I do love Wigwam but the final part of it reminds me of the Killers 'i've got soul, but i'm not a soldier....'. Still love it though

Shit is crazy, huh? I just don't hear anything great about it. There are no dynamics. The song is the same the whole way through. Yeah, there's some nice melodies in there, but it just sounds like a generic ballad i've heard a million other times. Just doesn't appeal to me like the others. Maybe I'm heartless? It's a tad sappy and it doesn't do enough other things to keep me interested. The Beat Goes On is comparable to BTL? That's insane. Maybe it just didn't meet your way-too-high expectations. In fact I think I'm seeing many ratings that are affected too much by high expectations. I don't think I had high expectations. In fact, I had pretty low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised all over the album. The Beat Goes On was just not a track that impressed me. I know a lot of people think it's great, but I prefer most of the other songs to it, that's all. Not saying anyone's stupid for liking it or anything. I recognize why people like it, but it's not for me.

i'll add that i love the double takes of liam's voice on "for anyone". They never really did that before, and i've always loved the sound it makes.

On first listen, which often is not a wise thing but..
Four Letter Word 8/10 Millionaire 7/10 The Roller 9/10 Beatles and Stones 7/10 Wind Up Dream 7/10 Bring The Light 7/10 Now in first listen 6/10 For Anyone 9/10 Kill For A Dream 9/10 Standing On the Edge of the Noise 6/10 Wigwam 9/10 Three Ring Circus 8/10 The Beat Goes On 8/10 The Morning Sun 10/10
The last one its the best one cause is the one that has it all, has a great melody and comes from the heart and soul.
I think Liam wrote the best songs in the album while Andy is the most consistant. Gem wrote two good ones in the Roller and TRC

OK, for the album as a whole I'm pleasantly surprised. I like it more than I thought, the production is really good. Kudos to Sharrock, the drumming is class. Few listens, may change.
1.Four Letter Word. 7,5/10: Always liked this one, a proper rocker. 2.Millionaire 6,5/10: it's a cool little tune, but I've the feeling this one will annoy me soon. 3.The Roller 7/10: good but I've never loved it too much 4.Beatles and Stones 6+/10: decent tune, but it sound "too vintage" to me. The + is for some idea in the drumming and the piano solo 5.Wind Up Dream 6/10: I expected more, it's a bit repetitive 6.Bring the Light 5,5/10: never liked it (too vintage), but it gets better with the listening 7.For Anyone 7/10: nice little tune, very sweet. 8.Kill for a Dream 7,5/10: I expected more from this one, remembered me a bit of "Keep the dream alive", but it lacks something 9.Standing on the Edge of the Noise 7/10: everyone seems to hate this one, and I thought I would've too from the preview, but I have to admit it works for me 10.Wigwam 8,5/10: great song, everything is ok. Proper tune. Love the shalalala! 11.Three Ring Circus 7,5/10: hate the first part of the song, but the chorus is catchy and the song flows well 12.The Beat Goes On 9/10: a well built ballad, I like that it keeps it simple. 13.The Morning Son 9,5/10: Love it, my favourite.

1. FOUR LETTER WORD 7/10: A good, safe way to start the album. Nothing terrific, but solid for an opener.
2. MILLIONAIRE 7.5/10: Keeps the flow going and lets the listener know that the entire album will be a mixture of rock'n'roll and good pop melodies.
3. THE ROLLER 8/10: Liked it as a single from Day #1.
4. BEATLES AND STONES 7.5/10: The drumming caught me off guard and saved this from being just an average song. Plus, anything that sounds a bit frantic like early Who is alright by me.
5. WIND UP DREAM 7/10: I know this is the one that most people thought was gonna be a weak link but it surprised me as well and stepped up to the plate as a good middle album track.
6. BRING THE LIGHT 6/10: The low point for me on the album. Good 50s rockabilly piano riffing only to be spoiled by an ending of "baby c'mon"s that seem to drag on like a William Shatner death scene.
7. FOR ANYONE 7.5/10: Nice Songbirdesque tune to end off the first half of the album. I like the barely over two-minute length, as well. It makes you want a little more which plays its hand correctly by allowing the listener to get engulfed in the album's second half and not stealing its thunder.
8. KILL FOR A DREAM 9.5/10: This is the song that got me upon first listen...hook, line, and sinker. The melancholy mood of its opening verse and its gorgeous melody are somewhat breathtaking.
9. STANDING ON THE EDGE OF THE NOISE 7.5/10: OK so it's noisy and purposely produced with a garage vibe. So what? I think that it has that potential to be a grower based upon the fact that you want to like it more so you find yourself repeatingly clicking the "play" button until you conform to its wall of sound.
10. WIGWAM 8.5/10: It took three listens to get used to the ongoing "I'm coming up" lyrics but I did get used to the slight changes thrown in there. And besides, Liam...singing in kind of a pseudo-falsetto??? That alone is worth an extra minute!
11. THREE RING CIRCUS 7/10: When I saw that Gem had written both WUD and this one, I thought for sure that I'd like this better, but I find them both pretty equal. It's a well-needed rock track toward the album's end and does a good job of setting up the final two songs.
12. THE BEAT GOES ON 8/10: "Keep The Dream Alive" meets The Rolling Stones' "Child Of The Moon." Pretty strong comparisons if you ask me. I may learn to like this one even more upon repeated listens.
13. THE MORNING SON 9.5/10: Did anyone else find themselves fighting back that tear while listening to the first two minutes of this song, only to be swept off your feet when the song ultimately crashes before finally snare-drumming its way out to sea?
Like all albums, you can never really determine how much you like/dislike it after just one day, but these are my rankings right now. Songwise, I give it an 8/10. The flow of the album is ace and the fact that I can play it from beginning to end without skipping a track (yes, even BTL) makes it earn a bonus half point.
DGSS = *8.5*

I'd probably change some ratings up or down a point, but yours is pretty similar to what I'd say, it just seems you rate The Roller a lot higher than me. I'm still not giving grades, but this is my current ranking: The Morning Son Wigwam For Anyone Four Letter Word Kill For a Dream Three Ring Circus The Beat Goes On The Roller Millionaire Bring The Light Beatles and Stones Wind Up Dream Standing on the Edge of the Noise For the record, I like all of them down until Beatles And Stones. WUD and SOTEOTN would be the only two I don't quite like, and still haven't skipped. We'll see how this changes with time.

1.Four Letter Word. 8/10 2.Millionaire 4.5/10 3.The Roller 7.5/10 4.Beatles and Stones 5.5/10 5.Wind Up Dream 5/10 6.Bring the Light 6/10 7.For Anyone 7/10 8.Kill for a Dream 8.5/10 9.Standing on the Edge of the Noise 5.5/10 10.Wigwam 7.5/10 11.Three Ring Circus 7/10 12.The Beat Goes On 9/10 13.The Morning Son 8/10
Average: 7/10
I only put 6/10 for BTL, but I can assure you that if they play it live with an electric guitar it's going to be a fucking great tune for the gigs. The album version with the piano is not that good though.
For me the album lacks of a rock song which makes you wanna move. The only one is FLW & probably BTL live.
TBGO: the first time i listened to it, I was like, wtf is this song ... ? it's like my little pony for a sweet little girl... quite surprised Liam Gallagher a fucking rock star sings this tune. 2nd listen, wow this tune is mega!! Man i think I've lost my balls with this one!
Kill for a dream: the beginning is amazing, the chorus is good even though it's not as mega as i thought it would be.
Morning son: good but too repetitive. Love the part at 2:35
Wigwam: very weird song, but nice. Not too sure how this one will be live.

My first post regarding the album. I wanted it to sink in at least a little bit before I jumped the gun. Here goes.......
Four Letter Word 8/10 Great way to open the album, rockin' tune. I liked it since the start. For me it's the real first single. Millionaire 7.5/10 It shouldn't of followed FLW because it's too soft and light. But I like it nonetheless. Nice vocals. The Roller 8.5/10 Without doubt Gems best song since joining Oasis. Beatles and Stones 8/10 Love the piano on this and Liam's vocals are ace. Wind Up Dream 7/10 Glass Onion springs to mind. Different but in a good way. Bring The Light 7/10 By God I hated this when I first heard it, but it really grew on me. I even like the manic end. For Anyone 8/10 Not as good as Songbird IMO as some people have suggested but what a great vocal once again from r'kid. Kill For A Dream 9/10 Beautiful melody, love the na,na,na,na,na's at the end. Well done Andy. Great song. Standing On the Edge of the Noise 6/10 Production and the verses let this down. I like the chorus but I feel the only reason this is on the album is because it lacked rockers. Wigwam 9/10 Love this and I don't even know why. It's just awesome. Three Ring Circus 9/10 Guitar on this just blows the f*ckin' head off me every time. Best rocker on the record The Beat Goes On 9/10 I hated the previews of this but when I heard that chorus, well, that was it. The Morning Son 10/10 Liam's best ever. The words, melody, Chris' drumming at the end, everything about it. It's just stunning.
At this moment in time it's 8.5/9 outta 10 for me.

1. "Four Letter Word" 9.5 - Awesome tune 2. "Millionaire" 8 - Nice song. Never really settles into a melody. Could be great, not quite there. 3. "The Roller" 9 - Rips off Lennon, still very good. 4. "Beatles and Stones" 9 - Rips off the Who, but still very good. 5. "Wind Up Dream" 8.5 - Unexpected groovy tune! Sounds like an updated version of some early Lennon Beatles stuff. 6. "Bring the Light" 8 - Another groovy one. Solid tune. 7. "For Anyone" 9 - Another surprise. Charming, pretty 60s-ish tune. 8. "Kill for a Dream" 6 - Lame. Sounds like a Taylor Swift cover or something. 9. "Standing on the Edge of the Noise" 7 - Not having that vocal effect. Okay tune. 10. "Wigwam" 8 - Long, kinda cool if you're in the mood for it 11. "Three Ring Circus" 8 - Sounds like Gem's old band Heavy Stereo. Good song. 12. "The Beat Goes On" 8 - Nice song. Nothing great, but it's a good listen. 13. "The Morning Son" 9 - Beautiful closer
