Some Might Say Whatever Stand by Me Stop Crying Your Heart Out Gas Panic! I'm Outta Time Little by Little Wonderwall Don't Look Back in Anger All Around the World Rock 'n' Roll Star Cigarettes & Alcohol Falling Down Champagne Supernova Supersonic Live Forever Acquiesce
Some additional album tracks or b-sides that could be thrown in there: Bag It Up The Turning Stay Young Rockin' Chair She's Electric Underneath the Sky Listen Up Don't Go Away Going Nowhere Idler's Dream Born on a Different Cloud Let's All Make Believe Love Like a Bomb Where Did It All Go Wrong? Fade In-Out Hung in a Bad Place Bring It On Down Step Out The Fame/Flashbax Roll It Over Married with Children

I would like one for Neil Young. My mom is a fan, so I've heard quite a bit while growing up, but I can't really remember what, apart from a few more well known songs such as Heart Of Gold, Old Man, etc., so it's fine if you include some of the more well known songs. I want to listen to more of his music, but I just don't know what to start with. It definitely can be hard knowing where to start with Neil. I'm a huge fan, got all 40 or so of his albums and live releases etc. Have been lucky enough to see him live and share a hometown with him Generally speaking, the 1969-1979 output is pretty much as perfect as can be, can't go wrong with any of those albums. The 1989-1999 is his renaissance period as godfather of grunge and folky elder, not a bad record here either. His 2000-present output I am a big fan of, its Neil exploring his areas of interests and passions and while some projects work better than others, its always exciting to hear what he will come up with. I would leave his 1980-1988 output until last. I enjoy it now but it took me a good few years as a Neil fan before I dove into those weird waters. As for a playlist...I like the idea of the beaten path (biggest hits) and road less travelled (fan favourites) Biggest HitsCinnamon Girl Helpless After the Goldrush Only Love Can Break your Heart Needle and the Damage Done Heart of Gold Like a Hurricane Hey Hey My My Rockin in the Free World Harvest Moon Fan FavouritesSugar Mountain Cowgirl in the Sand I Believe in You Mellow My Mind Ambulance Blues Cortez the Killer Powderfinger Love and Only Love I am the Ocean Silver and Gold

No one's asked for it and I know there aren't many people here into them (apart from @mimmihops) but all day I've been making a personal favourites list for the Buzzcocks. I'm a fan who enjoys their 1977-82 classics as much as their releases since reuniting (even though the early stuff is without a doubt classic)
You Say You Don't Love Me Reconciliation I Don't Mind Disappointment Nostalgia Friends Mad Mad Judy Isolation Love is Lies You Know You Can't Help It Autonomy Running Free
Like Oasis, Buzzcocks have 2 front men: Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle. The first half is songs by Pete Shelley, the second Steve Diggle songs. Both great but mentioned that in case someone thought they changed singers midway through.

At the very least, if you're trying to get into REM listen to 1. Radio Free Europe 2. Life and How to Live It 3. Begin the Begin 4. Cuyahoga 5. Fall On Me Lifes Rich Pageant is just as perfect a record as Automatic for the People and probably more easily accessible. Requests: Supergrass and Pulp. I know they're iconic Britpop bands but never got around to really giving them a shot.

Supergrass
If you like Oasis there is no way you won't like Supergrass.
I'd Like to know Caught By The Fuzz Mansize rooster Alright Time Richard III (it sounds so much like Oasis) Late in the Day Sun hits the Sky Going Out (very similar to the song BHN, that feel good as fuck feeling) Moving Mary Pumping on your Stereo Rush hour Soul Seen the light Grace Road to Rouen Low C (very lennonesque, sounds like something Liam would write) When I needed You

The River, Nebraska, 18 Tracks are the records I've listened to. Nebraska and 18 tracks is raw (but 18 tracks is a complication of demos and acoustic sessions), and Nebraska is demo-ish as well. All heartfelt acoustic numbers with that great voice he has. The River is more full band and sonically produced.

It is not my intention to anger any rabid Neil Young fans, but I think the soundtrack to Dead Man is easily Neil Young's best work and a great place to start.
Jack White recently refurbished this little sound booth called a Voice-O-Graph and Mr. Young recorded two albums in it. Not for everyone, but I love the sound. I have a playlist of those tunes here:
Changes Girl From The North Country Needle Of Death Early Morning Rain Crazy Reason To Believe On The Road Again If You Could Only Read My Mind Since I Met You Baby My Hometown I Wonder If I Care As Much Blowin' In The Wind The Needle And The Damage Done

Oh man I've listened to so much Pavement in the past few years, easy in my top 5 of all time and it's been such a joy getting to know them that I feel compelled to help others do the same. Stephen Malkmus is a genius, the quality and quantity of his output in the 90s is mind blowing; there's so much going on in the songs that they stand up really well to repeated listening, though some might take a few listens to sink in. The other guitarist in the band goes by the name Spiral Stairs, he tends to write and sing a couple off each album which are a bit more melodically straightforward but no less great (Kennel District and Passat Dream are his). Honestly if there's one word I could use to describe Pavement it'd probably be interesting, so many ideas and nothing sounds phoned in or like the band are on autopilot (cough, Noel...). I've gone for more accessible songs but covering most aspects of the band's sound; it's about half and half between singles and album tracks plus one B-side, and ordered them so as to be cohesive (put some of the most accessible stuff at the start too, nice and gentle). It's hard for me to imagine listening to Pavement with fresh ears but if you enjoy this then you're sure to enjoy the rest of the band's work, I'd start with the Crooked Rain or Brighten The Corners albums after this if you're so inclined Gold Soundz Kennel District Rattled By The Rush Stereo Harness Your Hopes Grave Architecture Father To A Sister Of Thought Major Leagues Here Embassy Row Passat Dream Range Life Grounded

1. Like a Rolling Stone 2. It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) 3. Subterranean Homesick Blues 4. Things Have Changed 5. Positively Fourth Street 6. Ballad of a Thin Man 7. Mr. Tambourine Man 8. Visions of Johanna 9. Knockin' on Heaven's Door 10. Don't Think Twice, It's Alright 11. Talkin' World War III Blues 12. Make You Feel My Love 13. Desolation Row 14. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue 15. Not Dark Yet I've left out any songs from Blood on the Tracks, his best album, so that if you enjoy this you can dive into that without having heard anything before. It's absolute genius.
