This. The songs that work on WBTM are absolute corkers, but the ones that don't are really, really bad. As You Were achieves its goals much better. AYW has some real stinkers too Not for me. It has its comparatively weaker tracks, but WBTM has songs that are just Dave Holmes wanking into a megaphone. In French. Or to put it another way, I can live through the filler in AYW. The filler in WBTM makes me actively angry.

No harm to Liam, but if Who Built The Moon is a bottle of Don Perignon, then As You Were is a can of Red Stripe nicked from the Bargain Booze spilt on the carpet, soaked up with a sweaty sock and rung into a mug already being used as an ashtray.
Well done Holmer. Well done Noel.

Like them both. Just different music for different moods. Controversial post of the day. asyouwere doesn't vote for As You Were! Most of all, I'm an Oasis-fan, so no Liam vs Noel crap for me. I do enjoy Liam's interviews, attitude, ... more but I'm not gonna give an opinion about who's the bad one bla bla. I don't know these people, and actually I couldn't care less. And they both couldn't care less either. Let's just enjoy all this varied Gallagher-music we are getting the past months.

Let’s just enjoy them both. Separate but equal folks. If you want fast punchy rock we got Liam. If you want atmosphere and vibe we got Noel. We got plenty to go around for all shades of Oasis fans. This is a good thing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having an opinion or preferring one over the other.

I guess this thread was unavoidable, but I would still prefer it had been avoided

You might as well compare Trout Mask Replica and Hotel California.

Cant be compared, clearly. WBTM is a musical journey, As you were is a collection of songs(writers).

as you were - 5.5/10
who built the moon - first day impression 7.75/10
were in as you were you have plodder after plodder, and sometimes you don't even know which song you are listening to, cos they all seem to sound the same, you have a nice variety of different songs and styles in who built the moon.

How dare you. You can't like both of them!!! Why? I really love As You Were. It's a great album and fantastic come back for Liam. I'll listen to Who Built The Moon on this Friday, so I can't say anything about it at the moment, but I'm pretty sure I'll love both albums.

As You Were is the best Gallagher related album since Be Here Now. From top to bottom it's an amazing album and I really do believe there is zero filler on it. I really don't know the last time I've felt an album by any artist was so complete. I think I'll be listening to it for years to come.
Who Built The Moon has a couple good tracks, but the rest are quite forgettable. A lot of people on this forum are going apeshit over it at the moment, but they're an excitable bunch. I don't think it will stand up to the test of time, and in a year or two, we'll see many of the people who praised it saying that they like it, but listen to one or two songs on it regularly. More or less, business as usual on L4E.

Really don't understand why Oasis fans have to mirror Liam and Noel and act all childish .....for the record and a bit of back story...I don't rate either Beady Eye album (but they do have moments that could have been good but production is terrible)....Noel has made 2 very solid albums that I can still listen now!
On to the present, I love AYW and do think its one of the albums of the year and one of the best Gallagher albums with virtually no filler and Liam sounding as good as he has since 2000...I still listen it twice per day and am still discovering and enjoying little things on it, the production and sound imo is perfect
WBTM = I'm not feeling it at the moment, even The Man Who Built The Moon is giving me no great joy, there is nothing wrong with it (except maybe I don't like the tone/delivery of the vocals). just not for me. I think after a few days of playing in the car I will know if its a grower
