In my opinion this album is the best that kasabian can give to his fans. Only one or two songs are very good, the rest is decent or almost, but nothing of special. The same of velociraptor and 48:13
I like wasted and bless this acid house

Just had a quick listen to the first 2 songs of the album, but I'm not sure if I want to finish to listen to the end. Listening to the disc 2 as I type. It's a completely another band.

Loving the album. Especially the first half. 'Good Fight' & 'Wasted' are my stand outs.

It's not a classic and the lyrics are terrible. Apart from that, I've really enjoyed listening to this album.

Take you over the light Under the signs In through locked doors to secret floors Where I'd be king for a day I want the world to stop (I want the world to stop) Give me the morning, give me the light that never dies never dies the DOOR!

Gave this a listen last night... Shite is the word that comes to mind.
I used to love this band but I've completely fallen away from them. I'm glad I didn't buy this first before listening.
The debut album was cool and the songs Karloff was involved in on Empire were sound too and I enjoyed most of West Ryder but since then they have continually went downhill. Nonsense lyrics and far, far to much vocals from Serge, it's overbearing.
10 years ago I was one of their biggest fans, now couldn't care less if I never heard them again.

Imagine the backlash if Liam wrote lyrics as bad as these. They really are awful.

That's pretty much same how I feel for this band. I really loved them, listening and seeing them since 2004. To me West Ryder was the last good album they made. I visited your blog often when you still had a lot of Kasabian stuff those days.

I was one of those people too 10 years ago. Times change, perspectives change. Their talents declined at the same rate their egos soared. It is almost too much to stomach really. It's a shame really. For me their peak was the "Fast Fuse/Thick As Thieves" single. Man the band was on fire at that moment in time. Great single. They've slowly come down the mountain since that point. In America the same shit happened with Kings of Leon. Between 2003 and 2005 that band was white hot. Fame, money, drugs and super models crippped that band.

The Fast Fuse single period was their prime, a proper buzz around them at the time. I remember sharing the vinyl rip on the old Club Empire blog I ran the night before I flew out to New York in September 2007. Must have listened to it about 20 times on the flight. I saw them on the West Ryder tour and they were excellent but the next I caught them they headlined T in the Park, 2010 I think, and they were shite, by the look and sound of the band the coke was flowing and the crowd wasn't what it was in the previous 5 years, full of arseholes. I missed The Movement.

They don't have any concept or strong idea for albums anymore. Kasabian - Dark, electronic, very consistent and coherent album. Electronic, hip hop...elements with that mad fer it attitude. Empire - Ok, I am always ready to forgive bands if their sophomore album is weaker. It happens with lot of bands, bands write and prepare first album for years and then it takes some time to get in shape again. If they realise it quick after first one and have few good singles, then it's ok with me. West Ryder - Ok, idea behind this album is pretty clear. From album cover to clothes and songs. It was very important album for me at the time, now not so much, but I think that that album is something that most of us Oasis fans always wanted from Oasis in 21.century- really good psychedelic, modern but still retro album. Velociraptor - Few nice moments but album with so much different things on it(not in a good way). No real idea behind this album, very incoherent, uninspired... But ok, 2 from 4, not that bad, if next one is good, we can fogive this one. 48:13 ? For Crying Out Loud

I quite like the new album. It's no masterpiece but I enjoy putting it on. First track is great. Album gets better after a few listens.

I wanna know wich songs are they going to play live. Maybe they can make some of them sound even better. Maybe? I'd say for sure. At least 90% of Kasabian songs sounds better live than the studio version. The 5 songs they played before releasing FCOL are so much better live imo. I'm expecting for Good Fight, Wasted and Are You Looking for Action?. I love the others but there's no need to play them live, even Twentyfourseven, there's a lot of old stuff to play too.

When you hear Kasabian and Blur live, you realise that they are 2 shittiest studio bands in the universe. So, thank God for Alan McGee that he gave chance to Oasis to record that first album until they sounded like they sounded live.
