Wow! You really do hate him. I'm amazed you can bring yourself to keep posting on an Oasis forum, which makes me wonder why you still do...? I don't hate him. Unfortunately your question is to stupid to warrant an answer. You don't hate him, but you obviously don't like him very much either. Let me rephrase my question - If you don't like a songwriter, why are you constantly posting on a forum which is all about a band which the songwriter belonged to? Is it because you prefer the singer of the band which this forum is based on? Or did you you used to like the songwriter many years ago, but don't like him much now?

I used to like him more but this has faded over the years, so the fact that I think he is a bit of a bollock now doesn't invalidate my love for Oasis or my want to comment on them or my interest in what he releases next. There is also a quite a large amount of the forum dedicated to someone I am most definitely a fan of and lots of other bits I enjoy reading on various topics. I thought that would all be pretty obvious. Liking either of them is not a prerequisite to being a member of the Live4ever forum.

It's just that every post of yours I have read is usually negative or bitter, slagging off Noel at any opportunity. I have yet to read a positive post from you, but no doubt there are some, its just that I haven't come across any yet. Which is why I asked the obvious `stupid' question. If I trawl through other threads, no doubt I'll find some positive posts from you, as you are an Oasis fan first and foremost, like most of us on here.

People should be able to deal and accept if others prefers the one you don't prefer. I'm both fan of Noel and Liam, but I'm still a big Oasis fan, but I don't have a problem if other people are not fan of Noel/Liam solo. I don't have to force them to liking same ones I like.

And just to clarify, if your post was aimed at me too - I wouldn't dream of forcing someone to like the same things I did. That would be boring. I was trying to understand more on Tom's dislike for Noel, as this is what I have noticed most about his posts that I have read on here.

The above exchanges reminds me of a recent quote by Brian Clough's European Cup winning captain John McGovern when asked about Brian.
"Clough? Not my sort of man. Not the sort of man I'd go for a pint with. But work for him? I'd walk over hot coals for him"
That's sort of what I think a lot of us are feeling about Noel Gallagher at the moment...

You mean loving his music, but not loving the person he has become? Perhaps, although I think a few fans are not loving his music anymore either (but I'm happily not one of them).

Well that's what I meant about myself anyway (and I recognise it's his right to be anything he chooses). You're spot on about this album - it's the one I wish they'd made in 2002! But one supposes Liam made that impossible. And that's fine to have different visions of what Oasis should have been... the problem that resulted from that conflict was I guess the watered down compromise hodge podge of DBTT, DOYS and not the 'clarity' of AYW and WBTM.. What Noel AND Liam don't appear to realise is that it's perfectly reasonable to like BOTH without being beige, a parka monkey, a common pigeon...

And I fall into that category - liking BOTH, but more importantly, not getting the least bit offended by being called either beige or parka monkey.

Just acknowledgement he has actually written songs would be a start. Noel is talking as if hes not done any of it. Maybe Noel wants people to think that. If Noel was honest, he'd have to share as many songwriting credits for his upcoming album as Liam did.

Its become really easy to blame Liam for the lack of creative direction in Oasis, but no one stopped SOTSOG. That was heading the right way but just bombed in sales (in oasis terms) and Noel went back to the usual formula.
Which i fucking garuntee will happen for the next album if this one does the same.

It's not a lack of creative direction. It's a conflict, surely? (Liam wanted rock & roll, Noel's instincts since 2000 have always been to pull away). That's not blaming Liam I think. Just the reality of two powers pulling apart slowly.

Noels album will have 13 songs credited to him (japanese deluxe), Liam's had 15 (deluxe) of which only 2 were completely written by others and one, Wall Of Glass, was cleary aiming for a hit (thus so many writers). If you substract these songs from AYW and add some credits for Holmes on WBTM every now and then, you'll have more or less the same situation for both albums. To be fair, I'll have to listen to it completely, but Fort Knox i.e. sounds like a Holmes tune to me.

The reason they went back to the forulaic Oasis was because of sales and publit perception. Again, DOYS had Falling Down, To Be Where Theres Life etc so they had it a bit there too. Isnt as if Noel went down a different route for any of his solo albums until now and even the songs so far arent anywhere near this change in direction i keep hearing about.

Over the years I've got the impression Liam has opted for the types of tracks I prefer too to be on the albums, over the shit that Noel opts to put on. I recall Liam making sure IHITIK was on BHN - arguably the best track on the album, yet Noel often disses this song. I also recall Liam fighting to get Stay Young on The Masterplan - again, in my book it is the best track on that album too. I also like the fact that BHN is Liam's favourite Oasis album. I probably have more in common with Liam's music tastes than I do Noel's - even though Noel wrote my favourite album.

There’s lots of interviews of Liam talking about it. And Noel, Andy and Gem too. Like Noel writing the solo for BOADC. You can hear their style/trademarks. Why are you guys scared to accept the truth?
