So it seems we don't have a proper Yeezy thread on here, and seeing as Kanye has reactivated his twitter after being in the studio for a while, now seems the time to create one. Here's what we know:
- Ye initially said the follow-up to TLOP would be called TurboGrafx16. However he also said it would be released two years ago and A LOT of shit has happened since then.
- He has been seen at/near recording studios in France, Germany, and Wyoming. Travis Scott, Nas, and Rick Rubin have been seen with him.
- We have no fucking clues beyond that.
- He also says he's writing a philosophy book, possibly centering around his artistic struggle with ego.
Personally I have no idea what I want from Kanye musically, just like I don't with Radiohead or would have known with The Beatles or Bowie. He's such a visionary and such a wildly open-minded artist that the only thing I want him to remain as unique as he's always been. Also, while we're here:
1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2. The Life of Pablo 3. The College Dropout 4. Late Registration 5. Yeezus 6. 808s & Heartbreak 7. Watch the Throne 8. Graduation

Cannot wait for this book man, his thoughts down on paper will be an interesting read to say the least. Any music until then is a bonus.

Isn't he recording an album in Jackson Hole, Wyoming? Maybe all the geologic activity around him will seep into his music.

If there's one thing I want from the upcoming Kanye record, it's that I want it to challenge me. His last four albums have been packed with more innovation and ambition than any other artist's discography of the last 10 years. But, more importantly, I hated all four of them on first listen. And I want to feel the exact same way when I first press play on the first song of Kanye's eighth. Because the greatest albums are the ones that'll startle you, shock you, repulse you, confuse you initially. Yet all the while they slowly reshape your mindset to the point that there'll come a time when you come back to that track and hit the play button again, and when the familiar sounds emanate from your speakers again, something in your brain will click and you'll exclaim "Oh, now I get it!!"
I want to have that same experience with Kanye's new record the same way an addict craves another high. Thanks.

I like Kanye, but everything from Yeezus on (bar "Real Friends") has had terrible, corny lyrics.

Got the motivation to listen to his last two albums yesterday, and out of curiosity I just looked up the Life of Pablo thread on here. And I got to say that one member has changed his views SIGNIFICANTLY since then

And I got to say that one member has changed his views SIGNIFICANTLY since then I started listening to Kanye as an experiment, lumping him in with Katy Perry, Rihanna et al...as a superficial pop-star idiot, fully expecting to hate it. Listened to MBDTF. By the time Power ended, I knew he was a genius.

Even though I only really like two songs by him (as of now, perhaps Black Skinhead can become the third, too early to tell)

Jesus Christ, Kanye just tweeted support for a conservative activist who, among other things, thinks that police shootings of black people isn't about racism, called BLM "a bunch of whiny toddlers, pretending to be oppressed for attention", and thinks Trump is the savior of the free world. Whatever happened to the Kanye that denounced the US's racist drug policy in songs like Crack Music? Whatever happened to the Kanye that bravely (and accurately) proclaimed on national television that George Bush doesn't care about black people? Whatever happened to the Kanye who snarled with such defiance against the oppression of his people on songs like Black Skinhead and New Slaves?
Still excited for his album, though.

He woke up and didn’t hold onto the slave mentality anymore stateofworkingamerica.org/fact-sheets/poverty/"Among racial and ethnic groups, African Americans had the highest poverty rate, 27.4 percent, followed by Hispanics at 26.6 percent and whites at 9.9 percent." "45.8 percent of young black children (under age 6) live in poverty, compared to 14.5 percent of white children." "Workers earning poverty-level wages are disproportionately female, black, Hispanic, or between the ages of 18 and 25." But, nope, it's the "slave mentality" that's holding African Americans back. Nothing to do with the fact that white Americans have constructed a society that oppresses them at every turn.

There are reasons for those stats, and it’s not white people Congratulations you've found exactly one right wing self hating black man to further your racist agenda. What you said is the real racism here. Self hating? Are all black people required to think the same way? And there are many more black people who think like this who are casted away from their community. Seems like you’re the racist one here. I welcome thought from different walks of life, and don’t disregard what someone says just because I don’t agree with them 100%.

Was it that surprising though? I mean, his mind seems to be all over the place. And wasn't there one time when he said positive things about Trump at one of his concerts or something?

Not shocking that you have nothing to say in response to what I said You just rejected out of hand mystoryisgory's facts about poverty as a direct result of institutional racism so get the fuck out of here with this you don't disregard the opinions of others rubbish. Oh and now, I definitely have no more replies for you because you're not worth another second of my precious time on this earth. You seem incredibly irrational. I never rejected those stats he put forward, I just don’t believe they’re the result of “institutionalized racism.” Mainly because anyone who claims that as the problem, can’t give many examples of what modern day institutionalized racism does. If we were in 1960, I’d agree with you. Today, not so much

It's Kanye, he says stupid shit. Let's be honest, he knows fuck-all about politics in any meaningful way...but I'm willing to trade up to five stupid tweets each album cycle as long as he continues to be the greatest artist in the world. Give him two weeks and he'll probably be denouncing Candice with every bit as much honesty as when he said he loves the way she thinks. He's a toddler, and that's cool with me because without it we wouldn't have MBDTF.
Anyway, back to the important stuff:
- Kanye says he has hand-produced all the albums he's tweeted about, including the Nas one he just announced.
- It looks like Takishi Murakami, who designed the Graduation cover, might be doing the artwork for Kids See Ghost.
