The album is better than the mere sum of the songs in it. 7-8/10
I think "I believe in all" is better than any song here.

I can't see the poll result, was just agreeing with the majority of the comments in this thread that were posted before mine. I wonder if TheNeedleDrop is going to review it like he reviewed DGSS? That'd be great publicity for the band in the states tbh. Hahahaha! Why do you seem amused m8?

I’ve heard the whole album again and I am very disappointed (I really wanted it to be good.
I thought their first album was interesting at first and held my attention for a few months but there is nothing on the new record that makes me want to listen again.
I can’t believe they have actually released this, very poor song writing and stale ideas.
Obviously this is just my opinion but it is an honest one and not meant to aggravate anyone, I thought they would have thrown the k sink at this record but they haven’t.

6/10
It becomes dull once the newness wares off. I like Soon Come Tomorrow and Ballroom Figured.
Lyrics as a whole are pretty poor. They're masked in some places but on the whole they're a bit embarrassing and no, there's no point comparing them to early oasis lyrics.
The guitars throughout sound too tinny and sharp for me. The rockers end up sounding thin in the surface with no meat behind them. Its ok on FOTF because the horns beef it up.
FOTF: It starts great and I always think "Oh wow, why do I hate this" and after 30 second I remember. It gets old quickly and the best part is the intro. The quote is terrible. I really don't need a band full of millionaires lecturing me on the evils of capitalism.
Soul Love: Not having this one. Boring and just seems to repeat itself. Nearly two minutes of atmosphere at the end is unnecessary. 30 seconds would have been fine.
Face the Crowd: This album's Three Ring Circus. That's not a good thing. Not very memorable at all. The solo isn't bad but it sounds too much like the FLW solo. Crazy wah wah is fine but do something a bit different with it please.
Second Bite of the Apple: Just a bad song. Shouldn't have been on the album let alone a single. Sadly the chorus for this is probably the most memorable thing on the album.
Soon Come Tomorrow: I like this one. It's one of the few songs I'll still listen to when I tire of the album. Possibly goes on a bit. Holes in the heart bit sounds nice. Not very memorable but I like the song every time I hear it.
Iz Rite: Same as Face The Crowd. Not very good. I get the two mixed up.
I'm Just Saying: Not great but not terrible either. Kind of sounds like Hello but not as good. Makes me want to quit the song halfway through and just listen to Hello.
Don't Brother Me: Worst song on the album for me. The song itself is crap and the instrumental ending is too long and not needed. Breaks up the flow of the album.
Shine a Light: Sounds like an improved Beatles and Stones but on the whole it's still poor. Again, it goes on too long. I blame another long outro.
Ballroom Figured: I like this one too. The got the length of this one right as well. It doesn't overstay it's welcome with a minute and a half of nonsense for an outro. It's a bit simple so I hope I don't get sick of it but one of the highlights for sure.
Start Anew: Didn't really like the live version and I'm not crazy about this either although it is better than the acoustic version. Someone compared it to LTBL but I don't think it's as good as LTBL. It sounds nice but I don't like the singing on it. Something sounds off with Liam's voice. It just sounds out of place. Sounds a bit better when the drums kick in.
Overall it's a better album than DGSS (but that wouldn't be too hard). It sounds better as a unit. Once you start to split the tracks up the flaws become obvious. It sounds a bit dull when the newness rubs off of it. Still, it is much better than I expected but I think that just shows how low my expectations were (and justifiable after FOTF and SBOTA).
It won't win the band any new fans but it won't alienate too many either.

Glad to see people aren't over-reacting or letting the "recency-effect" get the best of them. I agree with the consensus, very average effort from the lads. I'm not sure if they have it in them to make a good album, the songwriting just isn't there, or if it is, it's barely consistent enough through a song, let alone through an entire album. Very disappointing. You're a right ray of sunshine, aren't you. It's almost as if you take pleasure in their failure(as per you BTW) to deliver musically which in a 'fan' I find rather sad and pathetic.

people simply aint giving them a chance and they could release let it be and youd slag it off,its a top real effort from the band totally different production but keeping with what they know, nothing wrong with the melodies,if they were a melodic band id see peoples point but they aint so the meldoies arent gonna be there!!liams vocals top notch, the band sound great and the production is excellent bear in mind people that youve not even heard the finished product!!SBOTA was the lead single because its a damn good track and keeps with the oasis/beady eye vibe while showing the general public theyve changed there tune alittle, and the response from general critics and public are that its a breath of fresh air and sounds great!the only people who dont like it are people who cant see past oasis and noel, and whats even more is the fact half these people got into oasis from DOYS ERA or just before and dont know what the band stand for.if this was oasis or noel itd be praised.

I'm really enjoying this album and one thing that really stands out for me is the bass work. Jeff did a fantastic job! If your listening to or planning to listen to the album, do it with headphones on. You can really hear the bass properly, adds a lot to the album IMO. The songs are also great. A few weak tracks but overall a very enjoyable album for me. This one's going to be on repeat for quite sometime!

7/10 first listen
it'll take a few months to really tell whether or not it'll hold up, can't tell if the songs will get better with age as I grasp the atmospheres as intricacies, or if they'll come up lacking in repeated listens.
yet.

i think some people wanted beady eye to suddenly turn to radiohead, even if they dont like radiohead. i think some people wanted beady eye to sound like oasis, even if they dont want beady eye to sound like oasis. i think some people wanted beady eye to write a Definitely maybe, even if they know that no band can write a definitely maybe again.not even Noel. i think some people even if the new beady eye album is gonna sound like radiohead, oasis, definitely maybe together, are not gonna like that album, cause you know , its Beady Eye...
personally i find that album great.a move forward, an enjoyble listen, with no fillers, with some great tracks and some very good ones.

I think it's ok, nothin' more. I think it's a more complete album than DGSS which to me sounded exactly like it was: a bunch of songs thrown together. I like how they've tried a different kind of sound instead of churnin' out same as first so for that they have my respect.

It's good, somewhere between 6 and 8 is my initial impression, which puts it a bit above DGSS. Nothing groundbreaking - the whole "out there, heavy, experimental" stuff is obviously not true, there still are too many songs with too little melodic progression for my taste, but also at least 3-4 really amazing songs (FOTF, Iz Rite, I'm Just Saying, Ballroom Figured) and a couple of possible growers. Production is good, although I would have loved if some more songs got the same treatment as FOTF.

FOTF 8/10 - New sound, progressive. First I found it weird but now I love it ! Soul Love 6/10 - A little bit repetitive maybe ? I always skip the end. Face The Crowd 4/10 I don't like it... I find it "wobbly" (except the part after 1'20) Second Bite of the Apple 7/10 - Just like FOTF, weird first, but now I really like it. Soon Come Tomorrow 6,5/10 - Nice ballad ! I love the "heartbeat" drums and the "chorus". But not the guitar solo. Outro a bit long... once again Iz Rite 7/10 - I needed several listens to love it. Love the bridge + chorus. I'm just saying 8/10 - Catchy ! Great guitar solo This is my time to shine Don't Brother Me 7/10 - Simple, great guitar sound, I love it ! "In the morning, I'll be calling (+ drums)" Best part form me ! Except the "cosmic whale song" at the end (-> SKIP) Shine a Light 9/10 - My favourite ! Love this sound, between George Michael / U2 / Simon and Garfunkel (weird isn't it ?) Except the Star Trek teleportation sound at 1'50 and 3'10 Ballroom Figured 8/10 - Simple, clean, acoustic, great vocals I'm looking for it live ! Start Anew 8/10 - Same as Ballroom Figured but too long. Thus far, I prefer the acoustic version. ≈ 7/10 I really love this album. Not a perfect album, but a great album, particularly the second part.

My full review is on the song by song thread but I love it. I've got more music to catch up on though so just like everything else I'm not going to wear it out in the first few weeks but I'm definitely looking forward to hearing it again. On every track on DGSS something annoyed me when I first heard it but this one was a breath of fresh air. The ball's in Noel's court now...

Hello Vespa, I dont think anyone is complaining about how Liam sounds, the production or how the band sound. It's the songs and the craftsmanship (if thats even a word) which has let them down.

I've only listened through once but I thought it was really good actually. It has an almost theatrical element in parts, I personally love the shift in sound as opposed to rolling out another 60's knock off. The weakest track for me is Don't Brother Me, it's the most unnecessary 7 minute song. Love Ballroom Figured. Overall very content so far.

6/10, just finished listening and feel quite underwhelmed. That may be due to listening to the beyond-poor quality leaks though.
Pros:
Nice production and 'atmosphere' Has a few 'big' songs Good shift in direction
Cons:
Alot of the lyrics, which hinder otherwise good songs Doesn't flow quite as well as I thought it would (personal opinion) The ending to 'Don't Brother Me' is far too long Has a FEW 'big' songs Liams voice sounds rough on some tracks, I know he wanted to keep it natural but still

i don't care if i get slaughtered with comments here, but as i said i don't care too much about lyrics, but more for the whole feeling of a song. and these songs deliver great feelings.
for me 9/10 and i feel that it will grow.
