THE Oasis drummer! Did we ever get a definitive answer to why he was kicked out? I think he was displeased with the direction Noel was taking the rhythm section in HC and SOTSOG. There were more loops, acoustic approaches, and electronic elements used to where his role was minimized when combined with being mixed lower too (compare the volume of the drums on HC to some of the previous albums for reference). It's a shame, though. Alan White is the Oasis drummer, like you said, and they really missed something once he left (which is noticeable if you watch Glastonbury 2004, the first Zak gig).

Fuckin hell that's got me excited too!!! The music was never the same when Alan left for me, Oasis never quite got their drummer right after him I don’t think Zak was ever quite right but Chris Sharrock was ace. Zak is probably one of the best drummers I’ve seen live, saw him with The Who before he joined Oasis and he was phenomenal but he was never right for Oasis. Alan was the man for me, not doubting Chris but he joined Oasis when they were on the down. Alan was there through their prime and was just the heartbeat of the band. Good to see him back tho, even if it is just on social media.

Interesting. I never knew about their supposed argument, i thought he just left because he’d had enough and was unhappy about the drums being mixed so low on HC. But yes, interesting if that really is another exposed porkie of Noels

I like Alan and thought he was very good but I still prefer Chris’s drumming. I don’t think Alan ever nailed Rock n Roll Star like Chris. Haha I still think the best live drummer for Oasis was his Brother Steve.

Problem we have is I don’t think Noel will do it without Gem and Chris. And Liam won’t do it without Bonehead. Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Gem, Andy, Chris or Alan would be the line up. (more than likely Chris). Mike on keyboards too. Split the duties between the eras of songs.

But yes, interesting if that really is another exposed porkie of Noels We have his brother's version of what happened: Steve White: "There were some disputes about meetings. I wasn't there so I couldn't comment. What you would get would be a story from either side. I am sure they've all got their opinions, and I respect that. The bottom line is that Alan got a call four days before Christmas from 'The Manager', and he was told he was out of the band. And he hasn't seen or heard from Noel or Liam since." "All Alan wanted, was to have a pint of Stella, and the guys to say what we want is to get Zak Starkey in, as we don't think you're right for us anymore. Alan would have had no problem with that, as nothing lasts forever. But it was just the circumstances of the events which were shocking. They shocked me, and they hurt Alan. "…(Alan) would love to play again, but I think he was really hurt the way it was done, with Oasis. But he wasn't the first musician that it had happened to. "But for someone like Liam, and Noel, who presents this image: I am tough, I am hard, and I can take on anyone. They couldn't stand there, face to face, with Alan, I don't like that." www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/steve-white-slams-oasis-treatment-of-drummer-165921

Mmm... so the falling out that caused Whitey to leave was with Liam. It's been 17 years and Whitey's subscribed to Liam...
REUNION IMMINENT!!!
Seriously though, Liam, Bonehead and Whitey, that'll do me. Guigsy would be cool but not an absolute necessity. If Noel isn't there and he's not replaced by Jay Mehler, then I'd be happy.

Given that everyone always said Noel was like the co-manager (wasnt called The Chief for nothing!), it wouldnt surprise me if Liams telling the truth here. Admittedly, Liam maybe should have stayed in touch with Alan anyways if he really still cared. But i suppose he felt that for the good of the band and his relationship with Noel, he had to let Alan go.

Haha I still think the best live drummer for Oasis was his Brother Steve. I’ve been a big fan of a couple of bands that Chris was in (The LA’s and Lightning Seeds) and I do think he’s a good drummer, really fits the sound of Oasis. One of my favourite tunes of Dig Out Your Soul is Waiting For The Rapture and I think I enjoy that not just because of The Doors connection but the drumming is quality. I’ve followed Oasis since Definitely Maybe and although I never minded Tony, you just always got used to Alan on the drums and he always seemed part of the most successful times of Oasis. I’m a big Weller fan and he always runs a tight ship with quality musicians in his band so I was quite excited when Steve played with Oasis on the Brotherly Love tour. I think Chris let himself down by playing with Robbie Williams!

At this point I could see Liam bringing out
Bonehead (guaranteed) maybe full gig Alan White for 2-3 songs Andy Bell for 2-3 songs
And probably 1 encore finale with all of them.
That's my guess. Maybe All around the World due to our current affairs

Found this quote from Alan:
"Who do you tend to hang out with most in the band? I’m with Liam a lot, we just really get on together and have fun. It’s not just about being two geezers in a band, it’s also about being friends. It’s almost like a marriage, really."
Too bad their friendship turned sour.

He tagged Liam in his insta post so they're good. I'm sure he gave Alan a ring or something. They probably had an amazing catch up chat.

Suppose its been long enough to put it behind them, and by the sound of it Noel was more behind firing him than Liam (a bit like Tony, weirdly enough). I guess its all water under the bridge now.

Weren't Liam n Alan referred to as Bert n Ernie whilst they were in the band? I'd love to see Alan involved with something - him/Oasis made me pick up my sticks in the first place.

The Oasis drummer of me, it was never the same when Al got sacked. The music changed alot when Zak joined (listen for example to Wonderwall and Cigarettes & Alcohol on The Glastonbury gig in 2004 its @&/!! dreadful). Chris sounded okay to me but never got the “jazzyrocknrollvibe” to me. I hope Alan will joins Liam band with Bonehead (all the songs) and it would be amazing

It's only Glastonbury. They blew the roof off Poole Lighthouse a few days before.
