STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS (2002)1. Fuckin' in the Bushes 2. Go Let it Out 3. Who Feels Love 4. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5. The Hindu Times (Demo Arrangement) 6. Gas Panic! 7. Where Did it All Go Wrong? 8. Little by Little 9. Let's All Make Believe 10. Roll it Over Boom. Big comeback. Critical acclaim, twenty-five million copies sold, all male children born in the UK for the next five years named either Liam or Noel. Of all the alternative track listings I've seen on here (not just for SOTSOG), this is the best I've seen. The only one I'm actually gonna try out and listen to

I Can See A Liar was just lyrically poor & terribly arranged, like people said, just needed more work.
Roll it Over live I am certain could have been excellent, the intro for Live version would have needed minor attention from a rift etc then to go into the song, like Gas Panic! it could have easily been extended with a long outro as well which would have worked like with a good set.
PYMWYMI sounded like something from the BHN era, a cross over of IHITIK & MBM musically it's ok, lyrically decent.

Sorry not to see more love for PYMWYMI. It doesn't have a lot going on lyrically, for sure, but I enjoy the kind of noise it is. It's one of my favorites on the album, along with Gas Panic! and WDIAGW.

Tha album is great as it is. People slate PYMWYMI, Little James and I Can See A Liar because of the lyrics...they suit the song (like Columbia's does) and, contrary to popular demand, I wouldn't have axed any from the album.
Fuckin In The Bushes Go Let It Out I Can See A Liar Little James Sunday Morning Call Gas Panic Where Did It All Go Wrong? I Can See A Liar Let's All Make Believe Roll It Over
That would have been one hell of an album that flows so well. The only weak track on the album is the dreary Who Feels Love which doesn't go anywhere.
As it is, it's a solid album which, to me at least, is the joint 3rd best Oasis album

I've always liked the idea of Teotihuacan serving as a swamp song type interlude for SOTSOG. Obviously it would be shortened but it could pad out the album a bit more and completely fits the vibe.

I think that Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants is a solid album but it would have been much better if Put Yer Money Where Your Mouth Is and I Can See A Liar were replaced with Let's All Make Believe and One Way Road. The only problem is there would be three Noel sung songs on it then. But Put Yer Money Where Your Mouth Is and I Can See A Liar should've been b.sides.

Did you try it ? Does it work (same sound level and all) gotta say I never thought of trying that one on SOTsOG.

I've tried listening to it in a playlist within the context of the album (between Gas Panic and WDIAGW) and it works as far as the sound goes but the recorded version is just too long to be an interlude and isn't fleshed out enough to be a proper song. One day when I get the motivation I'll try editing it down to around 2 minutes and see what it sounds like then.

The fact that the album is 21 years old this February is just absolutely crazy and it doesn't even seem five minutes since it was released.

After DM and WTSMG it is definitely the easiest album to listen to in one go.
Be here now is just too damn long, HC is a pretty shite and DBTT has one too many dull moment.

The biggest missed opportunity since....Be here now I'd agree. Even if they had even released a more concise version of what they had (both sonically and structurally) they would've had the world by the balls in 1997. It sucks that they weren't able to focus and let their success get the best of them in what, ironically, brought them to the end of their globetrotting success. A lot of people defend BHN on here but it is just too long and too bloated. By the time Fade In-Out and Be Here Now come around, your ears are tired and you just don't want to have any more of it, especially if you're not in the right mood. Something as simple as replacing Magic Pie with Stay Young and then trimming the songs down structurally and sonically would've been far better than what we got.

I think Keep What You Got would've fit nicely on this album. Anyone know who wrote the lyrics for it, Noel or Ian Brown?
