Not feeling this one at all

Not feeling this one at all Yeah same. Sounds like something where they wrote the instrumental part first and added some vocals later as an afterthought. Trouble is the generic dance track underneath really isn't good enough to make up for the lack of a well constructed tune around it. Just sounds a bit lazy and uninspired to me, I like the direction they're going in but that song is very underwhelming

I listened to the new album once and really enjoyed the first 3 tracks but after that there wasn't one song that got my interest.

I do actually think it has a really great part in the middle eight though (if that's what it is). FYI, it actually started as an acoustic/piano ballad, and they decided to turn it into that. They said they just messed about with it and went for it. So hats off for that I guess.

I listened to the new album once and really enjoyed the first 3 tracks but after that there wasn't one song that got my interest. I'd give it another go. I'm a huge fan of them and tbh at first I thought some of the tracks blurred into one, after loving the opener (How Many Dreams?) , Olympia and Thursday's like you say. But De Carle for me is one of the best things they've done, and then I'm really loving Jai Alai and Get Ravey (which sounds like an early 00s punk-pop song). They'll smash it live because they always do. One of the most talented bands when it comes to musicianship going. My issue with the album is I feel at times the overproduction has masked what could be good songs.

I have now listened the album through four times, and it's definitely been getting better and better. After the first listen I was kinda disappointed apart from the first three songs and the last one, De Carle, which is absolutely fantastic and definitely one of the best things they've ever done. The amazing beats, drive and the vibe of the song....love it. I can imagine this song becoming a huge live favourite at the gigs.
The middle part of the album sounded first like a one big song and I didn't notice much more variance in the production, but those weaker songs have definitely improved, but I would have liked more braver production for those songs, just like De Carle. The opening (How Many Dreams, Olympia, verybody's Saying Thursday's The Weekend, Dear Future) and finishing tracks ( 21 Year Vacancy, Something We Are Overcoming, De Carle) are definitely the strongest ones, and I would probably drop a couple of songs to make the album more compact. I still love Tommy's voice. It suits the band's sound extremely well.
Overall, it's definitely a good album, but not as strong as the Glow, at least not yet. I'd say, don't give up on it after one listen. Give it some time and it may grow in you. DMA's are still the best band for me at the moment.

Saw them at Wembley Arena the other week and they were brilliant. Setlist was perfect for an arena show and they still couldn't fit in 3-4 of their biggest songs - Tommy refuses to do more than 17 so it's fair enough, saves his voice.

It's good to hear that he's taking care of his voice. 17 songs is a good amount for a gig.

For some reason this new album kind of passed me by, I suppose it was because the lead single didn't do much for me and I had a lot going on when it was released but they're one of my favourite modern bands and one of very few that I've actually met and had a chat with (they're all really nice btw). I gave the new album a listen a few days ago and have had it on repeat since then. It's really good and I actually like the lead single in the context of the album.
Really great album from an underrated band. They're now 4 for 4 for me and I'm surprised they're not bigger than they are.

They really seem like a great bunch of nice and friendly guys. They deserve much more recognition. I wonder how long for a next album. How Many Dreams isn't very old though.

HMD is 1yr old March 31st, last time i spoke with johnny and he said this in interviews is theyre talking a year off, still be writing music though, they toured the bollox off this album and more or less spent more time in the uk last year than they did at home, johnny recently married Hayley Mary ( you should check her out shes mint mate) Tommy has a young son about to turn 2 so time to spend time with friends and family, although personally i can see them gettin bored and be over here by maybe autumn agian fingers crossed, if you're a facebook user there's a post from me a few posts up with a link to DMAnia on facebook the only DMA'S fan group with 8.3K members if thats you kind of deal check it out, the band themselves are aware of this group and do loads of cool things like donations for charity we recently has the gold disc for Tape Deck Sick to raffle of it raised 2 and half grand ad in total we've raised over 12k. As for recognition to most members of the public havent ever heard of them but all their tours over here always sell out and they've played shows to 10K at ally pally if you get a chance next time definitely go watch them they'll blow you away mate and thats a fact nothing like a DMAS gig

Thanks a lot for the info! It makes sense to take some time off to avoid a burnout. I have a feeling we might get a new single next year at least. I'll check Hayley Mary out. Hopefully I'll get to see them live in the future. The atmosphere at the gigs looks insane. I'm not on Facebook, but it's nice to hear what you and other fans have been able to achieve over there. Well done.
