To Be Where There's Life > The majority of DBTT cool tune and it sounds great but in no way it's better than 'the majority' better than Keep The Dream Alive and A Bell Will Ring though

A Quick Peep Force of Nature Probably All in the Mind Hung in a Bad Place She is Love
Wtf is that shit? You think that’s acceptable for Oasis? No.
HC is the worst Oasis album. DBTT just simply hasn’t aged well.

DBTT isn't the worst Oasis album. Not even close. It is just the most overrated.

It’s long been Championed around these parts as the great Oasis comeback. Despite the previous album having a huge sold out tour, 4 hit singles and a million copies sold in the UK.

It’s long been Championed around these parts as the great Oasis comeback. Despite the previous album having a huge sold out tour, 4 hit singles and a million copies sold in the UK. That's probably thanks to the way it was portrayed in the media at the time. Like you said, Oasis never really went away, but DBTT was very much played as a "comeback" for the band. The main difference seems to have been that Oasis were considered cool again. Possibly because of all the bands around at that time who cited Oasis as an influence? Or maybe it was that the people who were 16 when MG came out were now writing for the music mags.

DBTT isn't the worst Oasis album. Not even close. It is just the most overrated. Around here, and not necessarily in the mainstream where it gets unnecessarily shit on, that title should go to BHN.

1. HC(best) 2. Sotsog 3. DOYS 4. MG 5.DM 6.DBTT 7.BHN(worst)
Ok, no dumb 'your opinion' comments. Obviously it's my opinion. I know I'm gonna get shit for putting MG so low, but take into account my taste in music maybe different than yours.

Around here, and not necessarily in the mainstream where it gets unnecessarily shit on, that title should go to BHN. You bite your tongue! Don’t take Rome away from us!!! I like BHN, but I just find it to be overrated among many people here, especially with how some rate it as the best Oasis album of all. Fat chance. BHN is good and is solidly the third or fourth best Oasis album, but the production, repetition, and inclusion of Magic Pie drag the album down to not being quite like MG or DM. The songs on the album would've been better had the production not been so damn bloated and compressed, and just been as evenly balanced as their live sound, with some of those non-core band bits added in (keyboards, strings, brass section, slide guitar, etc.). Not to mention, less repetition and nonsense vocables (e.g. the "Na na na"s scattered throughout All Around the World over top of some really good instrumentation) would've helped a lot too. The live performances of songs like AATW and It's Getting Better Man!! really highlight what these songs really had to offer and do the songs justice. That's why I think the album's underrated in the mainstream, where the album gets shit on for the songs themselves, but overrated around here, where the album gets praised for its excess that just doesn't sound good at certain parts, like the outro of IGBM!!!. And regarding Magic Pie, its placement at track three lets it settle in too soon. Stay Young being on there instead of it, or even My Big Mouth going into Stand By Me, would've carried the energy and excitement of the first two tracks into the rest of the album much better and not made the album seem as bloated. Magic Pie would've been a gem of a B-side, however, much like The Fame and Going Nowhere are. Had they made those changes, I'd put BHN up there near MG and DM.

Pretty stable with this ranking now:
1. Definitely Maybe 2. What’s the Story Morning Glory 3. Be Here Now 4. Dig Out Your Soul 5. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants 6. Don’t Believe the Truth 7. Heathen Chemistry
In recent years, DOYS and SOTSOG have both risen, while DBTT has fallen. HC has been ranked last ever since it was released in 2002 - fuck that album.

I don’t like DBTT as much as I did in 2005 but it’s still miles better than HC,
At the least it offers something new to the Oasis sound with that retro 60’s thing they had going. HC sounds like an Oasis covers band trying to write their own songs.
My ranking is Definitely Maybe Standing on the Shoulder of Giants Be Here Now (Whats the Story) Morning Glory Dig Out Your Soul Don’t Believe The Truth
Heathen Chemistry

Many DBTT songs sounded really fresh at the time: MF, TUTS, POTQ, TIOBI sounded unlike anything they did before, LLAB and GGTIA were very refreshing tunes too, even Lyla and LTBL which recalls some their past songs (RWI and SCYHO respectively) sounded brand new.

Here's mine: Thanks. Tbh, my love of Oasis mainly comes from the under-heard/lesser known tracks, rather than the 'classics'. If b-sides are taken into account, my list might change slightly. SOTSOG will remain no.1. The positives outweigh the negatives IMO.
