Would be nice if they stopped bashing each other all the time. If they'd just go to the pub for a chat and a few drink.. I'd like the idea of a one off reunion for charity or a few reunion gigs, without new albums. Then the solo stuff would still be the main thing for them.

He's a liar and a class traitor. He was once my hero. In what way is he a class traitor? I'm working class. I want it all. If I had as much money as he does, I wouldn't give a fuck about where I come from. If Noel was ever a 'class traitor', it was in 1994 when he took that publishing deal for £180k.

Leave it be.

Paul Weller's favourite Noel songs are all quite...interesting.
'The Fame' and 'Flashbax' rank among his favourite Oasis tunes, and yet he dislikes the album they were (rightly) left off; he chose to record a cover of 'One Way Road'; and one of his favourite High Flying Birds songs is 'The Girl with X-Ray Eyes'.
At least we know he's a proper fan. Those are some deep cuts right there. I bet most of the people who go to Noel's gigs haven't heard of those Oasis ones.

The thing is Noel likes to bang on about being working-class, raised on a council estate, and all that. Doing the old Elton John routine. I don't begrudge him any of his wedge, or the lovely things it's bought him. But then when he tries to ram home his working-classness it does end up sounding a bit hollow. Like when Elton John tried justifying dancing with the Queen at some do held at Buckingham Palace by saying he'd been a boy off a council estate, etc., you just think, "Oh, put a sock in it, you old tart."

He's right though: Talk Tonight really is amazing. Just had it on now for the first time in a while. I'm struck by how good his lyrics are. How he goes from being angry at Liam in the first two verses to addressing that lass he hooked up with on the American tour, really quite sweetly. The continuation of "you" makes it a subtle change over. Brilliant songwriting. I'm not one of those weirdos that have it in for Noel's wife, but with the way he sings "I know I'm leaving, but I'll be back another day," it seems a shame it went pear-shaped between Noel and her. Those last two verses are some of the most romantic and affecting lyrics he's ever written.

One of Noel most romantic tracks along with Slide Away and Sad Song.

Those last two verses are some of the most romantic and affecting lyrics he's ever written. Why do those lyrics have to be about her? Maybe they are about his leaving Oasis at the time, right? I often think that it is far to simple to assume that a song about "love" is always about a person, and not an entity like a band, or drugs, or whatever. Judging by how Noel has spoken in the past about that lost weekend, I'm not willing to believe that he was singing about romantic love at all. then again, i guess we'll never know, right? That's why Noel refuses to give explanations about the meanings to his songs, so that the listener can project whatever they want on to it for themselves.

I think noel would be the first one to say it doesn't matter what the song is literally about. It matter's how you interpret it.

I can’t see why it’d be about the band and I agree with theyknowwhatimean. For a song that is evidently about finding solace in someone in troubled times, it’s a bit of a schizophrenic approach to then talk affectionately of the band. I sure as hell hope that line is not about the band as that takes away the universal affecting appeal from it. Talk about sucking the romance from it if that’s the case - the song is a moment where nobody should give a shit about him and his band, and is supposed to appeal to higher motive in just a few minutes. And for all the bullshit Noel talks (no surprise he’s a frequent guest on TalkSHITE), the only reason Noel revises the narrative of the song is because he’s married now and probably wants to avoid an awkward situation with his wife!

I didn`t know the story behind "Talk Tonight" until I watched the Supersonic documentary, TBH it made me like (or even love) this song, because at 1st listen I was kinda like "meh"

He isn't saying he didn't, just that the song relieved the pressure on him to write more songs for only a week. He's admitting to being under a great deal more pressure when was in Oasis than he's admitted to before. It makes me wonder if leaving Oasis was 50% because of the guitar-ducking and 50% pressure. If he isn't back on the hard stuff, then it's marijuana. Other than the hard stuff, that's what is currently on the radar for US customs. He’s definitely mentioned smoking with Holmes when working on WBTM. X Can't remember him saying that. 🤨

Will see if I can find the interview... X Edit: Haven’t found it yet, but I did find this which is amusing if true. You can take Noel out of Manchester.... www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/5091307/noel-gallagher-backstage-teens-alleged-weed/

Number one: weed and Noel have had no relationship for decades. Number two: Don’t you ever surmise what was in the bag he was holding. You're on thin ice.

Wasn’t Noel just referring to being on something during HC? (as opposed to present day)
I can’t be bothered to reread the article but that was my impression.

I really hope Noël doesn't take marijuanã; if he does, I'll be forced to arrest him because I'm a volunteer sherriff's deputy - I took an oath and vow to keep it....
Thanks.

In a recent interview I’m certain he mentioned smoking with Holmes while listening to records for inspiration for WBTM. I remember it cos it made me raise an eyebrow at the time. I can’t find it written on a website so maybe it was a radio interview. X

Right jojoww1877, thuperthonic, papierklemmen, Derrick & Katinká Ingabogovinana, it took me nearly a year to find this, but here’s the article where Noel mentioned smoking weed with Holmes. Thread here: live4ever.proboards.com/thread/88786/next-singleX Ooh, hadn’t seen that. Great news that there’s a new song that might come out this album cycle. Can’t see the full interview, but here’s the snippet from Google search results: “It's not a tribute per se, but Lou Reed died the very first day I was in Holmer's and we did a sort of 'Heroin' kind of thing – slow and a bit trippy – which I've recently finished off. I don't know if B-Sides ...” X Here's the full interview:
