Mr. Weller will be 60 this May, so I think he'll do something special this year.
Website says, "Here's 'Aspects' off the new album due out September. Hope you like it. - P.W."

Hannah Peel is fantasic! and matt knows that too. I really love The Magnetic North (Erland Cooper, Simon Tong and Hannah Peel). Knowing that Weller is a big fan of Erland & The Carnival, it's quite likely that Hannah contributed to his new album. Can't wait to hear his new album!!! Happy Birthday Mr. Weller from your fellow Gemini, the changing man!!!I just downloaded the new song. What a beautiful song. Brilliant.

The new tune's a pretty little thing. Pleased with it.
Looking forward to the new album. It might be just what I need come September.

Well I was going to post this late last night to you Mimmi but I was too tired but this ties in perfectly with what I was going to write, and I know you’ll love this story. Basically, Erland played in a small church here in London last night playing his Orkney themed album and I went along to it. I was the only other fellow Orcadian in the 100 odd crowd, and he asked if anyone was from there - and there’s me and I put my hand up. He promises to ‘talk later’! Sure enough I had a chat with him at the end, all very local based conversation saying where in Orkney we’d think his new album would be great to play. No surprises, really nice guy, he left in about the mid 2000s so I didn’t know him but as with all small communities you know mutual friends and all that and, like myself, he returns to see family and friends often. However there’s a bunch of blokes who are smoking and congregating around where we’re talking, and I recognise one of the faces but can’t quite twig who it is. And then it strikes me - it’s only Paul Weller! I ask if it is him, I’m told it is, and he acknowledges me as the ‘other guy’ from Orkney, and I shake his hand when I leave! All very brief after I finished my chat with Erland, as I didn’t want to bother him too much because it was his private time and I’m also not that particularly clued up on his music barring a few albums scattered in my music collection (I like him, amazing talent, but I wouldn’t say I have an authority on him) so it would have been dishonest of me to slaver at his feet! Nonetheless, absolutely surreal experience! A huge supporter of Erland (and evidently Hannah Peel) very early on in his career and he’s obviously maintained a friendship with him. I know there are many hardcore Weller fans of his on here, but his influence on great music extends so much further than I ever imagined.

I'm so pleased that you got to see Erland and had a chat with him as his fellow Orcadian. Playing in a church suits his music pefectly. I discovered Erland and The Carnival at London Calling in April 2000. They were opener of the first night for this show case festival in Paradiso which I was a regular visitor twice a year since 2008. I did fell in love with their music and bought their self titled debut album at merchandise table after their performance. I still love it and it's one of the best records I had since 2000, so I can say that I've been a big supporter of Erland very early on in his career as well. I've seen Erland and The Carnival twice, but not The Magnetic North yet. He's so talented and Orkney where he was born and raised has a huge impact on his music. Very lovely that you got to see Mr. Weller as well. I'm sure he enjoyed Erland's first ever solo gig as much as you did. If you haven't listened to his album "22 Dreams" yet, I highly recommend to do it because I'm pretty sure you'll love it. Music brings us together and music is a living thing. Just like air, it's always has been there for me and will always be there.

I'll be there! It will be my 12th Weller solo gig and it's been 11 years since his acoustic gig with Cradock at Paradiso. What a fantastic gig year this year for me!

I’ve got best of collections for both The Jam and Style Council - the latter underrated for sure, as a fan of Orange Juice, I see similarities with Edwyn Collins, with both fusing soul and funk with indie music.

I'm listening to the new track right now, finally...reminds me of 22 Dreams, which is my favourite Weller album. As always, the man gives us something good to look forward to and enjoy for the times to come.

Looking forward to hearing 'Bowie', for obvious reasons.
Also, those black cord trousers on the cover are the bee's knees!
