European and North American dates yet no single.. surely we can't be more than a couple of weeks away now? April for the single. June I say for the album, that's my bets anyway. Be surprised with a tour coming up that they won't be playing at least two or three new numbers in the set.

posted 20 days ago you would think it would have gained more traction if there was anything in it, I'm guessing not.

Suck it and See is a serviceable enough collection of songs, but my, is it dull!
There's no colour to any of the recordings at all. Everything's so dry. Take Piledriver Waltz, for instance. That's a really good hook that "You look like you've been for breakfast at the Heartbreak Hotel" bit, but you hardly notice because they don't do anything with it. Alright, there's a synth playing that sorta sounds like a choir, but it's buried in the mix, so the track never sounds sufficiently wistful and dreamy as it could (and should) have. Also, Turner's vocals--mostly a monotonous drawl throughout the album--are too loud and sound separate from the instrumentals, so at times he sounds like he's just singing karaoke.
I don't know whose idea it was to record it live, but I think it was ill-advised. They've never struck me as a particularly good live band; I think they need time in a studio, and plenty of overdubs, to make them sound good.
The way the record has aged rapidly, due to its unimaginative arrangements and bland production, puts me in mind of Don't Believe the Truth. It's weird that they should make their Don't Believe the Truth as their fourth album, when they were all still in their mid-twenties. What happened there?

I mean, there's a fucking sixagone on the cover and in the main page of the official web. Maybe AM6 its like a 'demo name' or something. I don't like it but well, could be possible.

First single won't be until after the first announced show date so far, and that's early May.
So many baseless rumours and so much straight-up misinformation has been flying around since as early as 2016. The above is pretty much the most we can confidently hold on to.
Really just a waiting game now.

As for the style of the album, people's predictions are ten-a-penny across the internet and "psychedelic rock" is the meagre extent of most opinions. We know the album was recorded in La Frette Studios near Paris. This being the recording location of Nick Cave's 'Skeleton Tree' was reportedly an influence. What's really interesting is that, yes, this is coming off the back of a 5 year break between albums. But Alex has been far from stationary in this time. As well as the Puppets' album, Alex wrote the lion's share of Alexandra Savior's 'Belladonna of Sadness' - recorded 2015 and released 2016 - with James Ford on production duties. That one is really worth a listen. So satisfying instrumentally with such well constructed songs. (Side note - the thing that hit me most about that album is how subtly distinctive AT's writing is. A number of songs had me thinking immediately "that's such a Turner chord progression". Hard to explain but there's a lot of minor key magic.) The upshot is this - what was ostensibly the longest period of inactivity has been a period of near-constant writing. There must have been ideas, concepts, songs that stood out during the 5 years that could appear now or at least have influenced the creative direction somewhat. Time will tell.

I'm not going to judge songs I haven't heard yet only by their titles, but I get the feeling that Alex Turner is trying too hard to be funny/clever/witty, again. Don't get me wrong, the man has proven himself to be a sometimes very good lyricist, but from Humbug and forward, it feels like he tries too much to be the "metaphorical mastermind" all the time, perhaps feeling the pressure of being hailed as the "songwriter of his generation" by some people. In the beginning his witty/clever lyrics felt natural and sharp, now they quite often seem forced and in the worst cases, cringeworthy. Anyway, hopefully he can get it right this time. I am yet to give up on him. But with that said, if I'm listening to the new album and the first few tracks give me an "AM-vibe", I'm gonna run for the fucking hills ^^

Those track titles don't fill me with confidence to be honest, WTF?
Although quite intrigued by "Science Fiction" I must say.
Are we being trolled right now? I sort of hope we are, because if those are for real then i got bad vibes already.

I am very ready, been far too long since their last album. Wtf are those titles all about, I know they've had some weird titles in the past but "World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip" ffs.

I hope they change the sound, that little preview sounded like AM with 80s synths tbh. Also the names don't really surprise me,if you watch that TLSP interview where they have to define all the album songs with a phrase you'll see that it's no surprise. Saying that 'Sweet Dreams TN' is defined with literally 'Four Little Cupcakes'
