As you were comfortably for me - bar dead in the water I found myself wanting to skip half of the WBTM songs. Instantly went back to as you were as soon as I'd had listened to it through once.
A shame as some of the songs could have been great wiithout the Holmes influence.

Very close but I've gone for As You Were. Noel's album has a much more interesting sound but some of the songs aren't really there and Liam has the benefit of being the vastly superior vocalist.
I'd love to hear an "out there" Noel album with Liam on vocals.

How can you even say an album will or won't stand the test of time if one of them came out only a month ago and the other one came out yesterday? Because it's normal that you like to listen to a brandnew album more often than to a "old" album. The older it gets the less you listen to it. I listen AYW almost everyday and it still isn't boring for me. The last time I got this feeling with a Gallagher Album was 1998 with "The Masterplan"! But who knows, WBTM might be a grower. A shame that we seem to be forced to compare nowadays because those both hate one another that bad. I like them both!

AYW. I love Noel to death...but I'm not having this new album at all. I'd say Liam's album was a real success and achieved what it set out to. I can personally take it or leave it because it's a sound that's been done to death and something that rarely interests me. It's still the perfect album for Liam to launch his solo career, so in that respect i have to say it's a good album. As for Noel's album, i don't think it hits the mark it was intended to hit. It's easy to see what he tried to do, some "cosmic pop" album as he puts it, psychedelia and different influences mashed to together like he hasn't done before. The problem is that there's people out there that can do this music far, far better than he can. It's not really that experimental or clever, not that psychedelic or interesting, not really many good songs either. It's like he's dipped his toe into a few things but still played it very safe. It's not quite the "cosmic pop" album he thinks it is. It never really commits to anything different. For their intended purposes, Liam's is probably the stronger album and does what it set out to do. Spot on.

Who Built the Moon for me. I'm really happy that Liam has had such a big success but I got bored of As You Were pretty quickly and, apart from a few tracks, I have no urge to listen to it again. On the other hand as soon as I finish Noels album I often find myself going right back to the start, I'm hoping this album is a sign of things to come from him. Nothing in Liam's album comes remotely close to the emotional intensity of the end of Who Built The Moon. It's the strongest sequence of songs Noel has put released in an age. There's the euphoria and endorphin rush of Love Is The Law, the brooding psychedelic cynicism of Man Who Built The Moon and the regretful and haunting Dead In The Water, in addition to the contemplative instrumentals. Liam's is great for a quick snack, but Noel's stuff is something you can really get your teeth stuck into. Very very few albums this year compare to the emotional rollercoaster of it.

I feel AYW is more pleasing overall. Only song I skip is Doesn't Have To Be That Way. sometimes Chinatown. I still listen to it regularly.
after one day, with WBTM I go from Fort Knox to Careful, then Love is the Law, TMWBTM and Dead in the Water. I have no interest in the rest. the instrumentals would have been better as one track. maybe a hidden or bonus track. the album feels incomplete, it needs one or two more good tracks.

I disagree, to me I've All I Need is the most emotional track of both the albums.

That and the fact it is in the Noel section of the forum. The fact that it's a 50/50 vote right after WBTM shows just how strong AYW is. When someone polls this again in 1 year AYW will probably win confortably. add that this is posted in noel section.

I think you all Noel fans are ignoring the fact that Liam attracted a good amount of new fans with this new album. And you also ignores the fact that the album is winning the pool because the album is better not because Noel tried different things.Just accept and enjoy Noel's album. But it is better. And that’s MY opinion. No need for the Liam fanboys to get in a hissy fit about it. They seem to think there's some sort of battle going on. They get caught up in the brother's publicly fighting and feel they're combatants themselves. It's sad.

As You Were might be longer in lenght, but that doesnt means that every song is of the same quality. You wouldnt have released something like Come Back To Me as the first single of as you were or album #2, wouldnt you? Also holding back songs was a bad thing that Oasis did, why would any of the brothers do the same with their solo stuff?

I voted for Who Built the Moon. As you were had the stronger start with the first 4 tracks but WBTM was more evened out and bigger ending.

I prefer Who Built The Moon. If the majority prefer As You Were, glad youse are enjoying it, just happens not to be as much of what I'm into atm. For anything that anyone likes, if it's popular, they'll use it's popularity as some sort of argument to state why it's good, and if it isn't, they'll still argue for it in the face of that because that's what they like. An album could sell ten copies or ten million, but if it ends up being an album that's significant in your life and gets you through a certain time, then none of the rest of it really matters imo.

If Dead in the water is given the push could be easily another one given the views on youtube and the iTunes charting. Also it's a Beautiful World Will have another one in the charts. Nothing like wall of Glass or For What it's worth(I still dont like this one) but since the begining of the promo it was known that all would be different from Noel. We have 30 songs that werent there just 3 months ago, why wasting time discussing which one is better? If As You Were is for you good, if WBTM? Is for you good. If you like both then great!

I'm not getting the emotional intensity from the album in fact it seems to me more of a victory of style over substance.

I don't know man. Liam's voice and how he delivers it can be its own instrument, and its own brilliant piece of production. The thing that got me into Oasis when I was 7 was Liam's voice and his delivery, and this hasn't changed. Obviously, the strength of each song (thank you Noel) was also paramount. For me, from Come Back to Me to It Doesn't Have to Be That Way is a pretty special journey. Come Back to Me has a chorus where Liam absolutely delivers The "Here Comes My Epiphany" line on Universal Gleam is special. That alone gave me goosebumps. Only Liam could have delivered that line in that way. I've All I Need is unreal. The whole song is a journey, doesn't need fancy production, just needs a bit of an up and down feel, and then Liam will do the rest, which he did. I saw him live the other night and honestly I enjoyed this the most, he delivered it well and it felt emotional, rather than just another song. It Doesn't Have To Be That Way is Liam doing something different, and it worked. I don't care about the autotune, his voice fucking lifts that song. Its incredible and something others just couldn't do. Liam gave the comforting Oasis sound which is what most wanted, and while the songs may not have been a classic Noel written song, fuck they were pretty damn good. Noel's output wasn't what it once was, still amazing, but not his peak. If you take away flow, production and everything else, and just bare bones songs, I think AYW's output is just better though the last 4 songs on WBTM not including the interludes are fucking great and I think bare bones they still would have been. The first half of the album, without the production, just as bare bones songs, hmmm I don't know, not his strongest. The good thing and the most important thing is, both Gallaghers gave us a different type of emotional journey within a month of one and other. Never thought that would happen.

I could see:
Holy Mountain Keep on Reaching Beautiful World She Taught Me How to Fly If Love is the Law The Man Who Built the Moon
All being relatively successful singles if they were promoted and released in the proper way. With Noel's management, though, that's about as likely as Liam performing a saxophone solo.

We could argue for hours about quality and we will never agree. It's subjetive. Although AYW is clearly winning here.
But i'd never though that in 2017, after Beady Eye and two Noel's successful albums, Liam would outsell Noel so clearly. And that in 2017 Liam would be a more relevant act in UK. Yes, probably Liam and his PR team has done some things right, but it's obvious Noel&his team must have done some things wrongly. Not only bad promotion, because Noel's done a lot of press&radio. Maybe, just maybe, this album isn't as good as it used to be...
