When you hear Kasabian and Blur live, you realise that they are 2 shittiest studio bands in the universe. So, thank God for Alan McGee that he gave chance to Oasis to record that first album until they sounded like they sounded live. You can't compare Blur to Kasabian. Mainly because Blur aren't shit like Kasabian. But there's not much wrong with their recordings, aside from Think Tank which sometimes sounds thin at times. What albums of theirs do you think sound poorly recorded?

Listened to this album for the first time on Saturday. After reading all the negativity on here I wasn't expecting much but I actually enjoyed it. Bless This Acid House is a great tune.

I'd say this place is full of the same boring hate in every single album. I came here since Velociraptor! release and I read the same thing from the same people every time.
Anyway, yesterday I listened to the physical CD (Brazilian standard) with the booklet, sounded gorgeous. It's a shame they released so many tracks before the album, there are songs in there which could get more attention like Good Fight and Wasted. The production is great, fine album, for sure on their Top 4.

Also love AYLFA and its video. When Tom goes out of the cake and starts playing the saxo is fantastic.

Jim used to be a huge Kasabian fan since their debut album and he had a great Kasabian blog and Lennon2217 was a big Kasabian fan just like myself. I've been following the band since 2004 and have seen them live for 9 times in several countries including Japan and Belgium. I've met them several times as well. I really loved them and I never said I hate them. I'm disappointed with their last albums and as being a big kasabian fan in past, I can say what I think of them, can't I? I'd say this place is full of the same boring hate in every single album. I came here since Velociraptor! release and I read the same thing from the same people every time.Including me, right?

Of course you can. This is a forum, that's whats about. But just because of their evolution and the fact that they are not making the same sound over and over again people just say that its bad. And actually it isn't. Its alright if you love the first 3 albums, but I would really hate them if they do the same fucking thing over and over again like ACDC or The Offspring

For me many of their last few albums have been weak and incoherent.

Its alright if you love the first 3 albums, but I would really hate them if they do the same fucking thing over and over again like ACDC or The Offspring I'm not against bands evolving, in fact I love when bands do that but it's gotta be worthwild. For me many of their last few albums have been weak and incoherent. It isn't even 'evolving', it was 'devolving' from what they once were. Kasabian had something going with their confident tunes on the first album. It relied less on conventional verse/chorus melody song structure and more on the rhythmic structure of the tunes, and as a result they had the beat and swagger to match their self-confidence (telling that they didn't suffer from so much 'foot in mouth' disease back in 2004). That was a really good debut album and what promised so much has not been delivered. The alarm bells started ringing with the second album - a scattering of absolute belters like Stuntman and Empire, but then the shock horror of their attempt at romantic love balladry with British Legion - unbelievably cringe worthy. It was less Brief Encounter, more hand job at a bus shelter at the end of a night out. Serge believed his own hype and started believing he was THE generation's principal songwriter and band leader. He's no Noel Gallagher, he's no Chris Martin - he has absolutely no grasp of the right melody or sentiment. Once they started to deviate from the interesting sonic textures of their original work, and more towards traditional songwriting, then everything fell apart. The less they do though, the better they are, and when they built a song on that great riff and beat from Underdog, then they could rediscover their talents again. The worst thing about it is the guys themselves have become parodies - the guys who wrote This Is Spinal Tap wouldn't even think of writing the deluded proclamations they come out with. If they could reign in the alpha male excess shite they spout in interviews, and cut out the cheesiness and cringe worthiness in their songs, then they might be able to do something again. And, also, swallow some pride and re-hire Chris Karloff.

But have you heard Karloff latest stuff? Is the same thing on repeat. Its good for an hour, but then its fucking stupid. I preffer the Kasabian evolution with Serge writing than what would have happened if Karloff stayed in the band. Just the same sound for years. No thanks.

Its alright if you love the first 3 albums, but I would really hate them if they do the same fucking thing over and over again like ACDC or The Offspring This is about everyone in here, not about one or two members. I just think people are too rigorous with Kasabian, you guys take them to another level, as they needed to do brillant lyrics and melodies as if they were Radiohead or another Pitchfork hyped band. I saw some discussing about their recent lyrics, Charles Bukowski and whatever, seriously... Looks like people are trying discover the cure of cancer or something similar on their material. For me their lyric context aren't far away from their first albums, what changed was the sonority, but mainly: their lives. Stop to judge them as if they were 23 years old or the salvation of rock 'n' roll, even if they said that before. They are not just some junkie guys anymore, their lives completely changed since the first album, they have children, another responsabilities and for sure another world vision. Go check the credits for Sixteen Blocks and you can see Serge's kids on the song. Can you imagine how this song was written? What it was inspirated from? I only see good things, but for sure there are a lot of hate around just because it isn't L.S.F. or Stuntman. I respect all your opinions, you don't need to enjoy something you can't; if you hate them, go ahead, but we're in 2017, don't expect the same band they were in 2004. At least they aren't Muse, go check that awful song Dig Down (a Muse fan speaking here) to see what really is a weak material. I'll leave this video that I was watching last night, maybe this can explain something. Just disconsider the title, there's almost nothing about Tom's depression in here.

Saw the video a couple of days ago. There was a interview where he really did speak about his depression. Love your post by the way, thats exactly what I meant. People change and evolve. And music do the exact same thing. What can I say? I love the new album. Is not that dark and it doesnt got that mysterious-spacey vibe like the first one. But its a colourful sound and it reflect that they had a great summer last year. (As far as I know, they've said it in a lot of interviews) Cheers!

From what I gleamed from the interviews, Serge had a great summer, getting married, etc. But Tom apparently had a nightmare year. What I found absolutely lovely was when Serge said he started the album with the idea to distract Tom from his worries and that it actually helped making him feel better, as he was having fun recording it and surely now performing it.

I think it was a TV interview in France where they played Acid House. Serge said: "It has been the best summer of our lives,we had a blast" or something like that and Tom replied: "Yes,it was mega". So I guess they had fun. Probably the months before summer were terrible for Tom. But its great to see him shining on stage again

Best song on it is 'Are You Looking For Action'
Rest of it is a bit meh.
Saw them last year at the King Power though and it was incredible. Best British live band about at the moment.
Get in the right mood for it, tan a lot of substances (if you want, and stay safe) and it's an incredible experience.
