Jake Bugg is great. He is pretty succesful over here too. Saw him at Pinkpop. He didn't interact with the crowd at all but that's alright. He's only 20 and he was very good.
Hate his Slide Away cover though.

An 'NME Act' is a band which the NME creams themselves over and who they think are hip, cool and the next big thing, when in reality, they're just dull and stodgy regressive pub bands. Best examples would be The Vaccinnes and The Enemy. I don't know, but the only band that were heavily endorsed by the NME that are any good is the Arctic Monkeys. Ze Strokes? They only got it right sometimes with The Smiths, Oasis, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys. They got a lot wrong over the years, Razorlight, The Enemy, The View, Gay Dad, Black Kids , The Vines (loved that debu album but the new Nirvana, don't be silly NME), Klaxons (rode on the hype wave for me) and The Thrills. You could go with naming bands NME hyped up from 2001 onwards that didn't make it.

Jake Bugg is a total fake to me. The whole idea seems to be perfect , a bit post Gallagherish, british kid playin' folky catchy tunes about being a young lad and all. Sounds great, sounds like i should have a drink with him. But there's this unknown part of it that i can't stand. Don't know really what it is. It's just fake. I like the Two Fingers tune though i have to say. But this kid irritates me.
And why don't he even has a proper band, he ? He's 19 and he can't afford to find three mates of his school to put a proper band together and have fun playing gigs? Who do he think he is ? Bob Dylan ? Guess i'm not the only one who can't stand him. He said that he don't like playing festivals. Yes of course you don't you little prick because that's where you need to face the god damn crowd who didn't noticed you won Brits Awards only for the case of nobody else out there who they can give it to apart from Alex Turner.
I'm sorry, i just really don't like Jake Bugg.
I'm waiting for some real band to arrive and let this kid be gone soon.

He's overrated for sure especially around these parts (and in the NME). I don't really find he's music all that captivating. The Milkman & The Riverman kind of puts it perfectly. He's music should be something I like but its kinda bland. With that said when I saw him open up for Noel, he commanded the stage very well. There's hope that he'll eventually be decent but I'm honestly never really expecting him to be all that good.

To me he is overrated, kinda like that other cat Miles Kane. both of these were supporting the Arctic Monkeys a few months back, god Bugg was one of the most boring live acts I've seen, the lad needs to speak and look bloody interested in been in front of the crowd. Bugg is alright his first album was fine enough not a big fan of the second but their are far worst out there for me. Kane's greatest moment is still the Last Shadow Puppet's and his first solo album, that's cause he's got one of the best British Songwriters carrying his ass to greatness with some of the co-writes. But I take Kane over Bugg anyday of the week.

The Fact he's just like the X factors and pop star wannabe's he's also taking swings at, he has professional co writers writing his tunes. Come on kid, Noel Gallagher,Paul Weller, Damon Albarn and Alex Turner didn't call in the professionals when they were writing classic tunes. The Whole wanna be Gallagher-ish lad stick is becoming tiring, it just looks fake and has become a thing in British music I find really sicken right now. Especially when Posh or middle class are trying to pull it off. What do you mean Real Band? come on the last band that carried any sway for me were Arctic Monkeys, who else has come close since. You won't get another Oasis or Stone Roses that time is long gone sadly. Far too many spoiled teens out there with nothing good to say.

I love both Jake Bugg and Miles Kane tbh Yeah Jake's got co-writers (not for all of his tunes tho),but it's mostly him writing the songs,I understand people finding his "attitude" a bit annoying, but to me he comes across as a "real" guy, just a bit shy and introverted (if that's how you say it),but at the same time not scared about expressing his opinions Talking about Miles,I think his finest moment was with The Last Shadow Puppets too (The Rascals were an underrated band, their album Rascalize is pretty good though),but I love his solo records as well, especially the second one, which doesn't seem to get a lot of love on here,he's definitely not the best lyricist, but that album is pretty enjoyable and full of catchy tunes, and then he seems to be great live Oh,I don't give a fuck about NME

I hate this kid and everything he stands for. The smoking cigarettes in publicity photos, the fake attitude, the way he acts high in interviews like Oasis used to be. Its all part of the image that his record company made for his act. His songs are bland and average at best, and the fact that he doesn't even fuckin' write them all pisses me off.
Its all part of the plastic image that so many young people are thinking they are a part of, calling themselves Oasis fans when they know 3 fuckin' songs, wearing Stone Roses shirts and going to see shit bands like the Courteeners and a certain Beady Eye!

To me he is overrated, kinda like that other cat Miles Kane. The Last Shadow Puppets was great and that song he did that was on FIFA are the only things Miles Kane has done that I actually like. Oh and his cover of Hey Bulldog was decent. Not too say that I actively dislike Kane though, seems like a decent musician and a top bloke.

Miles Kane is kind of a lucky guy in this whole situation. He is not that good, he is no great songwriter or singer or anything. He's probably overrated, but let him be for a moment. He looks alright.

Yeah whereas Bugg is a try hard, Kane is just bland. Kane's first album has a couple nice moments on it, but in general it just doesn't have any real character to it. Kinda sounds like he made an album of the throw tracks from that Last Shadow Puppets album or something.

However, I was let down with the follow up. Very boring and ordinary outside the lead single. After two solo albums, Miles had to lean on Alex Turner to co-write his debut and Paul Weller to flesh out his sophomore effort. I'd expect more from a guy who is almost 30.

I just don't like that many have him as this working class lad who writes classic tunes in his bedroom when he's just as manufactured as the X-Factor knobs.

That Last Shadow Puppet is a underrated masterpiece, really deserves more love ( although it did get to number 1 in the album charts). Even his first solo album are mostly co-writes with Turner. He's just one of those guys that you feel should be better then he is.

When I hear all this talk when he came out as the new Gallagher, Weller and Turner. I thought this will be great, but then you read at the back of his albums all the co-writes and him taking pops at these X Factor winners, he's every bit like them just his music is more bearable. Plus one of the worst live acts I ever seen. Although that tune Broken is top notch. By far his greatest moment is that last shadow puppet album, nothing he's done since has come close. I got to go for the first solo album cause those Turner co-writes are his best songs but his second isn't bad either. Just he lacks his mate Turner way with a tune and a lyric. But I give him props for working a crowd and he's knows to put on the show hopefully he can step out and write a classic album one day.
