to be fair, If I Had a Gun is pretty syrupy sweet and maudlin FWIW is not the weakeast one for me, I skip Chinatown every time as for It's a Beautiful World... I'd give it a 5/10. the the effects on the chorus kinda suck Chinatown is the best track on Liam's album. that's the good thing about music. it's subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure I think Bold is the best one.

What’s the current normalised rating? 7.22. Best any of Noel's new songs have gotten. Holy Mountain got a 5.75, and Fort Knox a 6.36, though Fort Knox's poll didn't contain a zero option. Quite impressive, especially when you consider that the Holy Mountain poll still looks like a normal distribution!

That’s fairly harsh IMO.

It's not a bad song but it really doesn't mean anything to me. It's like some song that you hear on the radio, you don't change the station but you don't go searching for it on google immediately. It's good song but to quote Noel: ''But we don’t strive for good , do we? We strive for great.''

It's impossible to compare these ratings to those for the Chasing Yesterday singles because those weren't measured on a numerical scale, but I agree, the response for this cycle has been less enthusiastic than usual. Which is a shame, because I love all of the songs we've gotten thus far.

good song, but it needs a bit more scissors. thanks. Just watched it on Jools. Charlotte doesn't half look like she's threatening Russ Pritchard with a haircut! cheers Mike

It's probably the best song Noel has written since The Shock Of The Lighning

At first I was a bit like "Okay. It's nice, but is this it?" Then I was cycling home yesterday evening and it was very dark outside. I had my Spotify on shuffle and this song came on. That's when it hit me.
Although it does drag a bit at a few spots, it gives me this very melancholic feeling and I find it beautiful.
Edit: I wish the organ or synth or whatever that is was louder. Love that.
Also, I still can't rate songs.

I feel like it just takes too long to get anywhere. The chorus is good, the sound is very cool, but the verse melody is somewhat simplistic and you don't get to the chorus until 1:40 or something.

I raise my note to 6.5, slowly getting into this one, although the lack of good organ solo during the instrumental part is a crime.
