9 out of 10 for Live Forever? it's a 10 all day long I love it, its probably my second favourite Oasis song after Slide Away. But Slide Away is my undisputed number one, then theres a gap and a couple of others roughly on par with each other (Supersonic is another). Hence how Slide Away gets 10 and its marked below that. I don't like giving out 10's here and there, it makes me laugh seeing 10/10 for The Beat Goes on and The Roller. Are they seriously saying they're level with the very best?

The Beat Goes On is comparable to BTL? That's insane. Maybe it just didn't meet your way-too-high expectations. In fact I think I'm seeing many ratings that are affected too much by high expectations. I don't think I had high expectations. In fact, I had pretty low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised all over the album. The Beat Goes On was just not a track that impressed me. I know a lot of people think it's great, but I prefer most of the other songs to it, that's all. Not saying anyone's stupid for liking it or anything. I recognize why people like it, but it's not for me. TBGO is really good, but not the best tune in there for me. Nor am I trying to convince you that TBGO is the best thing that's ever created. I just found it a bit odd to see somebody comparing TBGO to BTL which imo are two tunes with completely different class. Don't get me wrong, I do respect other people's opinions; though I can't understand it, I will try to accept it.

1. Four Letter Word 9/10 - My favorite song on the album, great rocker! 2. Millionaire 5/10 - Don't get the popularity, slightly boring to me 3. The Roller 7/10 - Solid tune bad choice for first single though, theres some much better songs! 4. Beatles and Stones 8/10- Fantastic rock n roll 5. Wind Up Dream 6/10 - Starts off great but goes nowhere 6. Bring the Light 8/10 - After re-listening to it i think its fits nicely on the album, gives it an extra kick when it gets a bit slow 7. For Anyone 7/10 - Pleasant enough 8. Kill For a Dream 8/10 - Another great song, Andy's really turned a corner 9. SOTEOTN 8/10 - Love it, sounds like a lam rock jam 10. Wigwam 9/10 - Didn't see the end coming fantastic 11. Three Ring Circus 8/10 - Probably the most surprising can listen to this again and again 12. The Beat goes on 9/10 - Best song i've ever heard Andy do 13. The Morning Son 9/10 - If only Liam could write stronger lyrics this could rival champagne supernova as an album closer

Alot of this seems to be very early hype ratings - like when you see a big spectale film for the first time and ignore all the inconsistencies and issues. I remember that The Beat Goes On thread where people were saying it was the new Don't Look Back In Anger of the generation and being a masterpiece. Hype can affect alot.

Not only that, but with the very lackluster underwhelming way Oasis ended ... Mediocre album, Liam sounding shockingly bad on that tour... People were clamoring for new material... Literally starving for it. Needless to say the fan goggles got very fogged up.
Goodness gracious great balls of fire, Liam you are a GENIUS !!! 😁😎👌👍

Luckily I somehow managed to NOT post in this thread previously. I'm sure I said some daft things in other DGSS threads though...
At this moment in time: 1.Four Letter Word - 8/10 2.Millionaire - 5/10 3.The Roller - 5/10 4.Beatles and Stones - 4/10 5.Wind Up Dream - 5/10 6.Bring the Light - 6/10 7.For Anyone - 7/10 8.Kill for a Dream - 5/10 9.Standing on the Edge of the Noise - 4/10 10.Wigwam - 7/10 11.Three Ring Circus - 7/10 12.The Beat Goes On 7/10 13.The Morning Son - 7/10
Overall - 5.9/10
-----
I got bored just doing the ratings. Why is this album so long? 13 tracks feels excessively long.

Not gave this album a listen for some years – four or five, in fact. I recall not enjoying it, but don’t really remember enough to rate each song individually. In fact, I reckon I’ll listen to it now for the first time in ages, and give the scores live as I go through it:
Four Letter Word - 7/10: Nice bombastic start. Love the slight echo on Liam's vocals (vocals which he absolutely nails) and the bursting riff, although the guitar solo is a bit forced. Good pacy start. Millionaire - 5.5/10: A pleasant, forgettable bit of guitar-pop. More Beatles-y than The Rutles, but there's nothing I can really have a go at about it. Nothing I can really praise either. It does its job. The Roller - 7.5/10: The verses of this are the catchiest thing Beady Eye ever did. Of course, it's a John Lennon pastiche with an unneeded solo, but it has enough swagger and melody to get away with it, and it's concise too. Good tune. Beatles and Stones – 3.5/10: A bad rocker, with a cringe-worthy chorus and no good melody, but I do give it credit for having a discernable bassline. Wind Up Dream - 2/10: Jesus, what even is this? It's a piece of nothing, from the melody to the instrumental, aiming nowhere and still falling short. A complete waste of time. Bring the Light – 3.5/10: Another nothing song, really, although some points are given for the energetic piano riff which I do like, the whole thing just feels un-written. Liam's voice is the saving grace of the album at the minute, he gives the endless "baby, come on, light a fire, open your mind!" cliche rock 'n' roll lyrics a bit of flair. For Anyone - 5/10: A nice enough little ballad, nothing memorable but with an actual melody to it and concise enough to pass by pleasantly. Kill for a Dream – 2/10: “A poverty-stricken man’s Keep the Dream Alive” is not a sentence anyone wants to hear, but it’s really the only way to describe this dreck.
Standing on the Edge of the Noise – 3/10: The distortion on Liam’s voice is cool, and I do like the rock ‘n’ roll sound, but there’s just absolutely no song here whatsoever, it’s just nothing-verses and a nothing-chorus put on another unimaginative instrumental.
Wigwam – 5.5/10: There’s a properly good song in here, there really is. The melody is lazy and pretty, and I like the drum fill jam, and the extended chanted outro. The stuffy production drags it down, but it’s still a good listen while it’s on, and the only song so far that shows any creative ambition whatsoever.
Three Ring Circus – 2.5/10: More shite. Just like the other shite.
The Beat Goes On – 6.5/10: Similar to Wigwam, really; this is another melodic track that manages to be pleasant but which is stopped from being properly good from its relentlessly mushy sound. The retro production is okay on retro rockers, but there’s no reason why this shouldn’t have been given space to breathe and real dynamics. Still, it has an honest-to-God melody, and nobody can take that away!
The Morning Son - 6/10: A nice melodic closer, even if the melody is repeated ad-nauseum and the production is once again horrible. I like the increasing-tempo ending, and the sentiment of the track, but it’s nothing I would ever go back to outside of the context of the album. In context, though, it’s as good a finale as you could expect.
Okay, this album is pretty dreadful. There’s a smattering of decent tracks, but in between them are piles of shit The retro sound is mushy and bland, and the ballads suffer for it. Liam’s voice sounds great, but that can only do so much. 3/10.

DGSS may not have the lows of HC, but it also certainly does not have the highs, either - on balance, it’s probably on par innit.

I think DGSS had some really, really strong songs. The problem is it had just as many weak ones.
The good ones I feel were: Four Letter Work The Roller Wigwam The Beat Goes On The Morning Son
I think the Beat Goes On lacks something, but could have been great. I also think The Morning Son is Soldier On's better brother. I'm surprised it doesn't rate higher around here.
I think Millionaire is a fun little tune and I grew to appreciate it more after hearing the heavier live version. For Anyone is good, it just doesn't go anywhere. I also enjoy the Bridge in Three Ring Circus, enough to not call it a clunker, but obviously as a whole it isn't great.
The problem is, the other 5 I didn't mention are quite bad.

1.Four Letter Word - 8 2.Millionaire - 5 3.The Roller - 7 4.Beatles and Stones - 6 5.Wind Up Dream - 4 6.Bring the Light - 6 7.For Anyone - 4 8.Kill for a Dream - 7 9.Standing on the Edge of the Noise - 4 10.Wigwam - 8 11.Three Ring Circus - 6 12.The Beat Goes On - 7 13.The Morning Son - 8
So a 6/10 based on song scores, but the lighthearted, joyful vibe and Liam’s “thing” bump it up to a 7 for me. I still put the album on about once a year (usually in the spring) and always enjoy it. Even at 13 tracks, it flies by. Pity that The World Outside My Room and In the Bubble didn’t replace a couple of the weaker tracks.

1.Four Letter Word - 9 2.Millionaire - 6.5 3.The Roller - 6.5 4.Beatles and Stones - 6 5.Wind Up Dream - 5 6.Bring the Light - 6.5 (Live version they did on BE tour is fantastic) 7.For Anyone - 4.5 8.Kill for a Dream - 7 9.Standing on the Edge of the Noise - 4 10.Wigwam - 7 (Production hurts this one big time, the live version would get a much higher mark) 11.Three Ring Circus - 6 12.The Beat Goes On - 7.5 13.The Morning Son - 7
Overall a decent album in my opinion. The production is pretty dreadful in parts, makes it sound dated, songs like Wigwam and The Morning Son really could of gone up a level with some fresh production.
As said above, World Outside My Room and In The Bubble should of been on there instead of a couple of the other songs and maybe make it a 10 track album instead to get rid of some of the filler.

Four Letter Word - 8 Millionaire - 6 The Roller - 6 Beatles and Stones - 2 Wind Up Dream - 1 Bring the Light - 6 For Anyone - 5 Kill for a Dream - 5 Standing on the Edge of the Noise - 2 Wigwam - 9 Three Ring Circus - 6 The Beat Goes On - 6 The Morning Son - 7
It should've been a shorter album that featured In the Bubble... but I think they worried about having too many slower songs and threw every dreadful banger they had at it.

1. Four Letter Word 2. Millionaire 3. The Roller 4. World Outside My Room 5. Bring the Light 6. Kill for a Dream 7. Wigwam 8. In The Bubble 9. Evil Eye 10.The Beat Goes On 11.The Morning Son
Evil Eye was written in 2007 I believe so would of been around for DGSS. Think that makes a much better album.
You then could of had Three Ring Circus, For Anyone and Beatles and Stones as the b-sides which would of been fine.

That initial 20 second tease for Beady Eye was awesome. I thought it was a new song. Wasn’t familiar with the World of Twist. Killer riff. Shame their best song was a cover but Fucking hell what a cover!

DGSS 1) Four Letter Word - 7/10 2) Millionaire - 5.5/10 3) The Roller - 8/10 4) Beatles and Stones - 5.5/10 5) Wind Up Dream - 4.5/10 6) Bring the Light - 7.5/10 7) For Anyone - 6/10 8) Kill for a Dream - 4.5/10 9) Standing on the Edge of the Noise - 6/10 10) Wigwam - 6/10 11) Three Ring Circus - 5.5/10 12) The Beat Goes On - 4.5/10 13) The Morning Son - 6/10
Average: 5.88/10
It's lucky to average that to be honest. Taking into account production and other considerations I'd give it 5/10 max. I'd have included 'Sons of Stage' (World of Twist cover), 'In the Bubble With a Bullet', 'Evil Eye' and dropped 4 or 5 other tracks.
