Does Noel now have pressure to make a more fan friendly album? I think his wife pushed him to be more "hip" based on the interviews of how he seems to always want her approval of new songs. She also insulting Liam about his act being old. I came to the conclusion she has pushed Noel this direction though is odd because disco isn't really modern. I think the fans rejection of the new songs will force Noel to start being Noel again.. thoughts? Waiting for the insults to fly lol

Again, I don't know why people are acting like these EPs are anything more than collections of remixes and tracks that aren't good enough to make it onto an album. Noel isn't going to be changing his artistic vision based on the responses to any of them.

If he released an album this year, it would sell less copies than Liam's second LP. So no, he won't do it no matter what fans want.

I have discovered a few things over the years. One is that people change - there is no such thing as Noel going back to being Noel again, but he's as Noel now as he's ever been. The other is that there is a weird habit that people have of blaming women when they see a man acting in a way they don't want him to. John Lennon is a pretty good example of that but there are many, many others.

What's so great about an "EP" with less songs than an early 90s Oasis "Maxi Single"?

What's so great about an "EP" with less songs than an early 90s Oasis "Maxi Single"? The 90s are an anomaly in terms of the conception of a single and an EP. Throughout most of the history of music production, a single was 2 songs and an EP was around 4. The 90s was a great time to be a music fan but it was also very taxing on the artists. Essentially the only reason why Be Here Now didn't get an official 4th single was because Noel was just not up for writing another three songs. So it had its significant drawbacks too.

I genuinely cant believe the people on here who think he WONT go back to his old ways.
He won't be able to take the reaction to what hes doing now. He sees the Sardy produced albums as his most successful and he will go back to making an album like that. 100%. I've been saying it for ages and I believe he has even started the backtrack in an interview earlier by saying if he made another morning glory he will make that music again.

In an ideal world I'd like him to do a proper acoustic album next. I'd also like to see him maybe start a proper supergroup with a few other famous musicians and songwriters. I'd gladly see him get over this Dad-disco phase pretty quick.

Based on recent interviews, it appears Noel believes this was a very successful effort and is going to double-down on his current “non-traditional” direction. I’ve seen no evidence that he’s turned the ship the around. If anything, he seems to want to take it further.

Not about Noel, his wife and Liam drama again.
As for the last EP, remixes are great. I really love The Reflex remixes.

Critically it was well received and a lot of fans I’ve seen love the EP, think it’s great.
Noel has been quite clear he isn’t interested what people think, whether Oasis fans or not. He does what he wants, fair play to him not pandering to sell few more copies. He has money and hasn’t sold out & that has to be respected.
Part about wife pushing him to this music is plain daft imo. He just doesn’t want to write the same music over and over. Good on him.

Hardly scientific. "Its not about record sales, its about being real."

I like the EP. Pressure? From whom? He owns the label and already said he will release two more EPs this year. He is not going to release an album this year.
As for the path he will follow, we'll see.

Not so sure now, Liam first album caught fire for a bit because of the timing of events around that time and good PR team. Not so sure he has that now with recents events. Agree Noel won’t do what anyone else wants, especially the “parka monkeys”.

And in what world must people live a life where everything revolves around Liam v Noel, to the point that his new music is the result of him feeling emasculated by his wife? Just think about how pathetic you sound... Crackpot tinfoil hat shite.

Noel's become an artist.
Initially, he arrived with a load of songs and a bunch of natural talent. He worked hard, but some of those songs came so free and easy. Then SOTSOG, HC, and to a point, DBTT came along. He began writing what people wanted to hear. He was searching for hits. Writers can't write like that.
He very much found himself again on DOYS, and since then, with the exception of the first High Flying Birds, pushed himself to explore his songwriting, work, and craft again. In fact, when considering his abandoned work on AA, High Flying Birds remains the only "standard" Noel album and is a real anomaly.
There's little reason to believe he'll turn back now considering the trend. And that's exciting to see a songwriter of Noel's age and stature giving himself over to the artistic pursuit of challenging assumptions and patterns.

Agreed although I think it was The Importance of being idle that was where he turned it around.

Pretty wild speculation on your part. And blaming his wife is just ridiculous. Noel's said himself he's going through phase. He's chasing a whim, an ideal. He's clearly enjoying it and the new band. When it runs it's course he'll go on to something else. That's how art works. I look forward to him bringing the guitars back but until then, I'll just enjoy what he's giving us

Waiting for the insults to fly lol Noel has said loads of times he's not doing what he's doing for the fans. Also, there hasn't been a 'horrible reaction' to the EP. So in short, no. He's releasing two more EPs this year and he's said each are different to the one that has already come out. BSD, RR and Sail On are all good songs in their own right. They aren't exactly a big departure either. Sail On is a song he's been trying to write for about 10/15 years (I'd Pick You Every Time etc - that country style) and Rattling Rose sounds like Chasing Yesterday era tbh. Black Star Dancing is the most different and it's really not that big of a departure. THe main difference is the approach Noel's taking in recording it and making music in a slightly different way (i.e. writing songs on the bass which is evident in both BSD and RR). It's also ace live.

People like his music. Some don't. That's been the case for 25 years. He's not said that at all either. He said he can't make another Morning Glory now. He's been saying it for 15 years. MG and DM were moments in time. He isn't 27 anymore. He is where he is in his career. This is a phase, like the early solo stuff was and like latter day Oasis was and mid Oasis and early Oasis. People/artists/bands change. I'm sure the 2020/2021 album will be different in its own right. The thing is, these three songs aren't really different. The only thing that is different is the approach. But people have it in their heads he's on a wild trip - which he did himself big up with WBTM but that's Noel's exaggeration more than anything. The only real change has been the approach he's taking to writing. If people can't hack him writing a song on the bass then why does he care? His gigs are good, the band are great, he likes what he's doing. There's no need to change his current approach, even if the music that comes out changes each time. Like I've said, nothing on this last EP is any different - really - to what he's done before, other than BSD, and even that isn't that far out.

I've been saying this for awhile that I think his wife has pushed him to write these shitty dance tunes. You'll get hate no doubt as I've already seen. Some people no matter what Noel does will love it. That EP sucked big donkey balls. I didn't even buy tickets for his tour with Smashing Pumpkins. I've lost interest in his new stuff and his live show isnt something I get excited about anymore.
