Wonder what’s happened with Alan? What I mean is, when he left the band he just seemed to disappear and shun anything to do with Oasis. His brother’s comments on why/how he left made it seem he was quite bitter. Don’t blame him for that BTW if he was. Part of my thinks when Noel played with The Who in 2000, that made him want to get Zak in the band and he just made whatever reason up eventually to sack Alan. Who knows. Anyway, Alan playing again and making these vids and via these reaching out to Liam and Bonehead is fucking brilliant. Who knows, maybe he’s realised life is too short after all the shit going on this year and just wants to build bridges again with the hope of playing together again(hiya Noel, hiya pal)? Or maybe he’s content and just happy to be playing drums again? Whatever the reasons, it’s great to see these videos and shows what a brilliant drummer he is. Noel was still having a pop at Alan almost 15 years after he left, saying in the Be Here Now anniversary videos that recording was a nightmare because Alan would speed up during every song. Previously he’s said that he was sacked because his ‘personal life was chaos’. This coming from a Gallagher! My theory - never proved - is that Noel suspected Alan of leaking demos and stories to the press. There’s a Noel interview shortly before Alan left where Noel goes on about ‘someone who must be within the inner circle’ leaking the Heathen Chemistry demos. Have always wondered if he thought this was Alan.

Not sure how controversial this take is on here but it would both take Steve White and Chris Sharrock anytime over Alan

Not sure how controversial this take is on here but it would both take Steve White and Chris Sharrock anytime over Alan I think they're overall more talented drummers, but he really fit Oasis and I don't think any drummer had as much impact on an album as he did to the sound of WTSMG throughout the course of the band

Nah, he's ok but I always thought that Chris Sharrock was better.

Nah, he's ok but I always thought that Chris Sharrock was better. Yeah I agree. Alan's brilliant but he only has one style. Sharrock is great at playing all the Oasis songs no matter who the original drummer was and is generally more versatile.

I think that it boils down to that Chris has a lot more experience than Alan as he's been around a lot longer and he's been in a few different bands. Starting in the 80s when he was in a band called The Icicle Works who were pretty good. But I'm not sure if he was in any other bands in the 80s though.

Chris Sharrock is my favorite Oasis drummer. If Noel and Liam ever make up and reunite they should just add Liam and Bonehead to Noel's existing band.

Sharrock is great at playing all the Oasis songs no matter who the original drummer was and is generally more versatile. Yeah but Alan is amazing at his own style. He played a great role on WTSMG, and his part on "Wonderwall" is the most "iconic" drumming of any Oasis song. Not to dismiss Sharrock, he is a very good drummer (probably more versatile as you said) but he doesn't have as strong a style. Anyway, the worst Gallaghers related drummer was by far Jeremy Stacey. No groove and he murdered all the ballads at gigs ahah

I never liked Jeremy Stacey either and I'm glad that he doesn't drum for Noel anymore.

Plus, Oasis was never completely the same after he left, to me anyway. Jeremy is a surprisingly great drummer. I don't know why he bashed away like he did on tour with Noel. You're not supposed to break a sweat from drumming on If I Had a Gun but he looked like he was trying to get a nail in hard wood. Here's something he did back in 2013. It's a project that kind of came and went and was officially released 3 months ago. His playing is perfect for this song. I don't understand why he played like he did with Noel.

Alan is of course a very good drummer, brilliant in fact for what Oasis were doing at the time but I'd take Sharrock or Steve White.
