Well...Tony was essential on the band even doe he was really basic. Alan was great but maybe a bit repetitive to me. Always doing that 'TunDAtutututunDa'. Zak to me was the best. The drums on DBTT and DOYS were brilliant. And Chris is great but he didn't get the chance to work on a record so yeah.

Love the way Tony seems to be hanging on for dear life in the old stuff. When he has trouble keeping the tempo, it always seems to be faster. I dig that.
Zak is totally solid, seems to be more of a pounder. Between Ringo, The Who and Oasis I've seen Zak 17 times. Best I've ever seen him with Ringo All Stars, playing My Wife with Entwistle. John too loud as always. Ringo comes out side stage drinking something from a coffee cup, just staring. Almost like the moment he knew Zak was going to move on. Lots of respect for Zak.
Chris brought what was needed to DOYS tour. Thought he was a bit tighter with Oasis than Zak TBH. Fit Like a glove with Beady Eye. Certainly makes NGHFB sound better.
Think Whitey takes the crown as far as Oasis is concerned. He fit in so perfectly on so many records imo. Just did the job. That makes it easy for a band to do theirs.

As far as best all-around drummer goes, Chris is definitely the one. He could play some of the simplistic but punk stylings of DM, the more jazzy shuffles of MG, the hard rock drums of BHN and DOYS (SOTSOG tunes like Gas Panic! probably would've sounded awesome with Chris at the drums), and the more laidback patterns of HC and DBTT, while still throwing in his own flair to it. I admire his performances on TSOTL during the tour, that was the highlight of quite a few shows.
I'd say Whitey comes second, then Tony McCarroll (in all of his glory), and Zak who didn't seem to mesh with the band too well and didn't really have time to as well since he left the band so soon.

Alan White was by far the best for Oasis. WTSMG wouldn't be the album it is without his drumming. Tony was the perfect drummer for Definitely Maybe. I think Zak is a great drummer for the Who, but absolutely wrong for Oasis. All the old songs sounded substantially worse with him drumming them, probably not helped by not having a prime Liam voice to save it. Chris is a perfect drummer for them, exhibiting all the best qualities of the three, but having not played on any of the albums, is hard to rate. I wish Whitey would've gotten more respect in Supersonic, I was pissed with how they addressed him. That might have something to do with his unwillingness to be a part of it, however.

Sharrock is the best of the lot, but he (mostly) just played the parts that the other guys came up with. Steve White deserves an honorable mention as well, btw.
