different level. 9/10 is close, but flawed enough in some way that it's never quite able to tip over the scale. 8/10 is a solid track. It's an ear worm, well developed and comes together nicely enough that it's a good song, but still very flawed. For me, a 10 point rating scale is most equivalent to something like the Richter scale. I rated this song 8/10 and I have no blinding love for Noel. If he produces something I'm not fond of, I have no problems trashing it. Holy Mountain, Dream On, The Mexican...among others. For me a 8/10 is a greaaatt track. I'd say a 5/10 would be more solid. These songs don't come close to the level of an 8, 9 or 10 to me, because they don't compare at all to those upper echelon of songs in any category for me, but to each there own. I have this same exact argument for movies....

I hope DYKWIM comes back for BHN. Much better song imo. Liam seems to love Be Here Now though so I'm not sure if it's gonna be a fixture in the set list. DYKWIM is a better song, but I really like how they play BHN live and it was the first Oasis song they really nailed. I think it's gonna stay the whole tour.

Also, they dropped DYKWIM? so I don't have to hear Jay butcher the solo repeatedly. Really like what they have going on right now....

There really is nothing like hearing that opening riff of Some Might Say for the first time in 15 years....

Wouldn't surprise me if this is the only time he does Rockin Chair this tour. That's a rough song to sing. Still very happy he did it tho!

Has there ever been a vocal comeback like this from a rock singer? I struggle to think of one....

How are people listening to this? Search Fort Knox Noel Gallagher on twitter, there is links to it.

Great performance and it's funny that some people found the spitting so offensive. To me it almost seems like he's trying to sing that poorly. I think its one of the worst champagne supernova performances Liam ever did, certainly around that time period....

What a surprise, you can't. You didn't even try. Mate, you never debated anything in the first place. You just went "Communism is evil, look at Cuba!" and when someone explained to you what communism was, how that country isn't communist, and how the misconception came about, you just kept saying "Communism is evil, look at Cuba!" And then when you were asked for ONE, just ONE example of ANY of those countries working EVEN SLIGHTLY towards communism, you just went "nah, it's got blood on it's hands, bye." That's Trump-supporter levels of debate. Still, if you ever get round to thinking of one single example of Cuba trying to implement communism, just ONE, we'll all be waiting. Seeing as it's the basis of your entire ideological outlook, ONE example might be nice. You can’t even recognize reality so don’t start lecture me about what I do and don’t know. Stating these examples you want doesn’t do anything because you can’t recognize these countries for what they are. But I’ll give you an example anyways. The Cuban constitution states that the communist party is the leading force of society and state. What can’t you grasp about that? And Trump states that he isn't giving himself a gigantic tax break. TheEscapist is entirely correct about this subject. And I'm an American. First off, you are getting communism and socialism completely screwed up, and none of the examples you've given are anything but dictatorships under the guise of something else.

The vocals let down the song, the instrumentals give me a headache, its far too repetitive, and it reminds me of Mucky Fingers and She Must be One of Us, which are two of my least favorite songs ever...does that explain it?

I actually like this more too. The vocals actually have some range in them and aren't so muddled. That's the thing for me with Noel's vocals - his voice is perfect when he's singing delicately rather than shouting like he's been doing the majority of HFB. Sometimes it works (Mighty I) but take What A Life for example - that's a classic soft Noel vocal but the song isn't classic Noel at all. WTSRTS, Alone On The Rope, etc. are my favorite of his and his vocals are softer. Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me, Falling Down, would sound worse if he was straining like on Holy Mountain. Rolo's cover showed me if Noel had a better arrangement I may had actually enjoyed the song. EDIT: Even on Mighty I, it has the loud-quiet dynamic to it, so his softer vocals help the quieter moments so much and add dynamic. Yeah I think this is the first song I can think of that Noels vocals and the production ruined the song for me. The delivery just doesn't play to his strengths....

I hope you don't mind me posting this Rolo . This is way more enjoyable than the actual song for me, you have a very special talent! Prefer the chord progression on your version - something delicate about it and your vocals are better than Noels. Unbelievable! (don't forget the handclaps ) I actually like this more too. The vocals actually have some range in them and aren't so muddled.

Alan White was by far the best for Oasis. WTSMG wouldn't be the album it is without his drumming. Tony was the perfect drummer for Definitely Maybe. I think Zak is a great drummer for the Who, but absolutely wrong for Oasis. All the old songs sounded substantially worse with him drumming them, probably not helped by not having a prime Liam voice to save it. Chris is a perfect drummer for them, exhibiting all the best qualities of the three, but having not played on any of the albums, is hard to rate. I wish Whitey would've gotten more respect in Supersonic, I was pissed with how they addressed him. That might have something to do with his unwillingness to be a part of it, however.

Let's forget about the quality of this song. Noel gave us this album cover Name of the album is Who Built The Moon? Than we heard this Then we found out that first single is called Holy Mountain. HOLY FUCKING MOUNTAIN!And that this is cover art for that song I was expecting 2 minutes long intro that is big fucking spiritual experience and and at least 2 minutes long guitar solo that is played on guitar that has strings made from nose hair of holy rabbit who lives in North India and you can only see him outside once in 7 years. And then we got this. I love the artwork. Especially after what we got for Chasing Yesterday.

It's really funny that I only come on these boards from time to time and yet somehow it's always the same people bitching about the same things... boggles me giblets Spot on. I find it amazing people take time out of their lives to come on here to just be negative. A lot of people on here pick between Liam/Noel for some bizarre reason, and that’s their narrative. Sad. I love almost everything that Noel has ever released, but I'm not gonna be forced to like something just because it was released by someone. Same thing with Liam.

It actually sounds like a mix between Mucky Fingers / She Must Be One of Us / The Mexican. Not a great mix, indeed. I was hearing the Mucky Fingers/She Must Be One of Us comparisons while listening. Partially explains my dislike of it.
