I think I genuinely like a bell will ring I liked it upon first listen way back in 2005, but I quickly learned to loathe it. It’s preachy as all fuck, the “entertain your goals” lyric is cringe as fuck, and the outro is boring. It’s probably my least favorite song on DBBT. Can’t stand it. I only liked it for the mildly amusing “andy bell will ring” aspect of it, but now it turns out I do like Liam’s voice on it and the tune as a whole. Didn’t see it coming

I really like I can see it now for some reason.
Probably nostalgia reasons. Should have been the last track on DBTT.

I really like I can see it now for some reason. Probably nostalgia reasons. I’ve always loved this! It’s like two tracks that emerge and blossom into one. It’s fantastic. I don’t think this warrants a confession as I believe most on here moves this track!!

The let down was that Noel intentionally kept LTBL stripped down when he should have gone with a full blown production (and a second verse sung by him). LTBL has so much potential and could have been massive but instead it’s rather ‘meh’ and is right up there with the biggest Oasis let downs.

They’d be in the mix for that lucrative 5th position as well

My confession: It really fucking pisses me of when people do the antonyms for all the songs. Lengthy songs I get, but sometimes it feels like you're reading code when you come on here, they've got 7 albums and over 100 songs, I can't remember the antonym for every one.

I hated Oasis growing up, I tried to get into them a few times. I was recommended Beady Eye and then NGHFB and liked a few of their songs. It was only until 2015/16 I just put their whole discography on shuffle that I actually appreciated them other than Wonderall and Champagne Supernova.

The word is acronym but I agree nonetheless. I agree too! Is ok for the most recent album or really long titles etc

Neat thread, Beady’s Here Now ! Thanks for bumping. Here's some of mine: Aside from Champagne Supernova, Morning Glory and Hello are my favorite songs on WTSMG. I don't like DLBIA much at all; Noel sounds like he's trying way too hard. Some Might Say and Stand By Me feel like the same song to me: big, cheerful, without any substance or anything of musical interest. Also every time I hear the opening of Stand By Me I think about food poisoning - not an appealing association! Probably fun live, but not tunes I'd listen to on their own. I much prefer Noel's 2016 remix of DYKWIM to the original and am gutted that he's never going to give the rest of the album the treatment he gave that song. The only single from WM?WN that I really like is One of Us. I'd take Halo, Gone, Be Still, and WM?WN over all the other singles any day of the week.

- Too many Oasis songs (particularly during their heyday) use repeated refrain outros. It gets a little tiring and predictable.
- Noel is seemingly incapable of writing short and concise songs. In 29 years (1991-2020) he's written just 5 non instrumental songs under 3 minutes in length. That's really quite the feat! For me the shorter the better. There's often very little need to repeat certain ideas again and again and again. It probably doesn't help that so many are mid-paced.
- Noel is and always has been a subpar lyricist. He's not incapable of pulling out good line or an alright verse every so often but he's never written a song and knocked it out the park in the lyrics department once.
- The album cover to SOTSOG makes my brain hurt. It looks like a postcard you'd pick up on the cheap at one of those naff tourist outlets. Why's the Empire State Building slightly off centre and awkwardly jutting into the 'a' of the shit new Oasis logo? Why's the title of the album located on the right side of the cover yet aligned to the left? It's a poor idea done badly.
- Alan White is overrated as a drummer. Zak's drumming on DOYS doesn't get praised enough. Tony, easily the most limited drummer Oasis has ever had, is arguably the band's most missed. He's not my favourite but his limitations brought character.
- As much as I like some of them no member of the band (apart from Liam and Noel obviously) even comes close to being essential.

- Oasis were nothing special as a live band.
- I'm generally uninterested in bands who are obviously influenced by Oasis.
- I'm not at all convinced that brickwalling benefitted Oasis artistically.
- Oasis were never any good at covering other people's songs. They stripped them of their character and played them straight as hell. No imagination whatsoever. If anyone else played 'I am the Walrus' like they did, when they did, no one would give a shit. This to me just goes to highlight Noel's limitations instrumentally and as a songwriter.
- Noel and Liam (the former less so now) are both afraid of taking risks and doing anything considered weird with their music. Everything feels frustratingly safe. There's next to no sense of performance in their vocal takes - You're getting it straight and that's it. The only time I can think of Liam doing anything remotely different vocally was when he started speak-singing during 'Gone' which really surprised me to hear (in a positive way of course).
- I think it says something that so few bands have covered Oasis in a recording studio. A shame really.
- Kurt Cobain was a better songwriter than Noel Gallagher. Nirvana and Kurt's songwriting abilities didn't suffer from any of the said points I've listed in this post or the one above.
