Feel free to post anything you liked about this era such as the album itself, songs, b sides, gigs, the clothes, instruments or the haircuts etc!
This is an experiment, let’s see if it works and then we could do it for the other post glory days albums. If this thread is not popular then the mods can delete it!
I’m certainly not suggesting this era was better than the good old days of DM to BHN. I’m not trying to view this era through rose tinted glasses, there were definitely some negatives around this time ie the comedown from the glory years, Noel leaving the tour, Robbie Williams wanting to fight Liam and Wembley second night (although some might say this was legendary!) Rightly so there’s a fair bit to be negative about but let’s keep it positive here.
Feel free to post anything you liked about this era such as the album itself, songs, b sides, gigs, the clothes, instruments or the haircuts etc!
Highlights for me include: Noel and Gem acoustic set of WFL and SMC - always liked the one recorded for MTV Europe Full band session at Maida Vale for BBC radio one. Later with Jools Holland show Leeds Festival final gig of the tour

I'm in the minority, but I really like this era. Not as great as '94-'98 of course, but better than what came after imho. A few of my personal highlights: - Gas Panic! What a tune. Love the demo, love the album version, love the live version. - the Jools Holland special: one of the first Oasis bootlegs I downloaded when I got into them. - the SOTSOG album sleeve: not as iconic as the Microdot sleeves, but it sets the mood. - Noel's Mapleglo Rickenbacker with the peace sign sticker. - electric Talk Tonight performed at Maida Vale.

Always liked how Noel became (slightly) less arrogant and how his personal emotions made it into songs from this period (Let's all make believe and gas panic being the shining examples).
Also the 1999 CBC radio session might be my favorite noel acoustic session. Vocals on point (also drastically improved in this era), two new songs and two old favorites (with rock 'n' roll star making a surprise appearance), and there's a grand piano thrown in to top it off. Just perfect.

I can’t change the thread title to 99-01 to include the South American shows in January 2001 which I would argue are part of the SOTSOG tour. The tour of brotherly love in May-June and noise and confusion shows in October are separate. I forgot about this brilliant acoustic set with Noel, Gem and Zeb Jameson

Liam was a God. His voice was so rasping, abrasive, commanding. I love 1999-2000 and consumed SOTSOG and Familiar To Millions for a reason solely related to Liam. How many times I dreamed of seeing him in the studio recording that album during that time. His voice is everything to me.

There were some great gigs as well. Yokohama, Jools Holland, Anciene, Koln, Maida Vale session.
Apologies if I’ve spelt them wrong 😂

Probably the last time Liam actually looked like a rock star. That long hair with flower shirts or the jean jacket look, the sunglasses...

Best era of Liam's voice in my honest opinion. The perfect mix of grit, snarl and pitch, where he could still hit all his notes from the Morning Glory era. Those '99 gigs are special.

I really kiked that phase as the darker songs like gas panic, brought a new perspective. I like how instrumentation changed up too and we heard synths, mellotrons, sitars etc.

It was 2000 Liam's voice I fell in love with. 2nd night Wembley, "Live forever", I think it was the 3rd "we're gonna live forevvaaaaah!" when it happened. Seriously!
I still prefer rough Liam to angelic Liam.

Always thought these two interviews with Noel weee really interesting. Both for German media I think, possibly both done by Gil Dylan
This one was recorded on the same day as the Later with Jools Holland performance on 11th February 2000
According to the oasis-live page this interview by Gil Dylan was filmed in Tokyo on 7th march 2000

SOTSOG is a superb record. Sure the tracklisting should have been different, but hey, you can do that yourself right... The gigs and promo sessions were great, new sound, almost like a new band. On the one i've been at, Noel was pretty happy to be there. It was a great time to be an Oasis fans with the rise of the internet, looking for new content, chatting with other people on forums. Fighting over silly things. I've some great memories of that time I've even seen Oasis without Noel, and believe you me, it was NOT the same a bit like seeing Beady Eye 10 years before it actually happened. With that guy that had to learn all the songs in 48 hours. Ha ha.

Absolutely love this period. It really felt that Noel had something going on with a distinctive new sound, but then he either lost faith in it, got talked out of it, or just flat out got bored.
A lot more knowledgeable fans on this board will know better than me about that.
Hot Takes Go Let It Out backed with Let's All Make Believe is as good a 1-2 punch as anything from the glory days. The Jools Holland 2000 set is their best ever TV appearance. The album you can construct out of the songs written in this period is their 3rd best album. Wembley 2000 is a better listen than Knebworth '96 Gas Panic is a top 5 Oasis song.
(I'll get my coat)

He really looked like a scared rabbit on the road on that stage. + it was a tough crowd. A free gig in Paris with a lot of people not here for Oasis at all, and it all ended in a riot. Weird night. thanx i will be listening.

On 26th July 2000 the band played at the Paleo Festival, Nyon, Switzerland. They stopped the gig during Gas Panic as the crowd were throwing items at them. Liam had already given the crowd a gentle warning during Acquiesce at 23:20. Strange times.

I came very late to the Oasis party and Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is my most listened to Oasis album, maybe not my favourite but it's the one I usually come back to.
The gigs from this era and the BHN tour are my favourites. Liam's outfits were crazy iconic
