Massive respect to David Holmes. If you can get Noel to get out of his comfort zone without telling you to fuck off and then telling the fans he's destroyed the masters, you're brilliant at your job.
I imagine it was more to do with the fact CY didn't sell as well as the first album. Still, will be good to hear something a bit different from Noel - even if I'm not wholly convinced by those excerpts. Noel began recording this before Chasing Yesterday.

I do laugh at comments after listening to SECONDS worth of music. This album will be Epic and i look forward to comments when it's heard in full and folk admiting they were wrong. 👌 I do laugh at comments like this saying the album will be EPIC after a few seconds

I'm intrigued by the story of all this, and am beginning to think CY wasn't really the album he wanted at that time, given talk of shopping it around to producers, and that he never seemed that excited by it. I wonder if this is finallly the album Noel's wanted to make ever since SOTSOG?

Ok, not sure if anyone posted here, but Alisson just wrote on his website that the japanese version of the album will have an extra tune called GOD HELP US ALL.
Can someone freak out with me?

He will not get #1 with this. And thus the streak will be broken.

Chasing Yesterday is clearly a compilation of tracks he's had laying around the house. He didn't seem excited and really worried during that Facebook thingy, and now we know why.

I thought I remembered Noel mentioning that he had work with Holmes longer.

From what I recall, when Noel was told by his management that he'd have to wait months for the release of CY, he went to the studio to work with Holmes, who wanted to work with Noel on a different dynamic. There were interviews at the time of the promotion of CY that Noel mentioned working on something else, a project full of instrumentals but few words, and he had to work on them. The press release says they've been working for 2 years on this.

It's not a bad album though. It's the most ups and down (Noel) Gallagher related album to me. I know people hate NGHFB 1 but bar Record Machine and Stop the Clocks, i feel it's a more cohesive record. CY has some ups, but too many down tracks. It feels rushed and it was indeed rushed not the way it was recorded, but the way it was put together.

It's not a bad album though. Indeed, it's actually amazing how well it turned out considering it's practically an album of demos. The production on some tracks is very bare and straightforward though and could have done with a second look from a good creative eye.

She Taught Me How to Fly sounds really Blondie-ish, in terms of Noel's delivery. He sounds very Debbie Harry like.

Really like the sound of that opening track, not too sure about the other 2 but obviously not enough to judge by, but the visuals on that video are outstanding. i'm a big fan of psych stuff (especially modern like tame impala, pond, king gizz etc) so if the album ends up having that 'psychedelic' theme to it then i'll be very happy, just hope we get a few heavier sounding tunes on the record Summarised my thoughts exactly. Buzzing for this from that video

Just pre-ordered deluxe CD+LP+Picture Disc album and my wallet is lighter again. I went with deluxe CD, plus picture disc vinyl. I don’t see the point in owning the same vinyl album twice. One black. One multi colored. For me a black LP to play and a picture disc vinyl is for collection.

Yes, that's true and I can confirm you as I just read it on Sony Japan site. Japanese edition will be released on 22nd November and has one bonus track "God Help Us All". First press is including a DVD www.sonymusic.co.jp/artist/noelgallagher/info/486637

I actually like the Beautiful World clip.
This is the album Noel should have done solo between DOYS and Oasis' 8th album. There was zero point in breaking up the band.

Did you see them on their last tour? They were completely miserable, the dynamic had fallen apart completely, the lead singer hadn't been able to sing for years and spent more time making gestures at the sound guy than actually singing to try and deflect the blame, they could only be bothered to come up with half an album, and due to the apparently required democracy, a lot of it had to be trash and there was no chance of someone imposing a bit of creative progression. Oasis need to tour, we need songs that sound like Oasis songs to market that. That was it. There was every point in breaking up the band.

I enjoyed the gigs that I went to on the last tour however it wont really bother me if they never play together again, happy for the solo ventures to continue. I don't think there was ever a required democracy in Oasis.

Id be disappointed if it ended up on a future album. Another 10 year old song. Forwards Noel!

Have just read all your comments... Noel's a genius. I'm not worried. Having these 2 albums out around the same time is going to be epic. Maybe i'll combine them for listening like it was some massive new Oasis album that never happened. As You Are.
