All artificiality, no heart.
This isn't the place for me.

Trying to make this come off as "a new direction" or "experiment inspired by david holmes" is embarrasing. The less Noel can come up with the melody, the more he hides it with rich production - Some Might Say = zero prodution, 100% tune. whatever this forgetable tune is called = 100% production, zero tune. BTW - whoever claims this is better than "Once" - im sorry, Music has a universal truth to it. just go and count the chords, go and figure out the notes. Once is musically superior to this Garageband made FiFa background music. I know lots of people on here are getting their rocks off to it, but I think Once is pretty rubbish - songs about swimming pool hygiene just don’t do it for me. X

This forum has become strangely intolerant of different opinions these days. To question Once being one of the best Liam-sung songs ever is attacking people, while enjoying this track from Noel is embarrassing and foolish. Don't get me wrong, I think Noel is a bit of a twat these days too, but I'll still take This is the Place over Once any day of the week.

I like the music, its got drive and its nicely produced. Chorus is probably the weakest part and Noel's vocals lack soul but its my favourite of whats been released so far.

I never dug dance music; I like New Order (actually a pop-rock band blending dance elements in their music) but the Chemical Brothers or that "Haçienda classics" compilation that was released in 2006 are definitely not my stuff, so unsurprisingly I don't like "This is the place" at all, I think it's bland, soulless & disposable music.
"Black star dancing" was much better in comparison.
But I hope the two other songs on this new EP will be different: no one initially expected "Sail on" to follow "Black star dancing", so we might end up getting a good surprise again this time.

Noel definitely mailed in the vocal melody, especially the chorus. Too bad...the music is pretty cool but the vocal makes this song forgettable. "The Man Who Built The Moon" is a recent of example of how marrying bold production with strong vocal melody = awesome result. We don't quite get that here, in my opinion.

Love the percussion and the verse. Needs a catchy chorus about as badly as any Beady Eye track. Overproduction can't hide that. Solid 6 for me.

28 people gave it an 8? Some people are so far up Noel's ass that everything he does is great to them. This goes for some Liam fans as well. Noel's dance tune phase is pretty boring. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it can't be liked by others, I don't find Once that great and I don't go in a Liam thread to say that everyone is wrong for liking it, it's not for me and it's alright, I'm glad that other people enjoy it anyway. What's even the point of doing this ? Fair enought if you don't like it, are bored... but claiming that people are "so far up Noel's ass" just because they don't share your opinion is ridiculous and pretentious.

It's my favourite of the Gallagher tracks released in 2019, but I think that's as much down to me just loving bands like Jagwar Ma and digging the Chemical Brothers etc. I'm not saying it's exactly like them, but there's definite hints and as i've said, it's a song I've wanted him to do for a while.
But all of the songs released by both brothers are, for me, all in the 6.5-7.5/8 region, which I think is no bad thing!

Colombia has 3 chords and it's one of Oasis' greatest songs. You actually think you personally above everyone else get to define what is musically superior? That's some god complex. I don't think I've ever read anything as ridicous as an Oasis fan asking people to count chords to prove how good a song is. Jesus wept.

I love Noel’s current direction. Totally get that it’s not for everyone, but I’ve always felt like he’s had it in him to do stuff like this.

The moment i heard Jagwar Ma's first album (and their follow up single in 2016) I've wanted to hear what Noel could do with something like that style. Really do think he's got it with this one, and that's why I like it so much. Now, I need to try and figure out the chords haha. Guessing it's not really a tune that's gonna work well for an amateur with an acoustic

I gave it an 8, it could be boring for you but not to me, mate. I still want another album like Chasing Yesterday, but I'm enjoying the new music of both Gallagher, I'm really happy that they're releasing new music

I give it a 7.
It’s enjoyable, layered, Noel seems to be having fun. But it doesn’t blow my pants off. It’s just kind of there. I have to agree with others that say it’s not a song I’d go out of my way to listen to.

I know slagging off Noel's current style is sounding like a broken record now...but it's a simple fact that big productions, style over substance like this, it's ALWAYS where it goes wrong for Noel. Take Magic Pie, for example. Massive, fuck off production values, yet it's a huge pile of poo. Stripped back, that song could have been really great. Talkin' about broken records, yet you're going at BHN's production? I'd say Magic Pie's totally ace in all possible viewpoints imaginable. Never got the Be Here Now -bashing anyway. Great music. Even wish he'd write more and more of those magic pies today. There's your stripped back version anyway. Heathen Chemistry has shit songs .... That record is a fucking embarrassment. hmmm... I may have picked on wrong guy. U don't like the band do you?I liked the band when it was Noel putting class songs out and the album was well-produced. When you get A Quick Peep and Hung In A Bad Place being allowed on an Oasis record..... people think the Chief has only just lost the plot now?? At least Liam had some good tunes on there.

A 7 or 7.5. I like it. For an EP, this is good stuff.
