1. Like a Rolling Stone 2. It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) 3. Subterranean Homesick Blues 4. Things Have Changed 5. Positively Fourth Street 6. Ballad of a Thin Man 7. Mr. Tambourine Man 8. Visions of Johanna 9. Knockin' on Heaven's Door 10. Don't Think Twice, It's Alright 11. Talkin' World War III Blues 12. Make You Feel My Love 13. Desolation Row 14. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue 15. Not Dark Yet I've left out any songs from Blood on the Tracks, his best album, so that if you enjoy this you can dive into that without having heard anything before. It's absolute genius. Great list but I will add Sad-Eyed Lady of The Lowlands, I Want You and Girl from The North Country, to make it a badass 18 songs playlist. There's so still much great material from Dylan, you could make a 30 songs playlist, since the man has produced so much work in his career.

Could someone make one for Kraftwerk or Aphex Twin? All the albums from 1974's Autobahn to Tour De France Soundtracks from 2003 (haven't heard their early stuff) are in my opinion great listens but i made a playlist with some of the best songs: 1. The Robots (from The Man Machine) 2 . Europe Endless (from Trans-Europe Express) 3 . Autobahn (from Autobahn) 4. (Geiger Counter as an intro) Radioactivity (from Radio-Activity) 5. Computer World (from Computer World) 6. The Model (from The Man Machine) 7. Tour de France 1983 (single / from Tour De France Soundtracks) 8. The Hall Of Mirrors (from Trans-Europe Express) 9. Numbers (from Computer World) 10. Neon Lights (from The Man Machine) 11. The Man Machine (from Minimum-Maximum) 12. Computer Love (from Computer World)13. Vitamin (from Tour De France Soundtracks) 14. The Telephone Call (from Techno Pop) 15. Radioactivity (from The Mix) 16. Morgenspaziergang (from Autobahn) Many of their best tracks also make up multi-part suites that work best as a coherent whole: 1. Trans Europe Express / Metal On Metal / Abzug (from Trans-Europe Express) 2. Prologue / TDF Ètape 1 / TDF Ètape 2 / TDF Ètape 3 / Chrono (from Tour De France Soundtracks) 3. Home Computer / It's More Fun To Compute (from Computer World) 4. Boing Boom Tschak / Techno Pop / Musique Non Stop (from Techno Pop)

The Jesus and Mary Chain Echo and the Bunnymen I know a few songs. I love them both - Bunnymen and Mary Chain. Saw Bunnymen last January for the 3rd time. The Jesus and Mary Chain: The Complete John Peel Session (highly recommended. Their cover of "My Girl" is "must" to listen) Here Comes Alice (my most favourite Mary Chain's song) Taste The Floor You Trip Me Up Sidewalking (I would love to hear Ian Brown covering this song some day) Just Like Honey (probably the most known Mary Chain song) Psycho Candy Echo and The Bunnymen: The Killing Moon (you can't talk about them without mentioning this song, can you?) Lips Like Sugar Rescue Going Up Villiers Terrace Do It Clean Stars Are Stars Crocodilles The Cutter Back Of Love Heads Will Roll All That Jazz *I'm sure matt can fill farther for the Bunnymen.

IMO the first four Bunnymen albums are up there with The Smiths first fours.

The Who playlist (CD in car)? I'm not familiar with all of their songs so I might miss something. 60s WHO I can't Explain The Kids Are Alright Happy Jack I Can See for Miles Pictures of Lily My Generation Anyway Anyhow Anywhere I'm a Boy Substitute Magic Bus Pinball Wizard 70s WHO Baba O'Reilly Behind Blue eyes Won't Get Fooled Again My Wife The Real Me 5:15 Love Reign Over Me Who Are You? Emminence Front You Better You Bet That said, The Who are best enjoyed live. The albums are great but if you listen to The Kids Are Alright soundtrack, BBC Sessions or (especially) Live at Leeds, you really get a feel for just how powerful this band were.

Ian McCulloch's voice has been completely reformed past decades, but somehow it never annoys me. In inner sleeve of Mary Chain's "The Complete John Peel Session", there's a comment by Alan McGeee. "Without the Mary Chain, there would have been no Stone Roses. Without the Stone Roses, there would have been no Oasis". I'm not saying that I disagree, Mr. McGee, but what about The Smiths if you think about the Noel Gallagher's songwriting in his early years?

70s rock? This one'e mine! Give me five... OK, here goes... 1. Black Dog 2. Whole Lotta Love3. Since I've Been Loving You4. Babe I'm Gonna Love You5. Dazed and Confused6. The Lemon Song7. Going to California 8. Trampled Under Foot 9. Kashmir 10. The Rain Song 11. Achilles Last Stand 12. No Quarter 13. Tangerine 14. Stairway To Heaven Sorry for the wait. I've had to be brutal and cut a lot great stuff out, because of the sheer length of the songs (even with only 14 tunes, the playlist runs for over an hour and a half), and so as not to over face you - I know you're not a blues rocker by default (to be fair, neither am I, but Zeppelin were a cut about the rest). If you like what you hear, their best albums to try out on Spotify or whatever, are Physical Graffiti and Led Zeppelin IV.

CD1 would be perfect if it had Kashmir and All My Love, which are in CD2. But they have too many songs for just one disk so you're always going to miss something.

Just been furiously hamfisting a Led Zeppelin one together and after much blood, sweat and tears I've concluded something. It's fucking impossible.
Throw yourself in.*
*Or grab a copy of Mothership as has been previously been suggested. And if you're looking for an album to start on definitely go for Led Zeppelin IV. Worked for me!

The Jesus and Mary Chain Echo and the Bunnymen I know a few songs. Add Over The Wall, Ocean Rain and Silver to that list for the Bunnymen. Unbelievable tunes.

I've got one of their albums, Fear of a Black Planet, it's really good but it is a long album. Some key tracks off that I'd recommend are: Contract on the World Love Jam Brothers Gonna Work it Out 911 is a Joke Burn Hollywood Burn B-side Wins Again War on 33 1/3 Revolutionary Generation Fight the Power If you like those 8 tracks, I'd pick up the album
