Fireside is the only truly great track from AM. Suck it and See is their best work along with Humbug. I can't listen to their first 2 records as they sound too dated to me now. I agree about their first two albums but AM is my favourite.

Btw, I've heard like 5 Arctic Monkeys songs played in bars in Amsterdam. Surprisingly all of them have been from the debut album. Dancefloor x2, Mardy Bum, Vampires and something else. I was surprised when my hostel bar played Fools Gold, Dancefloor and My Generation all three in a row

Well,there goes mine
WHATEVER THE PEOPLE SAY I AM THAT'S WHAT IM NOT
A Certain Romance: My favourite AM song. I love everything about it,the intro, the lyrics, the structure...and that 'Not in the same way' bit. Jesus. That's how you end an album.
Riot Van: My problem with their debut is that there are too many fast songs and to me,a good album needs to stop and slow things down a little bit. Riot Van is the only quiet song of the entire album and to me it's so fucking bland and boring. Skip.
FAVOURITE WORST NIGHTMARE
Do Me A Favour: There are so many great songs in this record. Brianstorm,Fluorescent Adolescent,505... But Do Me A Favour got my ear the first minute I listened to it. The drums and the bass are brilliant. And that ending...fucking hell.
D Is For Dangerous: BOOOOORING. I just can't remember anything special about this song.
HUMBUG
Fire And The Thud: As you can imagine at this point,I love Arctic Monkeys songs where in the ending everything explodes. There are other great tracks that end this way in this record but the lyrics and the air instruments gets me in this one.
Dangerous Animals: I always mistake D Is For Dangerous with Dangerous Animals. And not because of the title. Its because both songs are boring as fuck. The bit where they just spell the title is ridiculous.
SUCK IT AND SEE
Love Is A Laserquest: I got an emotional attachment to this song. The lyrics make me cry like a little girl. But if it wasn't for my personal attachment, there are so many faves on this record. That's Where You're Wrong,Reckless Serenade,Black Treacle, and even the title track and Piledriver Waltz (Must say that I prefer the Submarine EP version though) Probably my favourite AM record.
Brick By Brick: Do I really have to explain? HOW is this a lead single?
AM
Fireside: Would choose Knee Socks but I feel that I've listened to it too many times. Fireside is a really underrated song in this record for some reason. The beggining of the drums with the acoustic guitar sounds fantastic to me.
I Want It All: Who really cares about this song? Having b-sides like Electricity,You're So Dark,Stop The World Cause I Wanna Get Off,2013 and letting this shit in the final cut is stupid. Not as much as releasing Brick By Brick as a lead single to be fair.

Brick by Brick wasn't a lead single to be fair, it was only a teaser. And I quite like it to be fair, I prefer it to "All My Own Stunts" which many seem to rate as the best track on the album, where as I consider it the weakest. Its almost as if different people have different opinions One mans best is another mans worst. I think most their tracks are of a high quality and its hard to choose between them. I mean I listened to all the tracks I listed as "worst" and they are pretty good still. Not exactly bad songs at all.

It's not a bad track but a bad first taster of that album, I'm shocked they didn't go with Black Treacle or That's Where You're Wrong (love the Stone Roses vibe of that song) would have been better of what kind of direction that album was going in. SIAS is their Summer album, probably their most indie album as well. Also love Alex Turner's Submarine soundtrack released before the SIAS album, some great stuff on that. Another one that has the summer feel to it. I think as a band they are one of the few, in my opinion, never released a truly disappointing album.

But their debut's production does let it down Does miss that James Ford touch that other albums have. Think the songs on that debut are fantastic but the production not so much, it's a bit the same with The Smith's debut album, bloody great songs but you wish Stephen Street was producing it.

Listening to AM now.
R U Mine gives me such a buzz. Forgot what a great song Fireside is too. Can't wait for the new album.
