That's pretty good for an 18 year old.

Yeah, pretty good everything I've heard from him. Let's see how his debut album shapes up.

I'm not keen on him... I think people like him for 2 reasons: 1- Noel likes him 2- He's just not shit like most other music.

I didn't even know Noel liked him although that would have made zero difference to me anyway. He has some promise, no doubt about that. Not thunderstruck by it but will definitely listen to more of his stuff in the future.

He's unique cos there's nobody out there like him at the moment. Can't wait for the album.

I downloaded and watched the iTunes Festival of Jake Bugg at the weekend, really liked what I saw. Also saw him at the Leeds Festival, and seeing him at the Cockpit in Leeds later this year. He must have listened to the La's a lot

not bad for an 18 year old but its not really "unique". Nice to see some guitar action in there. Could develop into something decent but to be honest just sounds like every other average british rocker. This is why guitar music is lacking in the charts (along with trends of the industry) cause its just a rehash with no distinct attitude or twist to it and the songwriting is bland. Not horrible by any means but I'd rather listen some bands that are simply just better in my opinion. But the guy is still a kid and he has talent.

Anyone got the audio from the iTunes performance and would they be kind enough to share it?

Well, I really like the kid. And hate him 'cause he makes me jealouse. I think he's extremely talented and has great style. Love the 60s country-folk vibe. I thought Two Fingers was specially good.

There are signs that there could be something great there. He's 18 years old and is far from what his peak should be. He has the talent and if he can take the strides that one should expect and finds more of his voice/style, then he could really be something.

For me, what Noel likes I don't care - this is a guy who hates The Beach Boys yet loves The Enemy for example. Not saying that his taste is shit but there are some poor bands he likes. Your second point is spot on. I don't think Jake Bugg is original but compared to a lot of major acts out there, he is good compared to the amount of drivel in the charts. And for once, he is actually a good 'NME Act' - will most likely be overhyped by that magazine though. He's an 18 year old, so it's impressive what he's done so far, but lets hope he can progress further rather than being stuck in a rut of mediocrity like most of these NME hypes.

Really, what new music that's guitar driven is original? Not a lot.
The NME may like it because...you know the reviewer likes the record. I don't even know what an 'NME Act' is tbh.

An 'NME Act' is a band which the NME creams themselves over and who they think are hip, cool and the next big thing, when in reality, they're just dull and stodgy regressive pub bands. Best examples would be The Vaccinnes and The Enemy. I don't know, but the only band that were heavily endorsed by the NME that are any good is the Arctic Monkeys.

Pretty sure they championed Oasis, Blur and Radiohead too. Of course NME are going to push bands to the front its the kind of music there readership is into.

I haven't listened to him yet, but I read a review which described as being 'Recommended by Noel Gallagher and The Stone Roses' and as a 'council estate Bob Dylan'. I await the biggest disappointment of my life.
