I thought it´d be eligible for the album charts and it didn´t chart..but it is impossible no top 100. It is possible: it happened. Only on vinyl it sold more than 2000 copies without any doubt. And you can be Top 100 selling 1,5k... Source? You can be top 100 without any physical copies at all. The song itself didn´t chart, because with no physical release (only download&streaming) there is no chance for Noel these days. All the pre-orderers of the "EP" received free BSD download track downloads (which are much more valuable than streams). Still it didn't chart Maybe i´m wrong as i can´t point out any source but i´m 99,99% sure it didn´t chart for whatever reason i don´t know, but not for sales... On itunes it spent all the week in the Top 10, picture disc was sold out on his online store, plus all indie stores were selling a pink edition on vinyl. That week number 79# sold 1,467 copies. It is totally impossible he don´t sell this amount of copies...

Liam is not more successful than him. Of course he is Liam’s on album two, Noel on album four - they’re not at the same point. They are at the same point - exactly 10 years after the breakup of Oasis. One of them made a great comeback two years ago, the popularity of the other one's declining. If you go by the numbers of LPs you can basically never compare the success of artists due to changes of demographics/music consumption. And it's clearly nonsense to compare WM?WN. with CY. BSD was not eligible neither for the singles nor the album charts The track BSD was released as a single track download + streaming on May 2nd but failed to chart in the single charts. According to the chart rules, the "EP" qualifies for the album charts as it is longer than 25 minutes (26:40): "Over 25 minutes OR more than four songs where the format does not qualify as a “Maxi” single or remix single as defined by singles eligibility." www.officialcharts.com/media/656133/official-uk-album-chart-rules-january-2019.pdf- Maxi single (does not apply): "Compact Disc"/"DVD"/"Dualdisc"/"Digital Memory Device" - Remix single (doesn't apply): "One song title and any number of remixes of that featured title to a maximum of 40 minutes applicable to “Maxi” physical or digital formats and 12” vinyl formats." www.officialcharts.com/media/647278/official-uk-charts-singles-chart-rules-march-2015.pdfHow you coming up with that? Record sales? Granted Liam is more popular at the minute and seems more likeable but he’s not as successful as Noel and it will take him years to do that, if he ever does it. Theyre not at the same point as solo artists at all are they, being as Liam has only just started out on his own. Noel’s on his fourth, Liam about to release his second.

In the end, I don't know the exact circumstances as well. Leaving albums aside, as pointed out, the track BSD did not chart despite free downloads for EP buyers and Shockwave peaked at 22. I doubt that this is solely due to the 7". How you coming up with that? Record sales? Yes. So because of Beady Eye we should compare WM?WN. to CY? Ridiculous.

Pretty sure Noel had a comeback more successful than Liam's if you look at just album sales. But then you wouldn't be taking into account how music is consumed differently now etc. You can have this stupid argument loads of fans have turned against him all you like. The gigs don't back it up and the neither does his approach. All he's said is if people don't dig the new tunes, then fine. He might release another song in a month that those same people love and people who currently like this EP don't like. So what?

Sure man of the people Liam doesn't give a fuck either like. It's all bollocks. They're both doing very well. And as fans we're getting the best of both worlds. Just because Noel hasn't played the same four chords on a guitar in a while some people can't hack it (and even that statement is wrong tbf because all the songs on WBTM are pretty much the most simple structures he's ever come up with bar It's A Beautiful World).

Or let's just say he's more succesful since 2017/18 for those who think these albums are not comparable So what? Just get used to the facts whether you prefer this or that music. Is still dig his remixes. Just don't like his boss.

I've really loved each Noel solo album. BUUUUUUT, this EP is just not doing it for me. And to say the opposite of love is indifference really captures it. It's not even that I dislike it, I just don't care. Nothing. I almost wish I hated it because then it'd give me something to feel.

But pleasant in a way air freshener livens up a room for a few seconds. I’ve got to admit, none of these new Gallagher tunes are anywhere near the level of their output in 2017. Shockwave is so subpar compared to Wall of Glass and unfashionable, The River is an absolutely nothing tune, and Noel’s EP - for all the luddites complain of a ‘new direction - doesn’t offer anything exciting at all. I’m amazed at how offended some were by Black Star Dancing - it’s too dull to be offensive and doesn’t offer any of the vibrancy of Who Built The Moon. It’s been nothing but ‘meh’ from the pair of them.

my biggest problem with the WBTM era is that the songs simply arnt that good, as Liam said, if you broke them down and played them on an acoustic guitar, they probably wouldnt be that good.
Its not the sound or the style, its just this thing of writing in the studio I think that leaves them feeling like half baked ideas.

I think it’s a fallacy that music that can’t be played on a guitar is shit. That’s an incredibly limited mindset. Led Zeppelin (I dislike them but many are fans) don’t exactly translate to acoustic (and they’re hardly experimental sound artists in their construction of songs). Kid A wouldn’t exist. And imagine if Waters and co went ‘fuck it, those buskers across the road won’t be able to sing this’ towards Dark Side Of The Moon. What would we be left with? Jake Bugg and Miles Kane as musical pioneers? Fuck that.

The only song on that record that has depth is dead in the water which just so happens to be the only track that was written in Noels traditional style. The difference between that song and the rest of the record is night and day. almost like sitting in a Peugeot for the whole record then suddenly being offered a ride in a Ferrari. (is that a good car? I have no idea).

I think it’s a great ‘vibe’ record, good instrumentation, good beats but I also thinkthere are some memorable pop moments (I think Love Is The Law is one of his finest ‘traditional’ songs in years - very melodic’). I don’t like bands or artists sticking rigidly in trying to write traditional songs. They should be compelled to explore further possibilities in the studio - and while these songs aren’t ‘experimental’ in structure, they’re far more colourful in sound than anything Noel has ever done. Being forced to write the same type of song.....It’s so self conscious, so forced and so inauthentic - like much of Noel’s solo output prior to that, or recent U2 as the best example (shelving their experimental impressionistic tendencies and sonic curiosity for ‘songs’ - suffice to say, much of it is shit).

Best track hes released since oasis by far. That song has a certain quality that none of WBTM has imo. Its not even about being traditional for me.

For me they are 3 of the best solo songs Noel has written. They work fine when playing them on your own or with the built up production, imo. HM is among my favourite 10/15 Noel songs ever. I won't say the same thing about BSD. I just think it's solid work. The songs are definitely there but it depends what you like. BSD goes up a level live and we have a brilliant band to thank for that - something Liam doesn't have. Liam has his voice though and that's fine. It just depends how far his voice can take him now.

Music isn't like sport, you aren't supposed to support your 'team' regardless of what they are producing. If you don't like his latest music then listen to the stuff you did like in the past or listen to different artists. The only person that NEEDS to like what he is creating is Noel Gallagher. And he seems to be into it so good on him.
