Funny logic; "I've paid for your music, now you must be kind" It's not like you actually bought a part of Noel, you bought his music, which you got. This is exactly what Oasis was about in the '90s '90s Noel would cringe if he read this thread. Good point. I think as Oasis fans we should all refer to him as Sir Noel.

We wouldn't be here, if Liam and Noel were polite in the '90s

I've watched this interview tons of times but, honestly, can people actually stand by their 'Noel's a dick now he wasn't before' comments?
He's such an arrogant twat at the start of this video. I love it, I'm not having a go, but Jesus , he doesn't come close to being this bad now!

There's a reason Liam is loved more.
As a person Noel simply is a bit of a prick.
You get these people in life sadly, not just with famous people. Some people are just up themselves.
Just don't surround yourself with these people.

Of course you get enough respect from us. We're glad that we're not being called "nazi mods" by you (and others) anymore. Respect should come from both sides, you know.

Without Noel we wouldn't have all these fantastic Oasis songs that we all love. For that, I will always respect Noel. Too many Oasis fans think Noel should write songs for them. Let him be creative and free.

Think he does by majority, just some stuck in the past who can’t seem to understand Noel Is evolving as a musician. He isn’t interested in doing songs for people, he wants to do what he wants, which deserves far more respect than someone who’s just cashing cheques writing meaningless songs, living in the past which he doesn’t want.

Sounds so fucking drippy this, but likewise, they don’t need to play together. I’d love to see them just together once again. Just think it’s been a decade since these two have been seen together. They seem to operate in different worlds entirely for 10 years. It’s sad. Still remember that night I found out - it was this site, seeing a thread titled ‘Oasis split’ - which I thought was just another speculation thread. But when you see 200 plus people viewing that thread you knew shit was going down.

Let him be creative and free. Personally I don’t give a shit about him anymore, especially when I’ve started laughing at the things coming out his mouth rather than laughing with him. Pray to god he doesn’t go down Morrisseys route though.... But, professionally, he’s still the man. He surprised me with Who Built The Moon. I absolutely love that album in a way I haven’t done with any Gallagher related album since Be Here Now.

It’s digging the knife into me now every time I read what he says. It’s really tough to take - the guy was a hero, my favourite frontman and for sure it’s easy to ignore his latest work (his last album and a recent covers album), but to bin his work with The Smiths? That’s a lot tougher, especially with the sentiment I have towards those songs. Johnny Marr is still THE man, as are Rourke and Joyce who come off well, but I worry if Morrissey has poisoned the water too much, especially as I held him in such high esteem. The last year or so, I’ve not listened to The Smiths nearly as much which is sad. I still think they are amazing but it’s just tougher to confront now with that conflicted view. The idea of separating the art from the artist becomes so much more complicated when it’s your favourite act ever. I’ll admit, it’s not as if his lyrics were the lyrics of the most empathetic, morally upstanding soul especially as a lot of his lyrics are quite bitter (as we all can be though), but it’s hard to believe a guy who wrote such sensitive and emotive songs like There Is A Light being the same guy spouting right wing reactionary shit.

I'm in the same boat as you(love the Smiths, hate what Morrissey has become), but I don't have this problem at all. Morrissey in the 80's was not the Morrissey of today, and to me that automatically leaves the entire Smiths discography "untouched" and unaffected. It would be a different thing if they would ever reunite(hypothetically, that ship has sailed of course), then I would probably feel a lot more uncomfortable. But even then, those songs were written 30 years ago by a different person.

The reason I created this thread is because Noel and his family get a lot of shit on here and social media and it's uncalled for. Respect man, respect.

If it was up to Oasis fan's, he be only singing the hits. So screw 'em.

As for Morrissey, I think Viva Hate, Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I are good as anything The Smiths done imo. I throw Bona Drag in there too. But the last couple of albums have been a right old slog to get through.

Off topic: I heard a great Arctíc Monkeys song on the radio the other day, 'A Certain Romance'; picked up their first album from the local library, I might have to reaccess my dislike of the Artic Monkeys..... God bless.

I've watched this interview tons of times but, honestly, can people actually stand by their 'Noel's a dick now he wasn't before' comments? He's such an arrogant twat at the start of this video. I love it, I'm not having a go, but Jesus , he doesn't come close to being this bad now! Great fucking interview this. Still find it funny af. Liam was wearing that same shirt when I met him and got a picture back in 2002. Ok, with that memory out of the way, I’ll start by saying I love Liam and Noel. They are both Oasis to me, with a combination of Noel’s great songs, Liam’s voice, swagger, and rock star vibe. It took both of them and those contributions to take Oasis to the heights they reached back in the day. All that being said, I do find myself gravitating to Liam more lately the last several years. It doesn’t mean I don’t respect Noel, because I do (seen him twice on solo album tours). I have a ton of respect for him as a songwriter. But I have a soft spot for Liam, just hearing his voice when it is on point just screams “OASIS!” to me. With the way things had been going for Liam and not having Noel around to sort of lead the great ship Oasis, I wasn’t surprised that Beady Eye fizzled out and Noel had more success early on. But I was pleasantly surprised when Liam’s first solo album came out how much I loved it (and was slightly disappointed with WBTM at the same time) and it seemed like he had gotten things together. I find myself rooting for him and rooting for him to get back to even just some semblance of the glory of the old days. Something about Liam now, he just seems like he’s trying to get with the fans. Responding on twitter, making documentaries, promoting them and putting himself out there for the fans. For me, he went from bigger than life rock star in Oasis, to a folk hero rock star and still is the last of a dying breed. So I respect Noel and all he did for Oasis and what he continues to do as a solo artist, but I don’t get goosebumps when I hear his voice as much as I do when I hear Liam’s voice when he’s belting it out in good form.
