Well what do you think?
Initial reaction is that I think its great, without any real wow moments, a solid album.
I think SBOTA and Shine A Light are the weakest after first listen.

8 or 7/10. The songs are all pretty good quality other than SBOTA which I have no idea why they chose to be the first official single. Favourite tracks after my first few listens are Face The Crowd (which I hated when I heard the low quality leak), Soon Come Tomorrow, Iz Rite and Start Anew.

Face The Crowd is the quickest grower. Just laying it out.

FOTF -8.5/10. Fantastic vibe. At first listen, it was a solid 7, but it is still growing on me. Keep listening on repeat.
SL - 7/10. I like it. Second example in a row of how a good production can enrich a song.
Face The Crowd. 5/10. Very average for me. At the level of Standing At the Edge of the Noise
Second Bite of the Apple. 5/10. Does nothing for me, but I don't skip it. Cannot understand this is a single.
Soon Come Tomorrow. 3/10. Sorry, but I don't get the hype for this. For me it's boring as hell.
Iz Rite - 7/10. I must admit I initially thought it was shite (a Beatles pastiche). But after listening to the high quality recording several times, I changed my mind.
I'm just saying. 6/10. The opposite happened with this one. After listening the phone recording, I thought it would be better. But I still think it is ok.
Don't Brother Me. 2/10. Boring as Hell. I have to force myself to listen until the end. When my girlfriend listens to this one, she always starts laughing at the lyrics.
Shine a Light. 5/10. Too long, but not so bad. Still a filler.
Ballroom Figured. 5/10. Another filler.
Start Anew. 7/10. If Liam had cared to finish it, it could be an Oasis-related classic at the level of I'm Outta Time or even better. As it is, it is only a good song.
Average: 5.5/10
Sorry, but for me DGSS was better (maybe a 7/10). The production was much worse but the songs were stronger.

Much better than DGSS. Most song on DGSS sucked. Also better than NGHFB. An ok album. Something like this:
FOTF - 7/10. Good, but too repetitive.
SL - 7,5/10.
Face The Crowd. 4/10.
Second Bite of the Apple. 5/10.
Soon Come Tomorrow. 6,5/10.
Iz Rite - 5/10.
I'm just saying. 6,5/10.
Don't Brother Me. 6,5/10.
Shine a Light. 6/10.
Ballroom Figured. 6,5/10.
Start Anew. 7,5/10.

i love it, but i don't want to give a statement, without hearing it at home in better quality, without searching for songs on youtube.

I would say its a good 8/10 album for me, Really digging the new sound it's a good change, Soul love is my fave amazing track, Shine a light is mega too headphones in its really good! Soon come tomorrow another great track.
As for "don't brother me" It's brutal! Awful lyrics shit melody a crazy long outro.....for what reason who knows it just keeps going for what seems an eternity! Piss poor!

I felt disappointed after listening to the poor quality rip and after listening to better version I still feel disappointed.
I think start anew could have been a stand out song and a main single on the album if the production was different and not the drawn out production of a last album track. Dont get me wrong, I do really like the song and I do like the production, but its a much better song than most of the others on the album

What does the poll say on average? (Can't see the results without voting, and I haven't listened yet)

Glad to see people aren't over-reacting or letting the "recency-effect" get the best of them.
I agree with the consensus, very average effort from the lads. I'm not sure if they have it in them to make a good album, the songwriting just isn't there, or if it is, it's barely consistent enough through a song, let alone through an entire album. Very disappointing.

To be honest, I haven`t given the album a whole proper listen. I gave some tracks a listen. Soul Love is a good track, definitely a grower. But I have in mind to wait for the bonus tracks, and THEN have a proper listen!
I have this thing where I go and bunch all the tracks together in an album, and listen through altogether. Because the album, and the bonus tracks + the Japan Bonus Tracks I think will be game for a complete listen when all bonus tracks hit the grid.

I can't see the poll result, was just agreeing with the majority of the comments in this thread that were posted before mine. I wonder if TheNeedleDrop is going to review it like he reviewed DGSS? That'd be great publicity for the band in the states tbh.
