First 4 are all bouncey and quick paced, rest are all the same pace. Should've mixed them up a bit. Not 9/10 in any way. First 4 are banging though.

It's on Spotify now. On first impression I'd say that this is the best debut album I've heard for a long time.

Thought I'd give him a chance, listening to the album online at the minute, but I'm still struggling to enjoy it.
EDIT: Got halfway through. I was proper bored after Country Song.

I like "two fingers" and "seen it all", the first half of the album is great, the second half is boring.

Really, what new music that's guitar driven is original? Not a lot. The NME may like it because...you know the reviewer likes the record. I don't even know what an 'NME Act' is tbh. An 'NME Act' is a band which the NME creams themselves over and who they think are hip, cool and the next big thing, when in reality, they're just dull and stodgy regressive pub bands. Best examples would be The Vaccinnes and The Enemy. I don't know, but the only band that were heavily endorsed by the NME that are any good is the Arctic Monkeys. I'm getting a bit sick of your constant snobby jibes on here when it comes to music, particularly balls out rock n roll. The amount of times you have described something as 'regressive' or 'pub rock' is laughable considering that you're posting on an Oasis forum of all places. And for the record, Jake Bugg is not 'pub rock' or 'regressive' and has not been hyped by the NME much at all prior to a decently positive review last week.

Got mine from Play.com on Saturday, really like it, the first 5 songs are great. Seeing him in Manchester in February, can't wait.
Totally agree with the La's references by the way.

Perhaps not as "genuine" as people think, had a read through his Twitter last night (was bored and wondering if it would throw up anything interesting) and he's co-written songs with Iain Archer (who I think was in Snow Patrol) and a guy called Matt Prime. Had no idea who he was but found this www.allmusic.com/artist/matt-prime-mn0001575764 . Wonder what y'all think?

Just listened to the whole album two times, and their are some really great songs. I think Taste It, Seen It All, Simple As This, Broken and Slide are the best ones at the moment. I think I have to buy this album. This and Tame Impala's new album.

If he's into that kind of music then I don't see what's wrong with him writing songs with those people.

Hmm I guess, pointed this out mostly cause the NME's review put quite heavy emphasis on his "genuine-ness". But yeah that Matt Prime guy has written songs for Will Young, Kylie etc so bit of an odd choice I thought. Still, enjoying the album. Two Fingers, Seen It All, Slide and in particular Ballad Of Mr Jones are absolutely quality

Still, whatever else he's doing, massive respect for him for releasing a country album as his debut. Would have been a lot easier to put out an indie album like every other new band in the country.

Just noticed his album on iTunes for $7.99 last night. Listened to a few track clips, liked it for sure. Reminded me of the Las and early BeeGees a bit too, especially on one song(I think it was "Simple as This").

Simple As This is definitely early Bee Gees, great comparison actually.

Has put a bit of a dampner on the whole Jake Bugg thing for me. Most if not all the songs he's written since he's been signed have been written with hired co-writers. He's a solo artist, who's puttin' out his first album, surely he shouldn't be needin' help to write songs. Seems his record company have brought this on him which is a bit shit to be honest. All seems pretty manufactured to be honest.

The songs on the 2nd side are good but all very similar in tempo. Needed a shock of (the) lightning.
Slide is my favourite on the 2nd side, reminds me so much of the Verve and their amazing bsides.

Had no idea he was that involved with the album. Bugg is only given sole credit for 4 of the tracks on the album, and two of those are less than 2 minutes long. Bit surprised by that to be honest.
