**UPDATING** 1. "Riverman" -- Contains massive guitar solo at beginning (played by Paul Stacey) -- Contain sax solo -- Modeled after "Pinball" by Brian Protheroe -- "Drifts on a blissful acoustic grove, before building to a sky scraping guitar solo and a gentle sax solo" -- "It's the sound of 1970's Sunset Boulevard with Santana playing lead guitar over a pothead groove, and a Pink Floyd saxophone player in the background". 2. "In the Heat of the Moment" -- Heard 3. "The Girl with the X-Ray Eyes" -- Was mentioned as a stand-out track by a forum member who's heard the album 4. "Lock All the Doors" -- Old Oasis song -- (Re) Written coming out of Tesco's by Boots -- Punk rocky -- "Nicked a bit from 'Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't Have) by the Buzzcocks". 5. "The Dying of the Light" -- Demo heard -- Much more "epic-sounding" according to Noel -- Can be heard in the "It's Never Too Late To Be What You Might Have Been" documentary 6. "The Right Stuff" -- From AA sessions, reworked -- Described as "space jazz" and "emotionally involved" -- "The farthest from Supersonic as you can get" and "avant-garde with a lot of nonsense." -- "proper psychedelic jazz" 7. "While the Song Remains the Same" -- Contains the line "Walk down the streets of our lives while they still remain" -- Contains the line "chasing yesterday" 8. "The Mexican" -- From AA sessions, reworked -- Described recently as a light "throwaway" after track 5, 6, and 7, which are all "emotionally involved" -- Described by Noel as a "perfect single" and a "great pop song with a good riff like ITHOTM" -- "stomper" 9. "You Know We Can't Go Back" -- Steve Lamaq's favorite track -- Contains line "It's alright knowing you can't go back" 10. "Ballad of Mighty I" -- Been described as everything from "disco" to "funky" to "bass-driven" to spy-movie "soundtrack" -- Recorded during the AA session and a contender for the self-titled debut as well WHAT ELSE??

"Ballad of the Mighty I" was recorded during the AA session and a contendor for the self-titled debut as well, according to the Steve Lamacq interview of yesterday. Snippets of "The Dying of the Light" could also be heard in the "It's Never Too Late To Be What You Might Have Been" documentary on the first album sessions, so technically it's another "leftover".

Thanks nghfbs
He described The Right Stuff as "avanguard (or vanguard, sorry) with a lot of nonsense. But it was fun"
Also The Mexican as a "perfect single". "Great pop song with a good riff like ITHOTM"

I think it was only a few seconds of acoustic guitar noodling in the background anyway, but it is in there, somewhere! Just like Do The Damage, which is more prominently featured when Noel is trying to figure out how to sing the "Maybe"-bit. I might have to watch this again. By the way, I think two different cuts of the documentary were made, one for the special album edition and another one that was aired on TV, with little differences though if I remember right. So possibly the snippet might appear only in one of them. I'm sure someone else knows more, however!

I think that the first track right at the beginning is The Dying of the Light as well...

Yeah, the beginning of the video also plays Dying of the Light.
It's incredible how many songs were kind of "left over" when you thing of it. Ballad of The Mighty I, Right Stuff, Dying of the Light. (the first album was basically written still on oasis). makes you think why he holds them back and why he chose to hold these ones.
now, whenever there's a snippet of him playing something during this video, I wonder if it's part of a song from Chasing Yesterday.

He described The Right Stuff as "avanguard (or vanguard, sorry) with a lot of nonsense. But it was fun" Avant-garde.

Watched that one quite a few times and still didn't remember it at all. Another song that was left over it seems...why he didn't use it as a b-side during the first album run is anybody's guess. (Starts at about 4:33 btw)

I think I'm really excited for it because although there are some songs left over from previous album sessions that we are familiar with, some of the songs are coming straight from post-Oasis Noel Gallagher, which is really exciting to me

Paul Stacey plays the guitar solo on Riverman and the bass on Mighty I (I'm hoping Mighy I echoes Gas Panic)

I was a little bit worried about The Ballad of the Mighty I. He said that it's like a Spy Movie Soundtrack and that's encouraging.

His solo sure flopped at the end of STC. The demo solo is 10x better. FUCK. OFF. YOU. REBEL. SCUM.

It's ironic, for a guy who claims to write new songs all the time, he sure likes to use "older" material. - Do The Damage - Ballad of The Mighty I - The Right Stuff - Girl With The X-Ray Eyes - Dying of The Light - Freaky Teeth - Revolution Song - Lock All The Doors Very similar to him using older Oasis era demos like.... - Everybody's On The Run - Dream On - If I Had A Gun - The Death of You and Me - Record Machine - Stranded On The Wrong Beach - Stop The Clocks - The Good Rebel - A Simple Game of Genius

He writes some songs, moves on to new ones and the list grows. Then he decides another album is due and so he goes to the list and grabs the top(oldest) songs and decides which one are decent enough to be in the batch. Maybe he occasionally grabs a new tune he's written, but mostly he's picking from the oldest just to get them out of the way.

Screw seniority for seniority sake.

That's what I think too. Just pick the best tracks. Why make a mediocre album when you could make a great album? That would be a shame.
