After yet another disappointing performance, I'm really starting to question whether United's players understand the significance of the Liverpool games. We've limped to three straight defeats against that lot now, and the standard of our play in those games has been nothing short of embarrassing.
And Ferdinand and Vidic want their fucking heads examining. Torres is class, no question, but that doesn't excuse how those two seem to turn to fucking jelly when they have to play against him.

Was Marriner fit enough for Fergie?

Was Marriner fit enough for Fergie? The whole Wiley debacle was merely a smokescreen to distract from United's poor performance. He's done it so often that I'm amazed people still fall for it. Still, while we're on the subject of Marriner, I'd say a couple of his decisions can most certainly be called into question, most notably allowing Jamie Carragher to remain on the pitch.

Not looking forward to today's game at all, particularly with Berbatov missing. If Fergie resorts to playing 451 in his absence, Rooney's going to be left completely isolated against two of the best centre-halves in the country, and Chelsea's full-backs will be given licence to get forward and, in all probability, keep our wingers occupied, leaving us with next to no attacking threat.
I have the feeling Chelsea might win this one at a canter.

"AND ITS FLETCHER ON THE VOLLEY!" I think I might have slightly turned into a Fletcher fanboy. Oh well

Super player, has really come into his own these past two seasons. One of our best week in week out preformers. Off to the match tomorrow so hope he repeats his heroics of last weekend

Off to the match tomorrow Bet you won't be doing that again in a hurry. You'd have thought Fergie would know better than to be so complacent with his team selection by now.

i go whenever I have the money.
Thought he'd give the team some sort of a back bone. Weren't even guarenteed qualification going into the match.

Weren't even guarenteed qualification going into the match. We were. We got that by drawing with CSKA.

Finally in Manchester and whats the only match I'm seeing at OT this year? United vs. Spurs, league cup And I'm pretty sure we're losing the match as well And who else thinks Fergie should do some business in January? I'm pretty bummed by our quality on the wings. That Obertan bloke doesn't look too bad mind. May sound spastic here, but I really do think Nani's had his chance and just hasn't been good enough...

And who else thinks Fergie should do some business in January? I'm pretty bummed by our quality on the wings. I agree completely. Look at what we have to choose from. Giggs, great as he is, is far more comfortable playing through the middle nowadays, and he's only got another year or so of that in him. Valencia and Park are more industrious than creative, and don't provide enough support or service to our centre-forwards. We all know about Nani - lots of talent, but a strange inability to actually do anything with it. And our other options - Obertan, Tosic, and Ljajic - are still far too young and inexperienced to do any real damage against top-class defenders. Wingers are what we need, most definitely. Rooney and Berbatov are usually good enough to create opportunities for themselves, but a team of United's quality shouldn't have all its eggs in one basket. And Owen's game is almost completely reliant on decent service; without it he's practically a bystander. If you ask me, what we're after is two top-class, creative wingers, and another decent centre-forward to support Rooney and Berbatov. Right now we're seriously lacking a cutting edge.

And he still won't be at the World cup because these are exactly the games he'll score in. Games that mean absolutely nothing. Wolfsburg are a shadow of the team that they were last season.

These are exactly the games he'll score in. Games that mean absolutely nothing. I must be confusing Manchester City with a different Manchester City. And I was cynical too, but thus far he's shown that if you give him chances, he'll take them. No-one expects him to contribute a well-rounded game in the same way that Berbatov and Rooney do, but if he's given service in those big games, the odds are certainly in favour of him tucking it in the back of the net - just as he did against City. And his hat-trick last night, 'meaningless' or not, was a masterclass in what it takes to be a great centre forward.

Honestly, I don't think either Rooney or Berba would have scored that third goal, clever bit of play from Owen there, cutting the defender's run and nice chip.
He could be useful as a bench player for England, I'd rather have him come on with England a goal down rather than Heskey or Crouch. Genius at finding space.
