Liam's vocals now (when not pushed to the limit with numerous gigs in a row) are the best he has sounded since the Heathen Chemistry tour. 'since the heathen chemistry tour' is about right, I'll settle for that. Though, I do prefer the 2005 dbtt shows. He barely sounded human in parts of 2005

I never understood the hype behind DBTT. People claim it was their return to form, but for me it isn't any better from Heathen Chemistry. Suffers from the same problem. Not enough Liam sung, Noel written tunes.

A list of THERE I SAID IT/Confessions:
Columbia live is a blast but on the album it drags and doesn't deserve it's place on Definitely Maybe.
I absolutely HATE the ending of (It's Good) To Be Free to the point I can't listen to the track anymore.
No matter how many alternative playlist/tracklists I have made for Morning Glory, at least one of the Swamp Songs feature as I actualy enjoy the change of pace.
The Masterplan is a good song but nowhere near Noel's best sung song and I get irratated when people suggest it should be on Be Here Now as it would change the song completely.
Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is actually a damn good album as it is and Put Yer Money and I Can See A Liar are actually good tunes.
Heathen Chemistry is NOT that bad a produced album and it's heights and even lows are better than Dig Out Your Soul.
Don't Believe The Truth is a good flowing album that gets too much hate on here.
Dig Out Your Soul is easily the worst Oasis album and the whole album sounds like a band that want to be as far away from each other as possible

I always switch off once the accordion bit starts.

The Hindu Times is the worst lead single of Oasis ever. Even the title is dull. And song is not even top-3 of this album. Could be better only if Noel decided to release original demo which is one of the best Oasis demos I've ever listened to

Could be better only if Noel decided to release original demo which is one of the best Oasis demos I've ever listened to It's one of those songs where I read the title and thought Noel was going to give us a Beatles-in-India song with sitars and backwards guitars, going way out there. Instead it was a boring nothing. After decades of this you realize that he is great at hype and titles but the songs don't match the title at all. Same with Holy Mountain and WBTM.

Could be better only if Noel decided to release original demo which is one of the best Oasis demos I've ever listened to I like the heaviness of the demo but it's waaaay too slow and the lyrics are worse. I think the main issue with the album version is that Liam's vocals were just not very good. Had he sounded like he did on Hung in a Bad Place, it would've been a thousand times better.

so fucking lovely how the ending of It's Good To Be Free leads up to Half the World Away. the way I ALWAYS listened to those 2 songs back to back from '95 to the release of The Masterplan.

Not outright bad, but it does sound a bit lifeless at times.

It's close between it and Lyla. (The rest of the lead singles are far superior)
I'd say Lyla has aged worse probably.

Man, just imagine if Oasis had dropped Stop Crying Your Heart Out as the lead single for Heathen Chemistry after claims of irrelevance and being down in the dumps with SOTSOG (a good album though, don't get me wrong). That would've been HUGE for the band and would've given them an even bigger comeback than they did. Gimme something like this for the singles, Stop Crying Your Heart Out (lead), The Hindu Times (2nd), Songbird/Little by Little (3rd); and you have an even better album cycle.

And imagine if SCYHO being lead single would be released at the same time as it was in July just after England left World Cup, with the same use of song by BBC and so on. I think all Great Britain could praise Gallaghers as gods, waitin' new album at the same level as Be Here Now

I think one reason I listen to Oasis less these days is my headphones. They are not as great in the treble range so the electric guitars don't sound as good as they should. They're great for electronic music and hip hop tho.

That may have something to do with me preferring THT though GLIO does have a bit of a dated sound with the "Turn up the bass" and the way the drums kick after that point. It's very late-90s trip hop-like, but the rest of the song is very sharp and doesn't sound too far off of rock songs even today.

Yes some elements of GLIO certainly sound a little dated now, but I feel that the vocals & songwriting save it. I really like the lyrics, Liam sings it very well.

It's fun as hell to play acoustically, especially with that A7 droning acoustic guitar groove in the verses interplaying with the bass, and Liam sounds good. Plus the little guitar licks at the end and the little psychedelic touches (Beatlesque flute, whistles, etc.) make it complete. I groove with those tight guitar bits at the end too.

- Never to this day heard Dig out your soul outside I'm outta time and Shock of the lightning.. no desire too
- Noel's solo stuff is the most interesting stuff since the BHN days, dont care about Liam solo on bit (please dont start a fight)
- Noel putting the great B sides from 94-96 on the respective album would have killed the Oasis legacy in my opinion
- The Hindu Times got me into the band
