And the studio version, which sounds so different.
Got to say I much prefer the live one, personally.

I really love Mirrorball but the latest fails to impress. A bit like Damon Albarn of recent times, nice ideas going on, got the right ingredients but just utterly lacking in anything remotely tuneful.

Ain't Quite after Mirrorball on album? I don't like it to be honest. But let's wait to hear whole album.

Everything we’ve heard so far has been low gear tempo. Would be nice to hear more diversity. The crooner speak vocals and strings can only take you so far.

A lot of AM heads banking on “Hello You” to be their AM banger. We shall see.

I thought that it was so beatiful after first 6 or 7 songs and I was gonna give this album an 8 and hope that it will grow on me to get even bigger score, but... it is boring actually and there are no big ideas or anything. It had potential and I don't mind new sound but it is still missing many things.
But, for example, I didn't like Body Paint and now is my favourite song on an album. So, maybe it needs multiple listens.
There are not faster songs or big singles if someone is looking for that. I can enjoy an album without those things but then it needs to have some other ingredients to compensate for it.
It is slow and boring album. That is the fact. But someone is thinking the same about jazz for example but you can't deny greatness of many jazz albums and how many ideas and things are going on. I don't think that is the case with The Car.
After first listen
6.5/10
Best song: Body Paint Worst song: Hello You (🤢)

I find it amusing to read all the comments on social media and AM reddit. They all give huge huge applause for the band for not repeating themselves going from "AM" to "Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino" and yet I would argue that TBHC has similar DNA to "The Car". Crooner vocals, low gear, restrained guitars which were all trademarks of the previous LP. This is all based on the 4-5 tracks before "The Car" comes out. Evan Alex has said that this new album is a further extension of those sounds and themes.

To me, it actually sounds a bit like C'mon You Know.
Liam's album is more like Lennon's, The Car is more like Bowie's records, they have McCartney in common.
Modern production, but not too modern... some good ideas, but not that good and not many of them...
Few good songs but nothing really special in any way.
A little bit of this, a little bit of that but there is no one consistent sound and idea behind it and songs are not that good to compensate for it.
Some people don't like Tranquility Base but at least when you hear few seconds from any song from that album, even if you forgot that song, you will now immediately know from which album it is.

It's a decent listen but it's like nothing really stands out I'd have to give it a few more spins and see what happens

It's a decent listen but it's like nothing really stands out I'd have to give it a few more spins and see what happens I’ve listened to it 3-4 times now top to bottom. The album doesn’t have a clear commercial single to my ears. The best bets are “Body Paint” and “Hello You” but neither are gonna be a big massive hit. I am surprised so many songs are in low gear and similar to one another. I’d like a little more sonic diversity after a 4 year wait.

Great album. AM don't get enough credit on this forum for what they are and what they do. Great band and absolutely beautiful album.

Really enjoyed the title track on first listen, definitely hear the Ennio Morricone influence on this one, The Good the Bad and the Ugly vibes.

Highlight of the album might be big ideas outro, inject that shit straight into my veins pls
