Not trying to create the Liam vs Noel thing, its something that it was going to happen sooner or later so lets talk about the music and the records, not the brothers. To me its a bit soon to judge WBTM? but so far I think its a really solid album. We must be thankful, this is been an amazing year for Oasis fans, and both albums are fantastic and solid.

On first listen, I definitely prefer Who Built the Moon? but they're too different to really compare and different enough to like both.

As You Were succeeds much more at being what it sets out to be. Liam himself said he didn't set out to reinvent the wheel, just to build a great wheel. He did it beautifully. I appreciate Noel's more adventurous compositions and production, but WBTM is weighed down a bit by the constraints he set up for himself. The real fruits of his explorations will come in album four, when he has a better handle on the new musical vocabulary he played with here.

As You Were for me at this point.
WBTM succeeds best in its darker or heavier moments. A couple of its more poppy moments could be Take That songs.

As You Were is a beautiful, and rather mellow album. I enjoy it for what it is, despite 3-4 very weak tunes. Regardless, better than Beady Eye so a rather welcome return. But I’m no way it can be better than a Noel Gallagher album, I’m so many aspects. But like some said, two awesome albums and that’s what I take.

WBTM - for me, based on the first listens.
When I first listened to AYW, I was kind of ready for it to be over, if you know what I mean? It was great, but I felt like the 12 songs (not inclusive of the bonus material obviously) was more than enough to satisfy me.
Having literally just listened to WBTM, I want more. Whether that, in future, will make me dislike certain aspects of it, I'm not sure. It left me wanting more though, and I think that's what makes it stand above AYW for me.
I also don't think I can pick a 'stand out' track that I really, really love on AYW. Whereas both Be Careful... and The Man Who Built The Moon have grabbed me straight away.
But we've got both. Seeing them both multiple times next year. It's going to be great.

I really enjoy all tracks on AYW every time. But on the contrary I skip some tracks on WBTM for now.
So As You Were for me.

I really don't want this to sound derogatory, but I bet my ass that AYW will win in this poll not because it's a "better" album, but because it's musically a more familiar territory to the hardcore Oasis fanbase. Anyway, WBTM gets my vote.

Going by the three songs I've heard, WBTM by a mile.

Anyway, TMWBTM gets my vote. That's a sensible prediction; this is an Oasis forum, Liam's album sounds more like Oasis. There's such a vast difference between the two that you can by-and-large tell who'll prefer which one - those who prefer indie/rock will like As You Were, those who like more experimental stuff will like Who Built the Moon?. It's more likely that indie will have a bigger fanbase on here than trip-hop or ambient or whatever. That's why it's so pointless to discuss the two, I think. They're just so, so different.

Who Built the Moon? it's just a rock/pop album. I don't see any experimental stuff on it, frankly. I prefer AYW because the songs are better. In my opinion, obviously.

Anyway, WBTM gets my vote. It will be close but I think Noel will win the poll (that rhymes!). The desire for change and the depth of the music will likely prevail over comfort zone, but I don't deny that comfort zone will be a huge factor here as well.

2 really really good records. Long may they both continue to make music, be it as solo artists, or eventually together again.

I'd say Liam's album was a real success and achieved what it set out to. I can personally take it or leave it because it's a sound that's been done to death and something that rarely interests me. It's still the perfect album for Liam to launch his solo career, so in that respect i have to say it's a good album.
As for Noel's album, i don't think it hits the mark it was intended to hit. It's easy to see what he tried to do, some "cosmic pop" album as he puts it, psychedelia and different influences mashed to together like he hasn't done before. The problem is that there's people out there that can do this music far, far better than he can. It's not really that experimental or clever, not that psychedelic or interesting, not really many good songs either. It's like he's dipped his toe into a few things but still played it very safe. It's not quite the "cosmic pop" album he thinks it is. It never really commits to anything different.
For their intended purposes, Liam's is probably the stronger album and does what it set out to do.
