You know what hurt sales in the US? Never releasing it in the US. No sales = hurt sales. Why skip over America's massive market? Surely they'd at least have gotten a thousand sales if not more. I think it might have come down to the album art and the band's lack of popularity. American businessman - "Beady who?", "Nudity on the cover?" "Take it elsewhere." No nudity on the cover. There have been plenty of albums with controversial covers that have been altered or censored to sell in retail stores. The cover had nothing to do with its release in the US.

The album got a US release via Harvest Records did it not? There is also a promo release for Soul Love / Iz Rite too. Schorman kindly shared a rip of it. According to Amazon it was released on Nov 19. I believe thats the same time it was released on the US itunes store. Six months after the worldwide release with no promotion. If anybody in the US wanted it they would have bought it months ago.

There is a very clear nipple exposed. I'm looking at it this very moment. Many controversial album covers indeed, but they probably sold. It's worth the troublet. Beady Eye doesn't sell well enough in the U.S. Any alterations, reprints cost money. They may not wanted to have forked that out. Kept it simple. If you have an alternate theory for why they didn't bother with the U.S, I'd love to hear it. For now, I'm going with my own theory. As someone that lives in America, specifically the south, knowing the mindset when it comes to nakedness of any type, people here flip shit.

After a few months out of it, i gotta say it's a pretty good record.
With added bsides and a few stinkers removed, that is. Shame that didn't work coz i would have loved the competition between BDI and NGHFB

I do and I really enjoy it and still think, that it's a great album overall. There is no song for me, that I need to skip, altough some are weaker in my ears, like "face the crowd" and "I'm just sayin", which was trying too hard to sound like Oasis in my ears.

Yeah, I do. I don't often put the record in anymore, but I don't with HFB or DGSS either. I usually don't skip them when I run across one on shuffle and sometimes I search them out just to hear a few songs.
But my interests have peaked lately in discovering other music that's new to my ears. Still like all the tunes, well except for Apple.

I do, too. I've grown to really love that album and always enjoy it.

Does anyone listen to BE anymore? TBH i rarely listen to Oasis either. But when i do, i fire the whole discography. Same goes for BDI and NGHFB. BDI made some decent records. Whatever people say, given the competition today, there's quality. No classic records, but good records.

As I said before, BE is a good record, not great, but a good piece of work by Liam, Andy, Gem and Chris trying to something new. It's a shame that they had so many "bad luck" around the time of release.

Hey come on, Noel's new album is around the corner and we're stuck here discussing BE ? Everybody leave this thread right now and go to HFB section. It's an order.

We're already there, F.P. BE is still relevant.

Listened to it yesterday after a few weeks. Must say it´s a great record. FOTF, Soul Love (without the long outro), Face The Crowd, Second Bite, Iz Rite (wasn´t a big fan of the song before), Just Saying, Shine A Light, Start Anew (a shorter version), World Not Set In Stone, Off At The Next Exit, Evil Eye.
Those are all great songs. The Rest is a bit meh but to me those 11 songs are BE. A few more rockers instead of the Accoustic stuff would be great but still, i really hope they make another record. FOTF alone shits all over NGHFB!

I don't listen to it every day or week but I play it a hell of a lot more than I ever did with Different Gear, Still Speeding or High Flying Birds. In fact with both of those albums I now have them as playlists to include b-sides / bonus tracks rather than quite a few album tracks.
The deluxe edition has some of their best songs, and Evil Eye is a cracking tune. The only song I'm not a massive fan of on BE is Face The Crowd but I can deal with it. The only other change I'd make would be to change Don't Brother Me to the 42.42 mix as I feel that fits the vibe a lot better.

Does anyone listen to BE anymore? The answer to your question would seem to be a yes. Yes, I can see the 5 people that actually bought the album are still listening to it Just kidding..I was just curious. I listened to it a lot in the beginning but its kind of faded away for me, I actually re discovered Girls In Uniforms on the other day, it didn't do anything for me when it was first released but now I quite enjoy it.

Maybe I'll have to give Girls In Uniform another go. It was my least favourite when I first listened to the record.

Mate as usual why your the voice of reason and very respected mate. , HFB and DIFFERENT GEAR. are really poor imo. However the second BDI even though I dint love was a improvement , the real question now is will HFB show improvement ,the only thing I can really compare to this , not floyd / waters. Because roger was not as proficent after hitchhiking LP to me , but Van halen. / Roth Most people don't realize. GOING CRAZY FROM THE HEAT BY DAVE was held in higher regard than than Van hagars first lp,, In fact Carol miller the top DJ in NYC at time proclaimed DAVE the victor on air , but VH although i didn't like went on to much greater fame than roth after that, They improved Now Bdi only slightly improved with there second imo ...will noel now with 4 or 5 years of now adjusting to solo life be ready to blow away BDI last ?? Like Van hagar did the flowing 5 LPS. After there first , and make roth a sorta joke til they reunited ?? We shall see , if noel nails it , which I doubt , but if he does , liam will be in dire straights to come up with a answer , and I love liam
