How is Liam supposed to suddenly have enough good songs to make a solo album? How do you know what songs he has right now? I don't, and neither does anyone else around here. But my bet is, if he had an album worth of good tracks up his sleeve, he would've released them with Beady Eye. Or maybe he let them have the average ones and was secretly stockpiling the good ones for a future solo album?

Gem's The Roller was better than quite a few of the Oasis songs put out on HC and beyond. Noel had songs that didn't get consideration for DOYS and has just finished a Lock All The Doors for this record! Liam might have nothing but he might have a lot of demo's around that need finishing or tinkering. Judging from what he has said before and what we've heard about how much he writes it would be reasonable to assume he has a few knocking about.

Yeah. I was really surprised when I found out it had already been there since the HC period.

Exactly, it would have gone on both those albums quite nicely and would have been superior to 5 or 6 on each. Well definitely better than 5 or 6 on HC.

We'll never what form it was in or the progression it took from HC to DGSS. Before horns were put on FOTF would any have chosen it as an album track? Maybe as something to be developed, which appears to have happened multiple times, but not as an outright album track based on an acoustic performance alone.

Well one song (FOTF) began as an instrumental during the Death In Vegas sessions. On the other hand, The Roller fits perfectly the description Noel gave of the song back in the winter of 2000. I can't imagine it sounded too different from how it ended up on DGSS.

I agree with FOTF definitely, the horns are pretty big part of the finish studio song and while the band I think said they wanted the horns on it maybe it hadn't occurred to them before. I may be being ignorant but with The Roller I just imagine the demo having acoustic guitar and piano, I don't know it just seems like it would have. It was formed well enough for Noel to praise it.

Imagine how better "Don't Believe The Truth" could have been with the additions of The Roller, Record Machine and Boy With The Blues?

Oh, that's the easy part! - The Meaning of Soul (The Roller) - Keep The Dream Alive (Record Machine) - Let There Be Love (Boy With The Blues)

I was just thinking about that.
Turn up the Sun Mucky Fingers Lyla Love Like a Bomb The Importance of Being Idle The Meaning of Soul Guess God Thinks I'm Abel *Boy With The Blues* *The Roller* A Bell Will Ring *Record Machine*
That would be mine I think.

It's an okay song. For me it is way too slow and just crawls through the entire 5 minutes. I really liked Noel's old acoustic demo from the SOTSOG sessions. If you put a gun to my head, I'd go Boy With The Blues every time.

While we're on the subject I thought Meaning of Soul was brilliant live with the extended intro. It's awful as an acoustic song on the album though

Either Liam's secretly a songwriting genius and he's been holding the good songs back from Beady Eye, in which case he's a massive knobhead. Or he's already released his best material, which stank the place up, in which case he's just useless/untalented. So which is he? A knobhead or useless/untalented? Some would say all of the above, although I wouldn't dare suggest that...

Wow, it's that shit that you can already smell it a year before it's released? all your constant bashing is getting very tiring. You don't like him, fine. You've made your point several times. Now move on Why would you say I don't like Liam? I love Liam. He's been my hero for 20 years. But I can also see that Liam has been acting like an utter knobhead for the past 3, 4 years.

This is a bit unlikely and unfortunately I have to agree with your post, although I think you could have phrased it a bit differently. *sings* Why you gotta be so ruuuuude?

Liam has consistently written some decent tunes. I see no reason why he can't write some more. He will definitely need a guiding hand though. I don't know if you have seen leak4ever before mate but he's one of the most boring troll around. Unfortunately he keeps turning up.
