I think it would be worth a studio recording eventually. He should give this song to Taylor Swift. I'm not joking. It could be a worldwide hit with proper treatment. Similar production like Taylor's "New Year's Day".

It's an amazing song that could work with almost any type of arrangements. But now we have heard it this way, I don't think we could listen to other versions without prejudices. For instance, think on the backslah Springsteen got with the new version of the Ghost of Tom Joad

Really is a beauty, this. It’s kind of what Dying of the Light and If I Had a Gun were hyped as being, but for me didn’t deliver on. I’d go as far as to say that it’s Noel’s best ballad since Don’t Go Away, at least.
Very clever move including it as a bonus track. Kind of a palate cleanser after the richness of the album.

I still rate If Love Is The Law above it but this is my second favourite on the album. It's a masterpiece, and I love that is so raw.

There were so many people on this forum saying he fucked up If I Had a Gun and The Dying Of the Light in the recorded versions. So he releases an awesome live recording of Dead in the Water and now there are some clamoring for a studio recorded version? What the actual fuck? The way the song is now captures more emotion than a studio recording ever could.

In the case of IIHAG and TDOTL for me, I’m not arsed about the production on either, I just don’t think they’re particularly good songs.

Saying he would fuck it up like previous songs is a negative outlook on it. He could very well hit a home run with it. I've seen Radiohead nail stuff like this in the studio. Arcade Fire as well.

This is a great song, and it could benefit from a studio recording as well, it's not like this one will ever be deleted. If I Had a Gun was a huge disappointment, tho...

He was on Chris Evans with Sam Smith last week. Smith was 'amazed' by Dead In The Water. Noel went 'cover it if you want. make me more money'

Fucking amazing song! I'm in favour of saving it for the next Oasis album (I still have hope).

Good find. Too "soft rock" for my taste but well executed. That it can admit so different treatmenta shows how strong is the song

Have to say it does absolutely nothing for me. NG by numbers, glad it was left as a bonus track.

Leave it as it is. It was a moment in time, sounds amazing. Singing is beautiful, it's done. Great track. Would love to hear Taylor Swift cover it though! Reckon she's one of VERY few artists who could do it justice.
Also, I listen to Dying of the Light soundcheck more than the bloody recorded version which is a great example of a studio version being worse than an inferior recording of a song.
I mean it's not like he has a shortage of songs!! The man is the self-proclaimed Terminator, he'll be back!! He said in the Frank Skinner interview he has a couple of albums worth of material written and finished, and that's not including the leftover handful of songs from working with Holmes that are unfinished.

Best tune on the album easily. Heck, I’d rather listen to it ten times in a row than listen to WBTM.

The live take of it - It has a Sad Song kind of vibe.
Am I the only one hearing a raw Oasis 1994 sound? It has the classic Noel melancholy sound to it. Brilliant.

There is already a thread discussing DITW. Why didn't you post this in there instead?

I do love the divisiness that the album brings. Some people love Dead In the Water, while on the other hand it bores me to tears

It's a nice enough tune, pretty standard Noel Gallagher acoustic stuff. I've no idea why it's getting the adoration that it is though. I even saw some clown on here saying it's better than Talk Tonight and Half the World Away. Makes me wonder what planet some people here live on.
