Short review: Good Fight - Sounds very much like early Beatles, but can't quite pin down what song it reminds me of exactly. Nice song, Serge's background vocals are a highlight. The ending sounds like Liam Gallagher doing his Beatles impersonation of "La la la's" at the end. Outside of that not detecting any Beatles influence. The melody reminds me of Nowhere Man! Ahh I finally narrowed down which song it reminded me of

Similar to Velociraptor this is an album of highs and lows. I like the more stripped back sound, I like how Tom's voice has gradually incorporated more and more elements of LG's voice, it's the best Serge has ever sounded imo as well.
In the way that it's quite stripped back, melodic/songy and has vibrant but organic production it's kinda like Kasabian's DBTT (Not just because they're both 6th albums either)
'Bless This Acid House' is an absolute tune. It's sugery and very pub rock, if I can make another Oasis related comparison it reminds me of Lock All The Doors in that way. Derivative but in it's own way pretty damn good. Must have listened to that song 30 times today. Absolutely love it!
'Ill Ray' and 'Are You Looking For Some Action?' Are great songs, on par with their best work from their last two albums.
Psycho, Good Fight, Wasted, Comeback Kid and Put Your Life On it are really good album tracks. Better than their middle of the road songs from their last album by a huge distance. They're nice, interesting songs that I can see myself revisiting plenty.
The rest? Rubbish. Just my opinion but the other tracks are just forgettable filler.
7/10* imo. Good effort. A big step up from the last record, much less cartoony and more natural and the barebones of the songs are much stronger this time out. I like the more organic sound as well.
I'd put it here, on par with Velociraptor
Kasabian WRPLA Empire Velociraptor-FCOL .. .. .. 48:13
*By modern indie rock standards, a magazine rating basically.

The more I listen to the album, the more I love it. To me is the best album of the year along Alexandra Savior's Belladona Of Sadness and The XX's I See You. Humanz by Gorillaz was terribly dissapointing and still haven't seen nothing of the Gallaghers. Really great album.

Has anyone tried to play Wasted on acoustic guitar? I was strumming and put capo on 4th fret, then played just a simple chords sequence A C D E
Any tips on how to play it on an acoustic guitar?

I think the strumming is pretty simple, just down, silence, down,up,down, silence. The rest of the song is simple as well, there is a few chords missing, like the bridge. But I think is an E straight forward

Cheers for your reply

Who would win in a fight? Kasabian or the Gorillaz cartoon band? Both silly.

They took it offline ? It's normal here, probably there's a restriction in some countries. I guess they will put it on YouTube very soon, there's a preview on KasabianVEVO's channel.

Looking up Kasabian lyrics is the equivalent of reciting dialogue from Beavis and Butthead.

Think someone's already said it further up, but definite Velociraptor vibes from this album. Also a more album-y album , without many knock-out singles (most of the preview tracks/singles sounded meh in isolation), but flows nicely as a set of songs. No particular highlights or lowlights. Ok, maybe overall it's a meh album, but it's solid enough to feel a lot more enjoyable than 'meh' over the course of the album.

(If you delete that one) "I'm reciting Charles Bukowsky,I've got nothing to loose." "To love we got to find love" And I love that Tu Amor Es Muy Loco at the ending

I am amazed. Kings of Leon and Kasabian. Both kinda broke out at the same time. Both are now so far removed from what made them great and cutting edge.

YILWAP is about, well, being in love and trying so hard to be with that person. That line to me means that he is trying to make hisself look interesting. And about the KoL and Kasabian thing, its called evolution. I really wouldn't want to see them do the same record over and over again. The Strokes is a band that has evolved, but in a bad way. KoL and Kasabian did it in a great way in my opinion.

The way KoL became commercial is a lot worse than what 'happened' to Kasabian, this comparision is non sense. KoL released Come Around Sundown (their first really weak record) in 2010, and that year Kasabian was touring West Ryder and still showing people songs like Underdog, Fast Fuse, Vlad the Impaler and Fire.

Woke up this morning and it seemed to me that every night turns out to be a little bit more like Bukowski - and, yeah, I know he's a pretty good read, but, God, who'd wanna be such an asshole?
Never really got into Kasabian - every time I try, I just think of something else I'd rather be listening to. That said, I enjoyed the Reflektor rip-off song a few days ago...maybe I'll give this one a listen.
