I used to hate Fade In Out cos it sounded too much like Bon Jovi, but after I heard a live version, I started to like it, nowadays it's my most listened song from BHN I guess, love that scream and Liam's on it singing is very badass, love Alan's percussion and the way how the song explodes in the middle.

post BHN, for the most part whenever they had a good song on their hands, it ends up being a 5 and a half minute track, and usually its not the length but the way the song is constructed, it never feels interesting.
It dosent feel naturally long, it sounds like someone just said this song is awesome make it longer, I hate that, Its like, I enjoy the song but my gosh another chorus? repeated 4 times?

Still can't listen to it without imagining Jon Bon Jovi standing on the edge of a canyon somewhere in leather kecks.

I never thought about it, but yes, it certainly evokes a picture... ;D Back to topic: I still don't understand what The Swamp Song is doing on The Masterplan. Pointless waste of album space when they had a ton of other B-sides.

If ever there was proof that Oasis had to split up, it was the atrocious second half of Dig Out Your Soul. The most undignfied ending to an album I've ever heard - how Nature of Reality, To Be Where There's Life and Ain't Got Muffins got passed quality control is beyond all of us. You'd half expect burning effigies of the band at gigs in protest at this abomination! Soldier On is okay, but by then everyone's so pissed off they couldn't care less. This made me chuckle - and I agree with all of it.

That's a much better line that the original. I would buy that song. Seriously, that actually sounds like a good hook with the repetition of the "m" and "n" sounds. Matt should right the Gallagher's lyrics. If real, those would easily be up there with Oasis' finest lines

The production on 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' is shockingly bad comparing to all the songs on the rest of the album. It's just flat.
I got into Oasis in 1997/98 and I absolutely hated 'Slide Away' until sometime in 2007 when it hit me like a ton of bricks. It's probably my favourite Oasis song now apart from 'Listen Up'
The first verse and chorus of 'D'You Know What I Mean?' is good the second verse and onwards sounds like shit.
'The Girl In The Dirty Shirt' is my favourite song on 'BHN'
'Fade In-Out' live in 1997 does fuck all for me. I prefer the studio version.
Liam's vocals on 'Put Yer Money Where Yer mouth Is' are some of his most powerful and they save the song.
The guitar solo/riff in middle of '(As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell' is brilliant.
'Let's All Make Believe' is only okay, again only for Liam's vocals it would be shit.
'Little James' has a very good melody.
They should of kept the flutes from the demo version of 'Gas Panic!' in the album version.
The outro on 'Born On A Different Cloud' is the single best moment on 'Heathen Chemistry' but 'Songbird' is still Liam's best song.
I believe 'The Roller' should of been on 'Heathen Chemistry' but Gem new it was single material and so did Noel but Noel would never release a single for Oasis that was not written by a Gallagher.
I love 'Sitting Here In Silence (On My Own)'
The 2005 version of 'Cast No Shadow' pisses all over the 1995 version. But the live version from Maine Road in 1996 is probably my favourite live performance of any song from Oasis ever.
'Soldier On' is my favourite song on 'DOYS'

For me, a lot of what made Oasis great disappeared when Bonehead and Guigs left.

For me, a lot of what made Oasis great disappeared when Bonehead and Guigs left. It did for me, too. Nothing will touch the original band for me.

For me, a lot of what made Oasis great disappeared when Bonehead and Guigs left. My thoughts exactly. People say the band improved since Gem and Andy joined but I don't think so, they never had any influence in the band, never took it to another direction, played quite mechanically and you still can't hear the bass! In the early days they all were a bunch of friends and they seemed to enjoy each other whereas Andy and Gem seemed studio musicians. Having said that, they looked better on band photos than Bonehead and Guigs but that's not saying much.

Hey Now is a great number. Not because it's one of their best songs but it works perfectly on the album coming after Don't look back in anger. Always enjoy hearing those two in that order.

The whole premise that a band can, or could be, "the best band in the world" is total bullshit.
Yep, I said that.

Biggest you can be, but best is simply preference, or opinion.
