advertising and the media make people and things other than what they really are, even in music to become famous it is important that talk about you in rock/pop music this are the band that in my opinion are overrated
coldplay: too much mainstream after the second record muse: like coldplay killers: like coldplay green day: in 90's they was ok, after american idiot there isn't a decent record kasabian: first album good, second decent, third good, velociraptor halfway decent, 48:13 no good stone roses: first record very good, second decent. too little considering the success they have sex pistols: also they have done very little foo fighters: They have made many records but only a few have been successful, much of the credit for their success to give to Dave Ghrol and his character

I find Oasis an intriguing case study...
Overrated in the UK and underrated in the US.
It's weird, right?

Think of this... in the UK they are universally known on par with The Beatles, The Stones, etc. in the US they have album sales and notoriety on par with Barenaked Ladies for crying out loud. Seriously. You can go look it up.

Reading through this thread, I'd almost forgotten the slight uncertainty surrounding Radiohead prior to LP9. A Moon Shaped Pool just feels like a natural Radiohead album now, but if someone had said in 2015 that LP9 would be a sad acoustic mix of strings and orchestras, bookended by Burn the Witch and True Love Waits, and on a quality level similar to In Rainbows, they would have looked like a very wishful thinker indeed.
Anyway, Glass Animals are overrated.

You might think Oasis was overrated in the UK, but if you think about how bad British music in the 80s was, Oasis literally was like an oasis in the desert of music. The Madchester movement was more in the late 80s, and wasn't really mainstream. Some can say that the Madchester kind of built up Britpop. Really, Oasis was that essential back in the days. Yeah, Oasis is underrated in the US. But not much in Europe.

They are purely aesthetic music. They sound fucking great, sublime slick production, and they occupy a certain vibe well, but damn they really aren't that interesting. Their best songs always come off a bit cheap.
