Don't get the criticism of AM at all. I don't get it either, probably along with Humbug their best album to date. Maybe it's a bit too commercial sounding for some, smooth Dre like beats mixed with the Stoner rock with slower ballads, it ticked all the boxes for me. The album did get them huge again after a few years maybe not setting the charts alight since their first two albums. Different strokes for Different folks I guess. I think it probably be held up with their debut album when they feature in those greatest album's lists. It did bring in a new fanbase too, it went from laddie indie crowd to young teenage girls. I've seen every gig they did In Ireland through all the album periods, and during the last tour you could sense a massive change in their fanbase. |

It sort of feels like a Turner solo record with guest stars when you hear that he wrote it all at home on his grand piano and then you read the column of artists playing different instruments. I’m imagining this to have a massive split opinion, less guitars from a guitar band always strikes controversy but they’ve pulled off every change in direction so far! I have complete faith in Alex |

Well,it seems that the album is focused on Alex voice. Let's be honest. If you listen to that Moonage Daydream cover that he did with Miles his voice is getting immense. He's not that lad that speaks fast with heavy guitars anymore. But to be fair,maybe this should've been a better idea for another LSP or even a solo album. I'm just talking for what I've read but an Arctic Monkeys album without guitars is...something I wouldn't expect.

That moonage daydream cover was one of the best things Alex was a part of in the last decade! His vocal performance on that + Sweet Dreams TN were phenomenal and I’ve always been hoping that he’d continue down that route with AM6. Good to hear that it seems to be the case!! 3 weeks to go, hopefully they do drop a surprise single and then we won’t have to wait so long to find out |

Obviously not listened to the album yet,but it seems more like an Alex Turner record. Intimate,calmed and delicate. Don't know what to think tbh. I knew things would change like every single record they have done,but first the guitar out and now it seems that a huge part of the album is entirely done by Turner. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a great mature record,but maybe not a 'band' album. We'll see I guess. |
