Haven t played it a few feeks, but yeasterday I put in on just after I heard In the heat of the moment (not comparing) and when Flick of the finger kicked off i was like....fuckin hell...amazed as I was when I heard it first time. Not going to lick Liams arse...but definitely an album that is not far from being called great. Had it s strong moments, had some tunes than I skipping....but overall not boring. Shame it did not do better ... still have the poster that was included in LP on my wall

FOTF really is a great tune, from the intro to the outro..
Beady Eye really came up with a good tune there.. they have a few great songs:
Flick of the Finger, Four letter word, The roller, Stat anew, I'm just saying, The Morning Son etc..they should keep building on them for their (possible) next album

Still I'm still going with FOTF, personally as being the better tune. Those horns. Those horns = Prodigy's Stand Up

Those horns = Prodigy's Stand Up If were being honest, we could find similarities to every song in existence to something that's been done before. If it's the case that BE were in fact directly inspired by the song you mentioned, then it's my opinion that they did far better than Prodigy.

I know no one really agrees with me but In the Bubble With a Bullet is my favorite BE song. God I love that intro riff and melody of that song, it's amazing to ne It is indeed a good song. But it suffers the same fate as most Beady Eye songs; it isn't complete. What I mean is, its fukcing brilliant up until the last bit where they sing four rounds of "cos we do what we want....." You get this a lot with Liam. A flash of pure genius, but somehow fails to deliver the whole package, unfortunately.

BE is still after all this time my favourite post oasis album. In my opinion it's better than most oasis albums.
Flick of the finger & start anew absolute classics, up there with some of oasis's best songs!

Have been listening to this album a lot this week. Can't get enough of it. I have never disliked it, but at the moment I love it! It's a shame we don't have more live shows from the BE Tour.

One of my favourites album. That's it.
Soul Love with my new Philips Fidelio L2 is amazing. Great production.
This album sold 65,000 copies. What a shame.

Around release date i thought it was around a solid 7/10. Listened to it yesterday for the first time in months, wouldn't give it more then a 5/10. Most songs are as mentioned before 'incomplete', and except for FOTF, Iz Rite, SAL it's pretty forgettable. Most of the good things on this album are credited to Dave Sitek IMO. My favourite tunes other than the ones mention before (not counting the production, just the tunes) are Off At The Next Exit, Back After The Break and (my favourite BE song) Evil Eye. Ballroom Figured is pretty good as well, but a bit too long. DGSS wasn't really a lot better or worse than BE, but BE just had better production. Songs still are incomplete imo.

I voted a 6/10, still have it a 6/10.
As an album, so bonus tracks not included....the album itself, tracks 1-11, it's just better than DGSS. I actually think the songwriting was stronger on DGSS than BE, but BE is a more complete sound which gives it the edge from where it lacks. There are good parts of BE, but really it's just far too inconsistent. For FOTF there's a Face the Crowd. For every great line there's the lyrics to Second Bite of the Apple or a 1, 2, 3.
If the poll were the songs during the BE era, the era would probably get a 7.5/10 just based on the bonus tracks, which as good as a song as Evil Eye is, it still comes off as incomplete with an ending that still feel awkward to me, as if they couldn't find a way to really end the song (sometimes I think of it as a lesser version of Boy with the Blues). But those songs aren't actually on the album, instead it's tracks 1-11 that quickly frankly are only slightly above average.
In the end, it was always a step in the right direction, but never enough steps to warrant me to continually revisit it. It would have been nice to see if Beady Eye could have progressed a bit more and fully turned the corner on their musical vision. However, maybe BE was a fitting end. Just like many of their songs their story was left somewhat incomplete.

When I bought the album a year and a half ago, I thought it was great: 7.5/10. Listening back to it now I still think it's great and it's an album I've gone back to frequently.
Standouts for me are Flick of the Finger, Iz Rite, Start Anew, Off At The Next Exit and Evil Eye (ridiculous that this was a Japanese bonus track). The production is excellent and IMO helps the album surpass Different Gear, Still Speeding.

I voted a 6/10, still have it a 6/10. Same. The good tracks are still good (Soon Come Tomorrow, FOTF), the bonus tracks are still absolutely amazing (Off at the Next Exit is ridiculously good) but the album has too many fillers that I have no intention ever to listen to again. Soul Love, Face the Crowd, Shine a Light, Don't Brother Me...B-side material. Swap in the bonus tracks and it's a 7-8/10, as it is, fine but not great.

I think the BE bonus tracks/b sides are a good sample of what a Liam solo album with contributing artists could sound like. I still think a couple of years on that collection of 6 songs are an absolute gem. I really think Liam should just go solo and make these sorts of albums and play smaller theatres with a Dreams we had as children sort of semi acoustic set up

My perfect BE. A great modern (almost) "folk" album, full of beautiful melodies and clever production. It flows with no need to sound like a hit machine but more like a srtong piece of music.Quality.12 tracks, 1 cd, double vinyl.
1. "Flick of the Finger" 3:46 2. "Soul Love" 5:10 3. "Second Bite of the Apple" 3:28
4. "Evil Eye" 5:01 5. "Back After the Break" 4:09 6. "Iz Rite" 3:26
7. "Soon Come Tomorrow" 4:58 8. "Girls in Uniform" 6:23 9. "Off at the Next Exit" 3:36
10. "Dreaming of Some Space" 1:51 11. "Don't Brother Me" 7:30 12. "Start Anew" 4:29

Mine at the moment. Agreed on the "strong piece of music" but not a "hit driven record".
More like a cohesive effort that's not as bad as people think. But i guess that kinda of music isn't fashionable at the moment. It'll come back around.
Flick Of The Finger Face The Crowd The World's Not Set In Stone Evil Eye Soul Love I'm Just Saying Iz Rite Ballroom Figured Back After The Break Shine A Light Dreaming Of Some Space Start Anew

Like The last post said. Strong Piece of music but no Hits, which is no Problem for me. Like The mood and darker atmosphere much more than The 60s pop of Dgss. Still one of The best Gallagher releases for me.

There's some really good songs on this, and it's a shame the fanbase had dwindled from DGSS for some reason because this album was what BDI was (somewhat) about. It's a shame that Off at the Next Exit and Back After the Break were left off because they were both wonderful tunes. BATB even had a really nice build-up to the chorus, and a great chorus itself. It showed what the band, especially Gem, was capable of.
My favorite tracks are Soon Come Tomorrow, Start Anew, Flick of the Finger, Soul Love, and Second Bite of the Apple. They're all great songs, despite SBOTA suffering from shite lyrics, but I love the instrumentation on it. It's just fucking awesome. So awesome, that Top Gear even used it on a promo, and even in an actual episode (Yacht vs. Toyota Corolla). SCT is awesome at retro space-like psychedelia, and is beautiful. SA is really cool with its simplicity. SL is very modern and this is where Dave Sitek's great production shines. It's one of Liam's best and sounds like a bit of a dance track, in a way. FOtF is just pure cool, and a mini-epic. God Bless it.
Ideal Tracklist for the album for me:
1. Flick of the Finger 2. Soul Love 3. Back After the Break 4. Face the Crowd 5. Second Bite of the Apple 6. Soon Come Tomorrow 7. Off at the Next Exit 8. Iz Rite 9. I'm Just Saying 10. Evil Eye 11. Start Anew

The annoying thing about Beady Eye is that that LAG clearly stepped up their game songwriting wise for both DGSS / BE, however both the albums just needed the worst 4 or 5 songs removed and replaced with some NG magic and both albums would instantly be so much better.
Imagine if Oasis had put out this album in 2011
Everybody's On The Run Four Letter Word The Roller The Death Of You And Me Bring the Light What A Life For Anyone Wigwam If I Had A Gun Broken Arrow The Morning Son
That would have easily been the best 21st century oasis album

Thinking about it now, the only track i actually listen to sometimes on purpose is Off At The Next exit, the rest is all forgettable imo, maybe FOTF isn't but it's a bit overrated imho
